Noah was included in a list of men belonging to Captain Bicknell's company of Colonel Putman's regiment, in service at West Point.

Noah Haskell served in the Revolutionary War.  His will was administered November 14, 1799 by his second wife Sarah Gibbs.

13 Nov. 1838 Sarah Haskell appeared before Barnstable, Mass. probate court making oath to her right to pension of Noah Haskell.
She was widow of Noah Haskell of Middleborough
He served 2 years or longer
He was discharged Nov. 1881
She married Noah 2 Sep 1790
Noah died 29 May 1799
He was at West Point March, 1780, a member of Capt. Bicknell's company.


1012. Benjamin Haskell

Benjamin, of Freetown, was a private in Major's company, Colonel Thomas Marshall's regiment; Continental Army pay accounts for service from June 3, 1777, to May 11, 1780; residence Freetown, credited to town of Freetown.

He also served in Captain Amasa Soper's (4th) company, Colonel Marshall's (10th) regiment; return of men who were in camp on or before August 15, 1777, and who had not been absent subsequently except on furlough; also, same company and regiment, muster roll for January 1779, dated West Point; enlisted June 3, 1777, enlistment 3 years.

He also served in Captain Joseph Norton's (Freetown) company, Colonel John Hathaway's regiment; enlisted August 2, 1780, discharged Aug. 7, 1780, service, 6 days; company marched to Rhode Island on an alarm.

Enlisted February or March 1776 for 1 year under Captain Seagrave .
Enlisted June or July 1777 for 3 years under Captain Amasa Soper, Colonel Thomas Marshall.
In 1820, he cites wife Betsey, age 50, and daughter Charity, age 8.

1017. Josiah Haskell


Josiah Haskell was found on a list of men raised in Bristol County to serve in the Continental Army as attested by James William's, Superintendent for said county. Also found on a list of men raised in Bristol County, to serve in the Continental Army, agreeable to resolve of Dec. 2. 1780. Returned as received by John Burt at Taunton April 18, 1781 to be conducted to Springfield and delivered to Col. Shepard and attested by James William's Superintendent for said county. He was aged, 16 years, stature, 4ft 11 in, light complexion, occupation: laborer; engaged for town of Dartmouth; term, 3 years. Also found as private, Capt. John William's company, Colonel Joseph Vose's regiment.  On muster roll for January 1782, sworn to at West Point, enlisted April 4, 1781.

Revolutionary War Pension claim 44193
Enlisted in March 1781 and served in Captain Williams' and Goodall's Companies, Colonel Joseph Vese's Massachusetts regiment.
Discharged December 1783.
Resident of Chenango County, New York.
In 1820, he referred to his wife as aged fifty years, and to five children - three sons, aged fourteen years, eleven years and five years, and to two girls, aged sixteen years and nine years.
In 1818, Josiah stated that he was aged 51 years and upward.

Josiah Haskell of town of Otselic, Chenango, N.Y., being old that William Amsbery of the same place being exr and admo'r and to obtain from the United States my pension that may be due at my death and the residue to my son John Haskell as being my only heir has this 7 June 1828. Josiah Haskell. Samuel Burgess. Stephen Nichols. Taken and acknowledged before Joseph Boum, commissioner for county of Chenango, June 7, 1828, paid 30 Sept. 1829.

Believe the reference to sole heir John Haskell, refers to John being underage and thus due pension. In 1828, the other four children mentioned in the pension application would have been of age.]
