Francis was city clerk of Claremont New Hampshire co-owner of a furniture store on the main street. He and his wife were very much into the social activities of the town. Apparently he led the parades on holidays and his wife was organist at one of the churches.

My grandmother, Aseneth Maria Smith Haskell lived till 1930 on Grey Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I visited her there about that time and remember it well. I marvel about remembering visiting a woman that was born in 1845!

Robert Francis Haskell, my uncle, was living with Aseneth when she died. He lived with our family for a while and later he lived, alone, on Austin Street in Cambridge in a rooming house till his last days.

I was with him at the Cambridge City Hospital when he died. His life was sad. He was within months of graduating from MIT with a degree in architecture when he left. He was a gifted artist the rest of his life but died living on public assistance.
