April 9, 2013NORWAY � Nellie (Lapham) Swan, 83, of Paris, passed away on Friday, April 5, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Greenwood on Jan. 3, 1930, daughter of Carleton and Lillian (Cross) Lapham. She was a graduate of Gould Academy, Class of 1946. She attended the Auburn School of Business and graduated in 1950 while she was working at Lewiston Hardware and Plumbing.
On Oct. 1, 1950, she married Kenneth C. Swan. They moved to Paris Hill in September
1956. Nellie worked for many years at Wilner Wood Products as an office manager. Her husband passed away on July 2, 2012, and they will now be together again.She was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Paris, where she sang in the choir, for 46 years. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her two children, Linda Mitchell and husband, Vernon, and Alan Swan; granddaughter, Katie Swan; step-grandchildren, Dale Mitchell, Vance Mitchell and Bart Mitchell; sister, Claire Smith of Connecticut; and numerous nieces and nephews.
