William Malcolm Haskell was a factory foreman.
17761. Truman Roselle Haskell Jr.
Truman Haskell and his friend Truman Brown were noted Adirondack Guides. Trume Haskell made a living from guiding for most of the early days of his life. His family home was in Nobleboro. He was a son of William (Pony) Haskell.
After 1912, he lived in Wilmurt in the Courtney house next to what is known as Haskell's Inn. This house burned in 1916 and all that was left was a deer head, and a desk. The only clothes left were night clothes, It was then that Trume bought the Hubbard House that remains today as Haskell's Hotel.
When Trume was very young he built a camp on West Creek which was one of his greatest pleasures. He guided to that area and also spent much time in camp, He was a great story teller and often told tales of his association with French Louie, Sandy Flanagan, Johnny Leaf and Paul Hoppe. In his later years, Truman Haskell bought a garage in Barneveld and lived in what was known as the Octagon House. This was his business until he retired, although he spent as much time as possible in the woods.

Barneveld, Aug. 18. Nine children are without a mother by the death of Mrs. Trumam Haskell, which occurred at her home at 6 o'clock this morning. Two train nurses and two physicians were present as her spirit passed on.
Only a few days ago Mrs. Haskell became afflicted with pneumonia, after the birth of a daughter. Her vitality was not such as could fight off the disease and despite every known resource it claimed her completely.
Her maiden name was Georgianna Worden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Worden. She was born at Russia, N.Y., June 1, 1885. In 1901 she was married to Truman Haskell and they came here about three years ago. Mrs. Haskell was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Inexpressable is the grief which descends on the entire village by this loss, and the sympathy that is felt for the family. Mrs. Haskell was a woman who delighted her many friends. She had the mother spirit with everyone and whenever possible she was ready to give help. In her home she was radiant and love made no labor or sacrifice too great.
The children are: Worden, Dorcas, Glendora, Frances, Olive, Glenn and Catherine, twins, and infant daughter. There also survive, besides the parent and husband, three sisters, Mrs. Olive Racicot of Fort Layden, Mrs. Bertha Lindsey, Rochester, and Miss Marjorie Worden, Stittville, and one brother, Charles Worden of Hinckley.

May 13, 1918Lowville, May 13 - The remains of Mrs. George Moyer, whose death occurred at Utica Friday Evening where she underwent an operation for appendicitis, were brought to her home in this village Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Moyers maiden name was Alice Haskell and she was the daughter of Roselle and Minerva Taul Haskell. She was born at Trenton Falls 50 years ago. She was well known in the community, and had many friends who learn of her death with great regret.
Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Leon L. Duflo of Lowville, and Mrs. John E. Hayes of Fulton; three brothers, Truman, Elmer Haskell and John of Wilmurt, and a sister, Mrs. Truman R. Brown of Clearwater.

May 14, 1918Lowville, May 14. Mrs. George Moyer, who underwent an operation for appendicitis at Faxon Hospital, Utica, a week ago last Thursday, died at that institution Friday night, and the remains were brought to her late home in the Village on Saturday.
Mrs. Roselle was the daughter of Roselle Haskell and was born at Trenton Falls in 1868. She was united in marriage with Mr. Moyer in 1888 and they resided in Lowville the past 20 years.
Mrs. Moyer was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Nakomis Rebekah Lodge and was held in high esteem in the community.
Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leon Duflo of Lowvillle and Mrs. John E. Hayes of Fulton.
Truman R. Brown at age 45 is listed as a lumberman in the 1920 Federal Census for Remsen, Oneida, New York.

Prospect - Mrs. Howard (Capitola) A. Allen, 72, of 308 Park Ave., Prospect, a resident of this area for 54 years, died Tuesday, November 25, 1986 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born in Morehouseville on April 8, 1914, the daughter of Truman and Bertha Haskell Brown. She was married to Howard Allen in Prospect, N. Y. in 1940. She retired from Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, Marcy, N. Y., where she had worked as a therapy aide for 25 years. She was a member of the Mappa Chapter 578 Order of the Eastern Star of Barneveld since 1965, and a member of the United Methodist Women. She attended Park Methodist Church in Prospect.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Warren (Eleanor) Hegeman of Prospect, Mrs Lawrence (Georgianna) Forbes of Cold Brook, and Ms. Lydia Brown of Prospect; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Briggs of Remsen, N.Y. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Marshall and Paul Brown; several nieces and nephews.

