May 15, 2002Herbert D. Corning of Somerville, Mass., formerly of Venice and employed for most of his working life as a milkman, died Friday, May 3, 2002, in Somerville. He was 81.Mr. Corning was born March 30, 1921, in Somerville to the late Herbert and Marjorie (MacKenzie) Corning and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Gary of Wilmington, Mass.; two daughters, Carol Masotta of Groton, Mass., and Janet Moran of Greenville, S.C.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

March 6, 1998Doris L. Corning, 79, Venice, died March 3, 1998. She was born May 23, 1918, in Medford, Mass., and came to Venice 14 years ago from Somerville, Mass. A graduate of Fischer Junior College in Boston, she was a bookkeeper for a wholesale grocery company for more than 25 years. She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Venice and College Avenue Methodist Church in Somerville.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert; two daughters, Carol J. Masotta of Groton, Mass., and Janet C. Moran of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Gary J. of Wilmington, Mass.; three sisters, her twin Dorothy Griffith of Marshfield, Mass., Shirley Costain of Texas and Sylvia Austin of California; two brothers, Norman Beckett of Annandale, Va., and John Beckett of Boynton Beach; and eight grandchildren.
