ELIZABETH S. RUTH, 94, of Chehalis, Wash., died Oct. 8.

Mrs. Ruth was born in Ohio on Sept. 8, 1902. She married George W. Ruth in 1925. She lived most of her married life in Denver, where she was a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Survivors include daughter Nancy McFarland of Utah; son James of Washington; five grandchildren; 13 grandchildren.


Doreen Smith

Doreen (Smith) Fowler, 91, of New Britain Avenue, Hartford, wife of the late Allan W. Fowler, died Monday (Jan. 27, 1986) at Avery Heights, Hartford.

She was born March 3, 1894, in Superior, Qis., and had lived in Aimsbury prior to moving to Hartford.

She attended the University of Wisconsin. She was a 65 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and also the Delta Delta Sorority.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs, Frederick (Betty) Amith of Simsbury and Mrs. Dorothy Griffith of Berkeley, Calif.; five grandchildren, Robert and Allan Griffith, Zela Griffith Clairborn, and Todd and Claudia Smith; and five great-grandchildren.


77549. Lloyd Arthur Meech

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Lloyd Meech, 79, who died last Saturday at his home in Harrison. The services were conducted by the Rev. Dean Lan, with burial being in Rockton cemetery.

Mr. Meech was born April 19, 1884, in Rockton township. He spent his entire life in this part of Winnebago county, residing most of the time on a farm in Harrison township. He was town clerk for 37 years, a former school treasurer for Shirland and Harrison, a director of Burritt Mutual Insurance Co., a prominent leader in the Grange organization of the county, and active in the Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Harrison Congregational church.

Surviving are his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Pope of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Miss Frances Meech of Rockford.

MEECH - Mrs. Mary Maria Meech, 87, formerly of rural Harrison, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1981, in Amberwood Nursing Home, Rockford. Born Feb. 23, 1893, in rural Rockton, daughter of George Edwin and Elizabeth Bell Moffatt.

Married Lloyd Meech in Harrison Township, March 18, 1914.

She and her husband farmed in the Harrison area. Former member of Harrison Congregational Church where she was church organist. Charter member of Winnebago County Home Bureau and active in other community affairs.

Survivors include four nephews, Dwight Gleasman, Rockton, Roger Moffatt, Elgin, George Moffatt, in Florida, , and Byron Meech, Beloit, Wis.; and three nieces, Mrs. Keith (Evelyn) Burkitt, Falls Church, Va., Mrs. Ralph (Eva) Arnold, Beloit, Wis.;, and Mrs. Donald (Esther) Rumage, Rockton.

Predeceased by her husband, Lloyd, Jan. 11, 1964; a sister, Blanche Gleasman; and a brother, Fred, Moffatt.

Miss Frances Robinson Meech, 78, of 1933 Huffman Blvd., Rockford, died Jan. 16, 1967 in Rockford Memorial hospital. She was a former Beloit Business woman. She had made her home in Rockford the past 15 years.

She was born Nov. 16, 1888 in Rockton township, the daughter of Samuel Byron and [Eva] Marsh Meech. She was a member of the Congregational church and the DAR.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ralph Pope of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two nieces, Mrs. Ralph Arnold, Mrs. Don Rumage; and one nephew, Byron Meech, all of Beloit, Wis. S

he was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Ralph in 1953 and Lloyd in 1964, and brother-in-law, Ralph Pope in 1965.

York, Pa. - Jennie Meislahn Shaw, 92, of York, fied Tuursday, Dec. 5, 1996, in Misericirdia Comvalscent Home. Born Sept. 22, 1904, in Montrose, Ill., to Christian and Helena Krick Meislahn.

Former Rockford resident. Employed 20 years as administrative assistant for Rockford chamber of Commerce. Member and former deaconess of Second Congegational Church, Rockfords.

Survivors include daughters, Frances S. Anderson and Susan S. Anderson, both of York, and catherinr S. Guyot of Damphierre, France; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one Brother, Christion D. Meislahn of Sun City, Ariz.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Frona C. Stout, 105, Minneapolis, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005.

Mrs. Stout was born Frona C. Cline on Oct. 22, 1900, in Minneapolis. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Tim Stout, in 1988; and a daughter, Mary Louise Austin, in 1985.

Survivors include a son, Cline of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


Mary Louise Stagg

Mary Stagg Tobey, 88, formerly of Dennis, died Nov. 8 at Starr Farm Nursing Center, Burlington.

She was born in Leonia, N.J., graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1934 and attended Skidmore College. She married Wendell Banks Tobey in 1939 and lived in Wyckoff, N.J., and Ridgewood, N.J., for 30 years.

After her divorce in 1973, she lived in Dennis for 34 years. She was an active member of Dennis Pines Golf Club, Mashantum Tennis Club and Dennis Garden Club. She was an avid golf, tennis and bridge player, a skilled knitter and a bookkeeper. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and making people laugh.

Survivors include four children: Thomas Stagg Tobey of Los Altos, Calif., Mary Ellen Manock of Ferrisburg, Vt., William Banks Tobey of Amherst, Mass., and Ann Christie Tobey of Sunnyvale, Calif.; six granddaughters; a niece; and two nephews.

She was also the mother of Susan Clark Tobey, who died in 1998.
