July 19, 1897)Death Of Mrs. Marsh
An Estimable Lady Who Has Gone to Her Long Rest.Mr. Geo H. Marsh and daughter Miss Fannie take this method of expressing their grateful thanks to neighbors and friends of their wife and mother, Mrs. Marsh. Especially do they feel grateful to the B.P.O.E. whose unremitting kindness will never be forgotten.
Mrs. Marsh has been a resident of Leadville since 1883 and until recently enjoyed good health and participated, actively in the social duties and pleasures of her large circle of friends. The necessity for a delicate operation led to her leaving for California last February and there she underwent is successfully returning home two weeks ago apparently completely restored to health.
But a few days elapsed, however, until serious symptoms of illness presented themselves and medical advisers at once pronounced it to be a very bad case of Bright's disease. Mrs. Marsh, at their suggestion, at once went to Colorado City, but every skill and attention proved unavailing and she succumbed quickly to the disease.
Charles E. Haskell removed to California about 1870.

William Haskell of China, Maine, 1758-1827, His ancestors and descendants
By Annie Haskell ParksHerbert James Haskell left the area around China Lake and settled in Weeks Mills the small village at the south end of the Town of China. He lived in a number of houses but finally settled "on the Dirigo Road about 2 miles from the village on a farm he purchased in July 1904. At this site he ran a store and also the farm. This farm is still in the Haskell family. Herbert's son Guy ran it until his death in 1961. Guy's widow Harriet is living there at this time - 1982. The farm buildings have been torn down and only the house and garage remain.
Herbert managed to acquire many of the surrounding properties and from an old journal that he kept it is shown that he rented some for a time before selling at a profit.
