EDWARD D. MORSE, 86, 1840 Monterey Ave., Merritt Island, died Sunday, Nov. 3. Born in Casco, Maine, he moved to Merritt Island from Buckfield, Maine, in 1971. He was a retired farmer. He was a Protestant.

Survivors: wife, Lulu-Mae; son, Robert Brown, Buckfield; two grandsons. Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, Merritt Island.

Durand, Feb. 6 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Baker Clark, former Durand resident who died Jan. 31 in Chehahs Wash. following a heart attack will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Durand Methodist Episcopal church with the Rev. L.E. Winter officiating. Burial will be in the Durand cemetery.

Mrs. Clark was born Oct. 16, 1860 in Indiana. She leaves a husband, E.H. Clark, two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Coley, who was with her mother in Washington, Mrs. Grace Langley, Durand; and a son, Charles Baker, Durand.

DEATH TAKES MRS. JUDD AT DURAND--Durand, Ill., April 28--Mrs. Amolyn Judd, widow of Oliver Judd, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elof Johnson, in this place. She had been ill for five months of neuritis.

Mrs. Judd was born in Laona township, Oct. 12, 1853, and was married to Oliver Judd June 9, 1872. He died Dec. 1, 1924.

She leaves four children, Mrs. Lena M. Johnson, Atascadero, Calif.; Elery Judd, Sioux Falls, South Dakota., and Walter and Miss Julia Judd, Durand. Charles and Albert Baker, Durand, are brothers, and Mrs. Intha Weaver and Mrs. Zylpha Andrews, Durand, sisters.


Oliver L. Judd

DEATH TAKES OLIVER JUDD--Oliver L. Judd, pioneer resident of Durand died Monday at 11 a.m. at his home following a stroke of apoplexy. He had been in poor health for five years.

Mr. Judd was born in Durand, March 2, 1846, and was married June 9, 1872 to Miss Emeline Baker.

Five children were born, one, Willard Judd, dying May 29, 1907. His wife and four children survive. They are Mrs. Leonora Johnson, Atascadero, Calif.; Mrs. Julia Johnson, Ellory and Walter Johnson, all of Sioux Falls, S.D. There are four grandchildren. Mrs. Alice Belden, Durand, is a sister and Frank Judd, California, a brother.

ERICKSON -- Mrs. Belle L. Erickson, 86, Durand, died at 4 a.m. Dec. 23.1971, after a long illness. Born Nov. 4, 1885, in Laona Township, daughter of Charles H. and Hattie A. Baker. Lived all her life in Durand area. Married to Axel Erickson in Freeport, Feb. 1, 1906.

Operated the general store in Durand for many years. Member of United Methodist Church of Durand and was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Durand. Interesee CLub, Order of Eastern Star, 419, and the Durand Woman's Club.

Survivors include: a niece, Mrs. Raymond Henry, Beloit, Wis.; two nephews, Dwight Baker, Normal; and Layton Baker, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.


Axel Edward Erickson

ERICKSON -- Axel Edward Erickson, 79, Durand, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 1955, in his home after a lingering illness. Born March 23, 1875, in Qvenskrote Grasgard, Oland, Sweden, son of John and Carrie Erickson. Married the former Belle Baker in Freeport Feb. 1, 1906.

Member of Durand Methodist Church, member of the church board of trustees for many years and treasurer of Methodist Sunday school for 50 years. He came to the home of his uncle, Gust Erickson, in Rockford from Sweden on May 15, 1897. In the fall of 1899 he went to Durand to work for Albert Anderson, a tailor. He bought out Anderson on May 3, 1903, and started a men's furnishing store which he operated until his death. His civic work included designing the Masonic temple building in Durand and a monument in memory of world war 1 veterans.

Survivors include: widow; two sisters, Jennie and Annet, and an adopted sister, Selma, all of Sweden: 14 nieces and nephews in Sweden; and a first cousin. Mrs. Amanda Peterson of Rockford.


Omer Potter Andrews

Durand, Ill., Aug. 18.--Omer Potter Andrews, 87, a retired farmer and lifelong resident off the Durand community, died at 8:30 a.m. today at his home here.

Born July 3, 1856, in Epplyanna township, he had made his home in durand for 25 years. He married Zilpha Baker Jan. 26, 1879.

Surviving besides the widow are four sons, Harry, Glendale, Cal., Jay, Beloit, Wis., and Clayton and Ellis both of Durand; a daughter Mrs. Lou VanDenberg, Rockford, and five grandchildren.

ANDREWS - Tressa Andrews, 96, 304 W. Main St., Durand, died at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 1990, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Byl, Durand, following a brief illness. Born June 25, 18964, in Durand, the daughter of Martin and Louise Mueller Ziegler. Lifelong Durand resident. Married Ellis Andrews in Rockford in June 1922. Prior to marriage, employed as office worker for Dr. Young and Dr. Roberts in Durand; later employed at Bliss Grocery from 1956 until it closed in 1989. Graduated from Durand High School..

Survivors imclude one sister, Grace Thoren, Durand; four nephews; and one niece. Predeceased by her husband, and one sister.
