Mrs. Allen C. Squires died at her home on Center Street Monday afternoon at about five o'clock after an illness extending over two years of cancer. The funeral was held from her late home yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev Dr. Graham, rector of St. John's church. Interment in Pine Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Squires', maiden name was Miss Charlotte Stearns, daughter of the late William. R. and Laura Haskell Stearns and she was born at Chase Mills November 11, 1848. The family later moved to Massena and June 9, 1868, she married Allen C, Squires, of Louisville. They lived on the Squires homestead a year, then went to Fairmont, Minn., where they took up a homestead, remaining there five years, then returned to Massena and lived on the Stearns farm a mile below the village where they remained for 18 years. Then they moved to the village, where they remained until 14 years ago they went to Woodstock, Vt., living there until last May when they returned to Massena, Mrs. Squires' health gradually failing.

Besides her husband Mrs. Squires leaves three sons, Fred J. and Erwin W., of Woodstock, Vt., and Richard A. of Massena, and one daughter, Mrs. Leslie W. Cowdry, of West Woodstock, Vt., also one brother, Rev.William Stearns, S. J., of New York, all of whom were able to come to attend the funeral.

Mrs. Squires was a woman beloved of all who knew her, a devoted wife and mother and a friend to all. The sorrowing husband and children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement.
