Volume 11, No. 1, March 2002Following a lengthy illness, Mildred E. Haskell, 9S, of Northeast Harbor, Maine and Dunedin, Florida, USA died on October 3, 2001 at a healthcare facility in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Born February 11, 1906 in New York City, Mrs. Haskell was the daughter of Charles P. and Ethel (Harriman) VanDerKar. She was a very active member of the Union Church of Northeast Harbor until 1993, when she became incapacitated. She had also served many years as treasurer of Mount Desert Public Health Nursing Association. She loved to garden, was an avid bridge player and excellent cook.
Her husband of 55 years, Dr. G. Merrill Haskell, predeceased her, as did her brother, Arthur V. VanDerkar, and sister, Ethel Saunders. Survivors include her son Sterling Haskell and wife Dorothy of Dunedin; Grandson Bruce Haskell and his wife Helen, and three great-grandchildren: Bridget, Neil and Lisa, all of Tenafly, New Jersey; two nieces and a nephew.
Internment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.

October 4, 1976OSTERVILLE - Services for Atty Edwin R. Trafton, 64, of Osterville, a former resident of Norwell and Braintree, will be held at 1 Wednesday at the United Methodist Church here. Interment will be in Mosswood Cemetery.
He died Saturday. A native of Portland, Me., Trafton, a trial lawyer, maintained a Court St., Boston law office. He specialized in Civil cases and practised before the federal and district courts. He was graduated from Edward Little High School, Auburn, Me., and Northeastern Law School in 1938. Trafton was employed by the Aetna Insurance co. early in his career and opened his own law office in 1940. He was a member of Delta Lodge, AF & AM of Braintree, The Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations and was a former member of Braintree Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda H. (Haskell); a son, Thomas R. Trafton of Osterville; a brother, Dr. Howard M. Trafton of Chestnut Hill; two sisters, Mrs. William Ruth Singleton and Miss Vesta Trafton, both of Los Angeles.

December 30, 2003YARMOUTHPORT - John "Pete" Haskell, 86, died Dec. 22. He was the husband Of Ruth (Harris) Haskell.
Mr. Haskell was born In Northeast Harbor, Maine. He graduated from Bates College and Western New England College and began a teaching and coaching career In Milton. He continued his career In Longmeadow and In 1970 returned to Milton as the assistant superintendent Of schools. In 1980, he and his wife retired to Norwich, Vt., later to Hendersonville, N.C., and most recently to Yarmouthport.
Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Nancy Magnussen Of Duxbury and Wendy Haskell Of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son, Richard Haskell Of South Burlington, Vt.; and five grandchildren.

Wife of the late John "Pete" Haskell, who died Dec. 22, 2003. Mother of Nancy Magnussen and her husband Donald of Duxbury, Wendy Haskell and her husband Peter Dickow of Grand Rapids, MI, and Richard Haskell of South Burlington, VT. Also survived by five grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.
A former secretary in Boston and a homemaker. Born in Boston, graduate of Colby Jr. College. Raised family in Milton and Longmeadow. Retired in 1980 to Norwich, VT, Hendersonville, NC and recently to Yarmouthport.
