Clyde W. Oicles (Pop), March 8, 1914-July 13, 2011, resident of San Jose, died July 13, 2011 from complications after a fall at the age of 97.

He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene (in 1990) and son, Jeffrey (in 2010). He is survived by his son Gerald (Ellen) Oicles of San Jose, daughter Kathleen (Steve) Abramson of Vancouver, WA, daughter-in-law Sandra Oicles of Petaluma, CA, and sister-in-law Barbara (Harold) Simonsen of Ritzville, WA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was born in Roseburg, Oregon, and moved around the Pacific Northwest before settling in Chehalis, WA. He attended Washington State College (now WSU) eventually earning a degree in Geology in 1941. It was at WSC that Pop met our mother, Arlene O'Donnell. They were married for 49 years until her death in 1990.

During WWII, he worked for Army Ordinance testing munitions in the Los Angeles area. After the war he worked for oil and engineering companies in southern California. The family moved to Bell, CA in 1948. He was an avid outdoorsman, a long-time member of the Sierra Club, and took us on many camping trips. He became the scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #40 and remained as their leader long after his sons had grown up. Pop was a skilled raconteur, recounting stories of growing up in Depression-Era Washington State. His stories brought to life those tough times, such as living in a chicken coop, 'liberating' a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner, and witnessing the Omak Stampede on the Colville Reservation in 1940. Clyde and Arlene retired to Santa Rosa in the early 80s. An optimistic and gregarious fellow, he joined the Men's Garden Club and made many friends. He won prizes for his bread and beer at the Harvest Fair.

LADEAU, Catherine L., 93, of Zephyrhills passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008. She was born May 2, 1915, in Westbrook, Maine, to Henry and Ethel (Parker) Bullfinch and moved to Zepbyrhills in 2001 from Standish, Maine.

Mrs. Ladeau is survived by five sons, Thomas Verrill of Zephyrhills, Fla., Robert Verrill of New York, David Ladeau of Indiana, Ronald Ladeau of California and Charles Ladeau Jr. of California; 10 grandchildren; 11 great- grand-children; and four great-great- grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Ladeau Sr., and a son, Raymond Verrill.

PARKER-Shirley Mary (Jacobs) Parker, 85, died of age-related causes in Santa Maria California on October 28, 2007. Shirley was born November 30, 1921 to Walter and Nona Jacobs in Chicago, Illinois.

She traveled cross country with her family and settled in Southern California in the 1930s. Shirley attended Pasadena City College and graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Shirley married Joseph Frank Manildi on February 14, 1944. Mr. Manildi preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother Wilbur Jacobs and long time companion, Emory Ellis.

Shirley is survived by three children: Stephen Manildi (Jan), Anna Manildi (Jack Galloway), and Laura Strauss (Phil); five grandchildren: Joe Manildi, Chris Kucera, Teresa Manildi, Jeff Manildi, and Victoria O'Brien; and five great-grandchildren. Shirley had a great sense of humor, she loved to travel, loved to spend time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed the companionship of her dogs. She will be greatly missed.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born May 19, 1926, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Oliver J. and Mildred G. (Bulfinch) Schieber.

"Norm" attended South Pasadena High School and was inducted directly into Stanford University in 1943. He served 2 years in the U.S. Navy before graduating with the Tau Beta Pi Award of Excellence in Civil Engineering, from Stanford University in 1948. He attained a Law Degree from the same University in 1951. After leaving Stanford he worked as a Civil Engineer in construction for 38 years, partnering with 3 co-workers to form HANE Construction of Long Beach.

He married Shirley Dalton Gates in 1956. They had 2 sons Michael Carr and Craig Martin before divorcing in 1972. He retired in 1988, and moved to the High Desert with his current wife Sylvia Irma Schieber.

He was an avid fisherman and spent his retirement traveling, reading, gardening, and of course fishing with old and new friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Mildred Schieber, 2 step-sons, Paul Dalton Schieber and Charles Ira Reed, close friend Shirley Dalton Schieber and numerous colleagues and close friends.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Irma Schieber of Palmdale, Calif., sister Margery Schieber Silk of Westport, Conn., son Michael Carr Schieber of Fiji, son Craig Martin Schieber of Costa Rica, 2 step-daughters Cindy DeHaven Gates and Constance Lee Conrad, 4 grandchildren, Alexandria, Diandra, John and Brian, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Barton W. Dukett, 91, of Bigelow, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2009. He was born on April 9, 1918 in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Alexander Emory and Georgia Hooper Vickery Dukett.

He graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College, and had a chiropractic clinic in Little Rock. He was President of the Chiropractic Association, was a life member of Sertoma International, and a member of numerous civic organizations.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Dukett and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Dukett of Bigelow; one son, Robert Menken of Massachusetts; one daughter, Barbara Walko of Bigelow; three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
