Roswell E. "Ross" Norcross passed away May 31 at the age of 88 years and six days.
He was the son of Alphonso and Rose Gardner Norcross. Ross was one of eight sons born to this family, all of whom preceded him in death. He worked for a time in a machine shop in Bellows Falls, Vermont. In 1902, Ross came to Douglas, Wyoming where he engaged in carpentering, and also worked as a well driller. Later he moved to Esterbrook and was interested in mining for a time.
During World War I, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was attached to the 4th Engineers, Company F, Maple Leaf Division. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
He then returned to Esterbrook. On Nov. 14, 1921, he was united in marriage to Ester Haskell at Arnold, Nebraska. To them was born one son, Daniel Roswell Norcross, who with his family reside at Casper.
Mr. and Mrs. Norcross maintained a home continuously for 47 years at Esterbrook, excepting for the winters. After his health failed they lived in either Glendo or Douglas.
Survivors include his wife, Ester; a son Daniel Norcross; daughter-in-law, Patricia Norcross; five grandsons, Keith, Phillip, Chris, Ross and Kevin; and three granddaughters, Susan, Lisa, and Sarah, all of Casper, Wyoming.

March 1, 2002Benjamin -- Peggy Haskell, 101, Grand Island, widow of James, died Wednesday (2/27/02). Born on ranch between Arnold and Calloway. Published four books; also has written and published short adult fiction and historical articles. Former president, Nebraska Writer's Guild.
Survivors: son, James H., Taneytown, Md.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She published four books. Her first story, "Adventures of the Pale Pink Umbrella," was published in the children's section of the Omaha BEE. Since then she had written and published short adult fiction, historical articles and film strips related to health. Some of her stories have won awards and some have been reprinted in England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland and Canada.
She was a member of the Medical School Auxiliary, the Nebraska Writer's Guild, where she served as secretary and president, a longtime member of the National Writer's Club and more recently, the National League of American Pen Women. She also was a member of the Grand Island Sketch Club
James Winfred Benjamin served in World War I. His occupation is listed as "medicine" by his wife.

Henry Glover Haskell, of Meacham road, known In the dry goods trade throughout the state, (lied on Wednesday at a private hospital in Brookline, where he had been under treatment for a long time. He was 34 years old and was lorn and educated in Cambridge Mr. Haskell leaves a wife, Lena Waters Haskell, and a daughter four years Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at Mount Auburn Chapel, Rev Frank E. Manble conducting.

HENRY G. HASKELL
Henry G. Haskell, aged 34 years, passed away Wednesday at a Brookline hospital. Mr. Haskell had been an invalid for the last three years. He was born in this city thirty-four years ago, the son of Barnabas D. and Mary A. Haskell. He was the grandson of the late Henry R. Glover. He is survived by his widow, Lena Waters Haskell, and one child, Pauline Haskell, aged 4 years. Prior to his illness Mr. Haskell bad been engaged' in the dry goods business. being interested in a Lawrence concern. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at Mt. Auburn cemetery, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Fred B. Marble, Ph. D., officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Auburn family lot.
