Col. W. H. Haskell, seven years editor and proprietor of the Amboy Journal, died at his home in Denver the last of February. Col. and Mrs. Haskell celebrated their golden wedding about two monts ago. He was a printer by trade and expert in his craft. He enlisted June 1, 1864, and was elected Lieutenant Colonel of the 132nd Illinois Voluntary Infantry. He bought the Journal in the fall of 1872 and sold it to E. W. Faxon in 1879 and moved to Kansas where he built up a large printing trade. He died at the home of his daughter.

Stephen Eustace Haskell graduated from Rensselaer Institute at Troy, NY in 1846 and was a teacher there for one year.  He then was engaged in the manufacture of oil-cloth in Lansingburgh, NY.

Robert Chandler Haskell graduated from Yale College in 1858.  He then spent two years teaching at Oahu College in Hawaii.  After the death of his brother Stephen in 1860, he took over the business of manufacturing oil-cloth in Lansingburgh, NY.
