14070. George Haskell

George enlisted in the Royal Marine Artillery on December 18, 1860. He served on thr HMS Leopard from November 1862 to 1866. In 1865 he advanced to corporal in in 1866 to sargeant. In 1868 he was promoted to sergeant major. He served on the HMS Philomel from 1873-1877. He retired im 1884 after 23 years of service.

In 1878 he transferred to the 3rd Lancashire Artillery Volunteers in 1878 with residence ar Blackburn where he served until he applied for discharge in 1884.

In 1881 he recieved Perak War Medal in recognition of his service in the Malay Peninsula.

At his discharge his record showed a total of 23 years and 134 days which included 7 years and 320 days afloat.

George, Jane Ann, William, Jane, Edith and Beatrice departed from England 23 February 1905.

They arrived at Millett, Alberta, Canada on 17 March 1905.
