William Emmons Garfield is listed as a boot maker in the 1900 census, for Spencer, Massachusetts. In the 1910 Census for Sturbridge, Massachusetts, he is listed as a farmer with his own farm.
David Haskell was b. Warrensburg, Warren Co., NY 1 Feb. 1909 to George R. and Ella E. (Woodward) Haskell. He m. 6 Aug. 1933 Edythe Louise Brown, b. Stony Creek, Warren Co., 22 Feb. 1910 to George and Minnie (Dean) Brown. David was a graduate of Swarthmore College and had charge of the Lake George Fish Hatchery, later of the states largest fish hatchery, in Rome, retiring in 1970. David and Edyther compiled two published volumes of the history of Stony Creek, where they resided.
Their home there is today the Dean Homestead Museum, and their genealogical collection, of four file drawers and 132 manuscript volumes, concentrating on families of Stony Creek and vicinity, is available to the public at the Warren County Historians Office. It is not available on-line. Stony Creek Historical Association Journal, Volume 2, No. 1, an issue in memory of the Haskells, with photos, was issued by the Association in Summer 2001.
