1156. Thomas Haskell

Thomas, of Hardwick, was a private in Captain Samuel Dexter's company, Colonel Leamer's regiment; pay abstract for mileage from home and return, dated Roxbury Camp, January 1776; mileage (150 miles) allowed; company was raised in Hardwick, New Braintree, and Oakham.

Andrew, of Hardwick, a private, served with Captain N. Leonard's company of Colonel N. Wade's regiment. He enlisted 26 June 1778 with his enlistment to expire 1 January 1779. Company was stationed at Rhode Island.

He also served with Captain J. Cutler's company at Rhode Island for 6 months 10 days. He was included on company returns dated East Greenwich 17 September, 6 November, and 13 November 1778. He was on the muster roll dated East Greenwich 1 December 1778, reported as sick in hospital.

Andrew, of Hardwick, shown on company receipt for ammunition, given to Captain Barnabas Sears dated Dorchester Camp, February 15, 1776. He was also listed as a private with Captain Edmund Hodges' company, Colonel Josiah Whitney's regiment, where he enlisted on May 5, 1777 and was discharged on July 6, 1777, service 2 months 9 days, at Rhode Island, travel included. Also, certificate dated Hardwick, November 27, 1778, signed by the Selectmen, certifying that they had paid said Haskell and others £14 each as a bounty to serve on expedition to Providence, agreeable to act of June 12, 1778. Also, list of men mustered, said Haskell appears among men raised from Colonel Converse's regiment for service at Rhode Island, Captain Robertson's company; engaged for town of Hardwick, mustered July 10.

2999. Dorcas Haskell

Dorcas Haskell did not marry.  She died at age 76 of "apoplexy" 4 March 1881.


1159. John Haskell

John, of Granville, was a private in Major Ball's company, Colonel William Sheppard's regiment; Continental Army pay accounts for service from March 1, 1777 to December 31, 1779.

John, of Granville, was included in a return of men raised to serve in the Continental Army from Granville company, 3rd Hampshire Regiment; sworn in at Granville 19 January 1778 for a term of 3 years; joined Captain L. Ball's company of Colonel Shepard's regiment.

John, of Granville, was a private in Major's company, Colonel William Shepard's regiment; Continental Army pay accounts for service from January 1, 1780 to March 1, 1780, residence Murrayfield; also in Major's company, Colonel Shepard's (4th) regimen, return made up for the year 1780, dated West Point, and endorsed "Capt. Fuller's Company"; enlisted March 1, 1777, enlistment during war; reported discharged March 1, 1780.

3018. Eunice Haskell

On 4 June 1820, John Haskell appeared before Judge Willougby.

In his statement he indicated that his daughter Unis was 23 years old and deaf and dumb and had no use of her right hand.

Roger enlisted in 1775 or 1776 for 11 months, Captain Shepherd / Colonel Porter.
He volunteered in 1777 and served 1 month 14 days.
He died April 8, 1847.
