Per his son Isom Haskill
William joined in 1861, was captured and enprisoned at Andersonville for 3 months and 10 days, and sent north as an exchange prisoner.
Isom's mother, William's first wife,  Alice Broadwell Haskill died at St Joseph, Missori, February 20, 1880.

Thad Haskell, late resident of 155 Gerth avenue, West Salem, at a local hospital, July 29, at the age of 51 years. Son of Mrs. Emma A. Haskell of Salem, and brother of James V. Haskell of Salem, E, J. Haskell of Eugene, and I. W. Haskell of Arusa, Calif. Also survived by a cousin, Mrs. William Benner of Salem.
