Georgianna F. McCormick

Monroe Commercial
February 2, 1860

Tuesday evening, the 31st , Mrs. Georgianna F. Haskell, second daughter of David McCormic, Esq., of this city, in the 20th year of her age.

Mrs. Haskell was born in this city February 22, 1840. In her last sickness, on the 28th of January 1860 [sic], she was united in marriage to Mr. George P. Haskell, of Peru, Ill., and three days afterward, her youthful husband was called to mourn the loss of one who had long been endeared to him. Her last sickness was occasioned by a cold taken not many weeks since, which, with marked rapidity, undermined her strength and hurried her to her grave. She died peacefully, trusting in her Savior and commending Him, with
touching earnestness, to one and all who had gathered about her bedside to witness her calm departure.

Mrs. Haskell had while living, accrued for herself by the amiability of her temper, and the kindness of her heart, the esteem and love of a large circle of relatives and friends. To them how painful the separation from a daughter, sister, wife and friend. But they mourn not as those who have no hope, for their loss is her gain.
