August 1, 1964MORRISTOWN, N.J., July 31 - Mrs. Lila F. Ross Haskell, a civic leader in Chicago died of cerebral thrombosis yesterday in Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was 90 years old and lived at 480 Park Avenue in New York and also had a home in Gladstone, N.J.
Mrs. Haskell was the widow of Frederick T. Haskell, former vice president of the Illinois Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago. She was formerly the mother-in-law of Henry R. Luce, editorial chairman of Time, Inc. His marriage to her daughter, now Mrs. Lila Tyng, ended in divorce.
Mrs. Haskell was formerly chairman of the women's board of directors of the Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago, and was the first person to be made an honorary life member of the board. Her father, Dr. Joseph P. Ross, was instrumental in founding the hospital.
In 1916 Mr. Haskell raised money to equip a base hospital in France for Allied soldiers.
She was married twice and both of her husbands died. Her first husband was Robert S. Hotz. "
Surviving, besides her daughter, are a son, Robert S. Hotz of New, York, 4 grandchildren
and 12 great-grandchildren.
