Beatrice, Neb.  Mrs. Margaret Collins Weston, 78, prominent Nebraskan, died here Wednsesday morning. She had been in declining health for several months.

Daughter of the late Chester Worthington Collins, pioneer Nebraska financier and railroad builder, Mrs. Weston was born at Bayonne, N. J., and reared in the New York City area. She shared her father’s attachment for Nebraska and spent her adult life here, upwards of 50 years of iy in Beatrice.

She was the widow of Herbert T. Weston, a son of Jefferson B. Weston, co-founder of Beatrice and an early day figure in Nebraska’s development.

Mrs. Weston maintained a lifelong interest in Nebraska progress and conducted numerous philanthropies among them a gift of $10,000 in 1945 for a high school industrial arts building to the Beatrice community. The building was developed as a memorial to Mrs. Weston’s father.

She is survived by three sons, Collins, Jefferson B. II, and Herbert T. Jr., all of Beatrice; seven grandchildren, Ann, Sue, Jefferson B. III, Katherine and Herbert T III of Beatrice and Patricia and Mrs. James Rice of Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by one great grandchild, Michael Collins Rice, of Colorado Springs.