Remsen - Howard Allen, 65, of Swamp Road, a retired attendant at the Marcy Psychiatric Center, died yesterday at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Steuben, son of Rudolph and Emma Wandover Allen. In 1941 he married Capitola Brown in Prospect. Mr. Brown was employed by the center for 20 years before his retirement four years ago. He was a Methodist, a member of the Remsen Masonic lodge 677 and was a veteran of World war 2.
Besides his wife he leaves a sister, Mrs. Peter ( Mabel ) Briggs of Remsen.

Lydia M. Brown, 77, formerly of 110 State St., Prospect, passed away January 6, 1997, in Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville.
Lydia was also predeceased by two sisters, Georgianna Forbes and Capitola Allen and two brothers, Marshall and Paul Brown.

March 25, 1918Deforest Haskell died at 5 o�clock on Saturday evening at his home on the Ward farm after a ten week illness, which began with pneumonia.
Mr. Haskell was born at Royalton on May 18, 1864 and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Truman Haskell. At the age of 13 years he became a resident of Alabama and he moved to Indian Falls 25 years ago. He married Miss Clara Elizabeth Bates of Shelby in 1885. He was a director of the Bank of Corfu and a member of the Corfu Grange. He was the owner of the Pratt farm in this vicinity.
He is survived by his wife; a son Lloyd and a daughter Alice, and his mother, Mrs. Jane Haskell, all of Indian Falls; three brothers, former Supervisor Elmer Haskell of Corfu, George Haskell of Elba and Fay Haskell of Little Rock, Ark. Mr. Haskells brother Elias died a few months ago. There has been a death in the family of every one of the Haskell families in the last year.

January 15, 1946Corfu � Jan. 15 � Mrs. Clara E. Haskell, 81, widow of DeForest Haskell, died of influenza Sunday morning (January 13, 1946).
Mrs. Haskell was born at Royalton on February 5, 1864, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Singleton Bates. After her marriage she resided at Indian Falls for many years, coming to Corfu following Mr. Haskells death. She moved to Batavia three years ago. She was a member of the Indian Falls Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Haskell are a brother Elmer Bates of Winter Park, Fla., and a half-sister, Mrs. Iva Dibley of Medina. A son Lloyd Haskell, died on June 23, 1928.

June 4, 1928Indian Falls � June 4 � Lloyd T. Haskell, son of Mrs. Clara Haskell of this place and the late De Forest Haskell, died at the home of his Aunt, Mrs. Diva Dibley of Medina, where he stayed for the past few weeks, at 8 o'clock yesterday morning following a several weeks illness.
Mr. Haskell was born in Indian Falls on October 8, 1896, and had lived practically all his life in this place. Besides his mother Mr. Haskell leaves wife, whose maiden name was Miss Mable Stroh, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Klehn of Indian Falls. Mr. Haskell was a member of the I.O.O.F. of Corfu.

February 24, 1970Corfu � Mrs. Mabel Maas, 71, of 19 West Main St., died at 8:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 23, 1970) at Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia where she had been a patient for two weeks. Death followed a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Maas was born at Athol Springs, May 23, 1898, a daughter of Robert and Mary Stroh. A resident of Corfu for 40 years, she was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Church and its Altar and Rosary society.
Survivors include her husband Clement J.; a daughter Mrs. Wayne (Annette) Ellithorpe of Placerville, Calif.; a brother, Clarence of Rochester; two nieces and two nephews.

February 5, 1953CORFU-Elmer Haskell, 87, supervisor of the town of Pembroke from 1906-1913, died Wednesday (Feb. 4, 1953) at the Wright Nursing Home in Orlando, Fla., where he had been for three years. He was elected supervisor on the Democratic ticket.
The son of Truman and Jane Boots Haskell, he was born in Royalton, Niagara County July 7, 1865 and on Dec. 15, 1886 was married to Miss Martha Currie, who died in Orlando in November, 1941. Mr. and Mrs. Haskell moved from Pembroke in the Spring of 1895 to Corfu. For 30 years before going to the nursing home Mr. Haskell spent the Winters at his home, 318 Putnam St., Orlando and Summers in Corfu. When he lived here he was a member of: Corfu Lodge, IOOF, Corfu Grange, the Masonic Lodge and attended the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a son, Harold G. Haskell and a daughter, Mrs. Emily Chittenden, both of Corfu; a brother, George Haskell of Town Line Rd., Batavia; six grandchildren, Mrs. Irma DeMuth, Mrs. Lucille Beideck, Mrs.E1eanor Beideck and Myron Chittenden, all of Corfu, and Elmer and Edward Higgins of Akron and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late George Haskell and brother of the late Deforest, Fayette and Elias Haskell and Mrs. Penelope Webster.

