July 15, 2007YARMOUTH -- Guy H. Lovell, 77, of North Yarmouth died Friday, July 13, 2007. He was born on July 11, 1930 in Portland, the son of Sarah (McFarland) and Guy H. Lovell.
Guy graduated from North Yarmouth Academy in 1949. In 1954 he married Allie M. Power and together they had two children.
Guy worked for over 21 years for the Freeport, N.Y. School System as a maintenance mechanic and retired to North Yarmouth in 1985. He was a life member of the North Yarmouth Fire Department, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Durham (Acacia), Eastern Star of Durham, Family Campers & RVers (Pine Tree Chapter) and Wescustago Grange of North Yarmouth. Guy was known for his stereotypical appearance of a Mainer with his red suspenders, red sox and flannel shirt. Add to that his love of bean suppers, North Yarmouth Fire Department Fun Days, F&G Square Dancing, model railroading, playing hearts with local buddies, his patience as a talented woodworker and craftsman, his quiet nature, some Yankee thrift and ingenuity and a few other Maine values and you'd have a good picture of him as a true Mainer through and through - ayah.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Allie, who died in July 2004.
