September 8, 1910Massena, Sept. 8Olin H. Tilden died at his home on Andrews street in this village Monday evening at 11 o'clock after a brief illness of pneumonia.
Olin H. Tilden was born in Moira, NY, Sept. 27, 1843, one of a family of six boys and one girl, his father being Horace Tilden, an early settler of Massena. Nearly all his life had been spent in this town, except a short time in the West. He enlisted in Company F, 106th N. Y. Volunteers and served through the Civil war. On June 29, 1865, he married Miss Carrie Wright, of Cornwall, who survives him, with three children, Mrs. A. A. Smith, of Massena; Otis A. Tilden, of Syracuse, and Ernest E. Tilden, of Norwood, Ohio, He is also survived by one brother, Rufus H. Tilden, who lives in California.

..."He was born Nov. 10,1860 a son of William Short who came from England and Jane Elliott Short of Waddington. He married Miss Mary J. Joyce of Waddington and they lived on the farm from which he passed away. She died Sept. l6, 1911. He married on Dec 31, 1919, Miss Bertha Janet Rutherford of Madrid, at the Norwood Congregational parsonage. He was a member of the Scotch Presbyterian Church at Chipman.
Surviving are his widow, two sons by the first marriage; George A. Short of Albany and Earl J. Short, who operates the home farm; three grandchildren, Ruth Short of Albany and Byron and Frederick Short of Madrid."

March 15, 1931Potsdam, March 15- The funeral of Mrs. Julia D. Fox, widow of the late James Fox, who died at her home on Pierrepont avenue, Sunday, will be held from the Presbyterian church, Wednesday afternoon at 2, Rev. H. V. Frelick, presiding.
Mrs Fox was born near Madrid in 1853, the daughter of William and Mary Haskell Dixon. She attended the Potsdam Normal in 1870 and 71 and was for some years a teacher in this section teaching at schools in Madrid, Norfolk and Hermon. She completed her course at the Normal in 1897.
Mrs. Fox was a prominent member of the local Womens Relief Corps and took keen interest in the alumni association of the Potsdam Normal of which she was the treasurer for some time. She was a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star and one of the visiting officers for several terms. She was a member of the Fortnightly club of this village.
She is survived by one son, Dixon R. Fox of the faculty of Columbia University, New York, and by two sisters, Mrs. John A. Smith of Endicott and Mrs. Edmund Lavourell of Yonkers. Mr. Foxs death occurred about a year ago.
