May 13, 2003Pearl ``Jane'' Knowles, formerly of the Quad-Cities, passed away Friday, May 9, 2003, in California.
The Knowleses chose to be members of the Neptune Society, and no special services are planned. Their favorite charities were the SPCA, Doctors Without Borders and the Alzheimer's Association, to which they generously contributed.
She was born Dec. 3, 1910, to Emma Peitscher and Adolph Daebelliehn in Rock Island, and was educated there. She later moved to the western United States and established residence in Northern California.
Jane met and married Albert E. Knowles, and they lived variously in California and traveled widely throughout the world. Recently, in widowhood, Mrs. Knowles remained in her penthouse overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and her beloved San Francisco Bay.
Her only close living relatives here are two nieces, Dorothy V. Kirk Jack and Muriel Kirk Acker. Dorothy's son, Kevin, and his wife, Georgette, have taken special care of Mrs. Knowles in her later years.
