Saint John Globe
October 3 1865The Aroostock papers announce the death of James HOULTON, Esq., age 81, founder of town of Houlton (Maine) where he made the first clearing in 1806. He ascended the St. John River from this city to Woodstock (Carleton Co.) in a canoe with an Indian.

October 3, 1894:"Houlton -- In this city, October 2, 1894, Samuel W., husband of Mary Ann Houlton, a native of Maine, aged 75 years 9 months and 16 days."
Theodore was educated in public schools and Houlton Academy. In 1860, he established the Aroostook Times, the first newspaper printed in Houlton, and operated the paper for forty years.
Benjamin Hascall was a millwright. He died in a railroad accident in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Samuel Hascall was a farmer. He was also a co-owner of a grist mill and a carding mill. A carding mill processes raw wool brought in by farmers. Samuel served in the war of 1812.
Ruth H. Hascall was unmarried.
Letters of a Proselyte. The Hascall-Pomeroy CorrespondenceLetter from his wife (XVIII) February 14, 1850. Green left for this City (Salt Lake) last July, in ill health on the Ship Brooklyn. He died on the trail at a place mamed Rock Valley. He was ill and laid under a tree to die. After waiting a day and a half he passed on and his companions buried him.Ashbel Green Haskell was a farmer and a millwright. He died on his travel from California to Utah.
