Caleb Haskell lived in Hampton Falls, N.H. 1791-95. where he was a "doctor" and licensed to sell liquor in 1794; came to Columbia Falls 1795-1812, where he was the first regular physician, served as a town official 1800-1810, and set up the first wool-carding machine.

Volume 14, No. 4, December 2005The Boston Advertiser of 29 March 1877 reported that ELIJAH HASKELL, a retired U.S. Naval officer, had died at North Street, Salem. He was buried in full uniform. Born 20 January 1804 in Salem, he married Lucinda Wilson there on 12 June 1837. His last rank in the Navy was Purser. He had served during the Civil War.
