12703. Hezekiah Rowell Haskell
Hezekiah confined himself to industrial pursuits at home and never went to sea. He was a merchant, shoemaker, and proprietor of the "Haskell House." He built and kept a general store in the building where later Wm. R. Sellers had a meat market and owned the same. Then Hezekiah resorted to shoemaking until his health failed. This "Haskell House", where transients were accommodated, later became the home of Ralph H. Haskell, son of Hezekiah's brother Eben, where he resided when this information was compiled in 1935, being the next house, northwest, to Solomon's house that was torn down. Hezekiah's son, Henry Noyes Haskell, lived upstairs in his father's house before moving to Stonington. This house displayed a large sign in front "The Haskell House", all seeking a place to stay. and here Hezekiah took boarders and It is remembered that manv of those employed in the Silver Mine stopped with Hezekiah.
