When Jirah Haskell was born is uncertain. Two dates are recorded in the literature of this family. George Randall in his "Genealogy of Roger Haskell" reports a dob of 19 June 1775 and also a marriage to Molly Haskell (intentions 20 November 1808). The vital records of Rochester, recording apparently data from the gravestone, gives the date of birth as circa 1780 and the date of death as 10 December 1785. The data in the Rochester vital records is accepted in this report. He is buried in Hammond Cemetery, Mattapoisett, Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Zebulon settled in Steuben, Maine, in 1809 in Pinkham's Bay about three miles from the village center. Later he moved into the village where he operated a carding mill.
