September 8, 2010Helen Elizabeth Waite, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday morning, September 3, 2010. Just five days after her 96th birthday. Helen was born August 29, 1914 in Millinocket, Maine to Laura (Morgan) and Herbert Bruce.
She grew up in Millinocket and graduated from Sterns High School in 1932 and 2 years later graduated from Gorham Normal School in 1934. She taught elementary and Junior-high school in Millinocket and years later taught remedial reading in Port Neches, Texas where she resided for almost 50 years. In 1999 she moved to Anahuac to be closer to her daughter and her family. While in Port Neches she was a member of the First Methodist Church, played lots of bridge with friends at the Senior Citizen Center and collected old tired dolls to fix up and donate to the churches around Anahuac Christmas Bazaar. She was known for her enthusiasm and a crazy sense of humor.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert E. Bob Waite, her son Robert B. Bobby Waite and her sister Margaret Carrigan.
Left to Cherish her memory are her daughter Laura Lee Lolly Parker of Anahuac; grandchildren Helen Ruth Beall and husband Roger, Charles Chuck Robert Waite and wife Merca of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Cobey Waite Adams and wife Teresa, John Quinton Adams of Anahuac and Robert Tate Adams and wife Rebecca of Houston; great-grandchildren Leila and Bobby Beall of Oklahoma, Daisy and Coley Christian Adams of Anahuac and Lellian Grace Adams of Houston, along with several nieces, nephews and loving friends.

December 19, 2008MILLINOCKET � Gerald L. Jones, 99, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1909, in Berlin, N.H., the son of William and Bertha Jones.
He worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during the war and was a brakeman for Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. He was a machinist at Great Northern Paper Co., for 35 years, and was a member and past master of Nollsemic Lodge No. 205 AF & AM, Millinocket.
Gerald is survived by two sons, Lawrence E. Jones and his wife, Carol, of Evergreen, Colo., and Ted Jones and his wife, Kitty, of Carabasset Valley; a sister, Glenna Scarpa of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-stepgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Margaret; and a brother, Harold.

February 16, 1992MAURICE E. ASHTON, 88, of Winter Haven died Friday at Winter Haven Hospital. A native of Lynn, Mass., he moved to this area from Los Angeles. He was an aircraft engine maker, Protestant and a member of the Grangers Club.
He is survived by two sons, Maurice Jr. of East Lebanon, N.H., and Arthur S. of Plantation; two daughters, Dorothy Yinglin of Winter Haven and Leah M. Racicot of Fedhaven; 19 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

January 21, 2009DUNEDIN, FL - Leona R (Goodridge) Penney, 86, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Lynn, passed away Sunday January 18, 2009. She was the wife of the late Bernard Penney . Born in Lynn, Leona was the daughter of the late Albert H. and Lillian (MacNair) Goodridge.
She was a graduate of Lynn English High School. Prior to her retirement, she was an instrument tester for General Electric in the aircraft division. She was an avid tennis player and bowler, and she started the original woman's morning bowling league at Lucky Strike Bowling Alley. Leona resided in Florida for 38 years, and won a state tournament in Bowling when she fist moved there.
Leona is survived by her daughter Carolyn and her husband Edward Force of Merrimac, her son Richard and his wife Janet Penney of Lynn, her brother Albert H. Goodridge Jr. of Salem, NH, three grandchildren, Edward Jr. and his wife Kris-Force, Cheryl Force, Suzanne and her husband Ty Calder, five great grandchildren, Cassidy Force, Hailey Force, Amanda Picucci, Michael Picucci and Randal Calder, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Gwendolyn Sutherland.

May 17, 2007LITTLETON - Carol (Haskell) Bailey, 75, of Dahlia Drive, died at Life Care Center of Acton on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. She was the wife of Thomas A. Bailey Jr.
She was born in Lynn, on Dec. 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Courtlandt and Alice (Carter) Haskell. She grew up in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School and Burdett Secretarial School in Lynn. Mrs. Bailey made her home in Wakefield, Swampscott, Concord and most recently Littleton for the past 37 years.
Mrs. Bailey was employed by General Electric as a secretary for several years and was married in 1952. She also worked as a waitress for the Old Oaken Bucket in Westford and later as a cashier at Donelan's Supermarket in Littleton for 12 years.
She enjoyed painting watercolors at the Littleton Council on aging, and loved spending time with her family, her pool and going to the beach.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan Bailey of Silver Lake, N.H., Sandra Bailey of Lancaster, Tracy Ann Bailey of Littleton, and Thomas C. Bailey of Littleton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Balchunas in California; and many life long friends.
