August 3, 1923Wells A. Parker, a lifelong and most highly esteemed citizen of Arcade, died suddenly Tuesday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Dr. G. G. Davis on Pearl street. He had been ill for a long time, but had recently been considerably improved. Tuesday he arose and partly dressed, when he was seized with pains in the region of the heart and laid down again and called his niece. Prompt attention was given to him, but to no avail, and he passed away in a short time.
Wells A. Parker was born in the town of Arcade May 19, 1855, the son of Philander H. Parker and Betsey Ann Welles. His entire life has been in the town of Arcade, where he for many years conducted the farm. About fifteen years ago he moved to the Village of Arcade, where he has since made his home. Several months ago he went to live with Dr. and Mrs. G. G. Davis, who have given him every care and consideration in his illness, and tenderly ministered to his every wish.
Wells Parker was a man of sterling character, genial disposition and a good sportsman, who enjoyed pursuing the elusive trout. He enjoyed the companionship of his fellows. He served the town for many years as assessor and has many times refused to be a candidate for other offices. He was president of the Arcade Rural Cemetery Association at the time of his death. He was a man who enjoyed the confidence of all with whom he did business. He is the last one of the immediate family to "Cross the River". His nearest surviving relative is his niece Mrs. G. G. Davis

April 13, 1923Found Body in Creek
Miss Minnie Parker, a lifelong resident of Arcade, whose family has been prominently identified with the history of Arcade from pioneer days and who has made a warm place in the hearts of many friends, while temporarily insane, threw herself into a deep pool in the Cattaraugus Creek and was drowned Tuesday morning. She has been ill for some time and constant worry over her condition is supposed to have unbalanced her mind. About five o'clock Tuesday morning she left the house of Dr. G. G. Davis on Pearl street, where she and her brother, Wells Parker have been staying for a week, on account of Mr. Wells serious illness. Her absence was discovered, a few minutes afterward, and a search in the immediate neighborhood and up East Main street, where her home has been for a number of years, but no trace of her could be found. The scope of the search gradually widened and searching parties went out to look about 9 o'clock. D. H. Bray, Frank Carter and W. S. Davis, who made up one of the search parties, discovered the body lying in the water of Cattaraugus creek in a pool in the rear of Stanley Hatch's farm on East Main Street. She was completely clothed, with the exception of her hat and coat, which were found on the bank about 20 feet further up the stream from the position of the body. The coat was neatly folded and laid away carefully behind a large stone together with her hat.
Interment in Arcade Rural cemetery in the family plot.
Deceased was 49 years of age. She was born in Arcade, the daughter of Philander Parker and his wife Betsy N. Wells Parker. She was very highly esteemed by all who knew her and her sudden death in this totally unexpected manner is a sad shock to her many friends.
