24197. Dr. Ernest Nathaniel Crockett

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 P.M., at Finley's for Dr. Ernest N. Crockett, 79, long a member of the city health department staff until his retirement two years ago, and formerly an early day physician at Long Creek, Grant County, Or., who died Friday morning of heart trouble at his home at 932 N.E. Ainsworth street.

Born at Napoleon, O., Dr. Crockett was a graduate of Marion Sims medical college in New York city, where he later taught anatomy, and then studied at Johns Hopkins medical school.

From 1890 until 1900 he practiced at Long Creek, then moving to Portland. During World War I he was a captain in the medical corps, stationed in Alaska, and was cited by the war department for his record during the flu epidemic when he lost only two patients at Fort Seward.

Following the ware he joined the city health department and continued in its service until his retirement in 1940. Well known as a surgeon, he was a member of the Multnomah County, Oregon, and American Medical societies and of the Wood men of the World.
