Miss Cora Z. Haskell
After a period of failing health extending over a year, Cora Z. Haskell died at her home on Walnut street at an early hour on Tuesday morning, November 14, 1933. Miss Haskell was in her 75th year.

She was born in the Town of Summerhill, the daughter of Daniel and Rosanna Eaton Haskell, but passed the greater part of her life in this village. For many years she sang in the choir of the Methodist church of which she was a member. Cousins are the nearest living relative.

The funeral was neld from the late home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon with services at the church one half hour later. Rev. Walter Tildesley officiated. Burial was in Indian Mound.

Betty Jean Haskell, 8 year old daughter of Otto E. Haskell of Woodbridge, died Yesterday morning when she slipped while wading in the Woodbridge Irrigation ditch and, within sight od the Lower Sacramento road highway bridge, was drowned.

Aid was summoned by two Mexican boys after the child's girl compa nions, Nancy and
Barbara Grohusky, frightened, ran to their homes, according to officers. Mrs. Horace Heeren, a neighbor, notified by the boys of the tragedy, summoned the Lodi inhalator squad, which, under command of Captain George Polenske, recovered the body after it had been submerged 40 minutes. An hour spent in efforts to revive the child were fruitless.

The child's body was taken in charge by Deputy Coroners Sam and Fred Salas.

Otto Haskell, the child's father, was almost prostrated when he heard of the tragic accident.  The girl had been reared since an infant of six weeks by him after the girl's mother had died. A year ago they located in Woodbridge after coming from Rantoul, Illinois, the girl's birthplace.

Besides her father, she is survived by two uncles, Arthur and Roscor of Brentwood; an aunt Mrs. Cora Burns and her hrandmother, Mrs. Mary A. Hawskell of Oregon City, Oregon.

Funeral services for Betty Jean Haskell, 9 year old daughter of Otto E. Haskell, will be held this morning at 10 o'clock at the Woodridge Community church with Rev. Primus Bennett, pastor of the Lodi Christian church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodbridge cemetery under the direction of Lodi Funeral Home.

The child was drowned Tuesday morning in an irrigation canal near the highway bridge at Woodbridge.