November 12, 1941Corfu, Nov. 12. Mrs. Martha Currie Haskell, 76, wife of Elmer Haskell, former supervisor of the town of Pembroke, died last night (November 11, 1941) at the Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando. Fla .
The Haskells left for Florida last Wednesday and Mrs. Haskell became seriously ill in Washington, but continued the trip. She was removed to the hospital by ambulance from the train on arrival in Orlando. Mrs. Haskell had been in poor health tor a long time.
Mrs. Haskell was born at Penn Yan, Yates County, on August 21, 1885 and came to Indian Falls with her parents, the late William and Mary Currie, when she was four years old. She was married to Mr. Haskell on December 15, 1888 at Dale and they had resided in the town of Pembroke nearly all the time since, spending their winters in Orlando. She was a member of the Corfu Presbyterian Church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Haskell is survived by a son, Harold V. Haske11, and a daughter, Mrs. Edward Chittenden, both of Corfu; a brother John Currie of Roanoke, Va., and six grandchildren. She was the mother of the late George Haskell.

October 4. 1979Norman Frank: Webster, 76, of 919 North Arkansas died Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Dardanelle Hospital. He was a native of North Little Rock, a retired Rock Island Railroad employee, and former owner and manager of the Chicken Shack Cafe at North Little Rock. He was a World War II veteran serving in Patton's army, member of Disabled American Veterans and Military Order of the Cooties, and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was chairman of the 6th District of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2283.
He was the son of the late Bert and Nellie Webster and a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Enice Grinder Webster; a sister, Mrs. S.E. Tyler of Little Rock, a nephew and two nieces.

June 4, 1917Corfu � June 4 � Elias Haskell, brother of Elmer Haskell of this village and a resident of Alabama the greater portion of his life, died on Saturday morning at his home, No. 222 Carrollton street, Buffalo. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy on Saturday, May 26th, and a second one last Saturday caused his death.
Mr. Haskell was born at Newstead on December 28, 1868. He had been a motorman for the International railway of Buffalo at different times for about ten years and was thus employed at the time of his death.
Besides his brother, Mr. Haskell is survived by his wife and four children, Florence, a teacher in Schenectady, and Mildred, Charles and Gertrude, who live at home.; his mother who lives at Indian Falls; three brothers, DeForest of Indian Falls; Fayette of East Pembroke and George of Elba, and a sister, Mrs. B. M. Webster of Little Rock, Ark.
The burial will be in Elmlawn cemetery.

May 15, 1939Corfu, May 15.- Mrs. Ella VanPelt Haskell, widow of Elias Haskell, died at the Buffalo City Hospital at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning (May 14, 1939), where she was taken on May 2nd following a stroke of apoplexy suffered at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Caulfield, No. 135 Gelston street. Buffalo.
Mrs. Haskell was 67 years of age and. was born near Schenectady. Mr. Haskell died June 3, 1917. She was a member of a Baptist church in Buffalo and while in Corfu attended the Presbyterian Church. She cared for the late Mrs. Martha M. Dillon from June 1937 to January 1939, and, previous to that had cared for other Corfu people. She is a sister-in- law of Mrs. Clara Haskell of Corfu.
Surviving, besides Mrs. Caulfield, are two other daughters, Mrs. Florence Peters of Long Island and Mrs. Mildred McKurth of Buffalo; one son, Charles Haskell of Buffalo, and nine grandchildren.

July 9, 1956INDIAN FALLS -Mrs. Mary E. Haskell Rorick, 83, died at 7:05 this morning (July 9, 1956) at Genesee Memorial Hospital after suffering a stroke of apoplexy. She had been a patient there since April 12 and had been in poor health since last December.
Mrs. Rorick was born in the town of Alabama, March 31, 1873, a daughter, of the late Orville and Lydia Kenyon. On Nov. 2, 1892 Mrs. Rorick was married to Fayette Haskell who died several years ago. She was married to the late Frank Rorick, June 29, 1940. Mr. Rorick died in 1954. Mrs. Rorick was a member of the Indian Falls Methodist Church. She had spent most of her life in the Indian Falls area but for the
past 17 years had resided in Winter Park Fla.Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Passmore of Indian falls and Mrs. Wallace Hilchey of Oakfield; four grandchildren: nine great grandchildren and a great-great- granddaughter; two brothers, William Kenyon of Basom and Orville Kenyon of Corfu, and a sister.
