Arthur W. Nelke Jr., 84, died Saturday at Seaside Nursing Home, where he had been for about three weeks.

A son of Arthur Sr. and Maude Richmond Nelke, he graduated from Lewiston High School, received his B.A. from the University of Maine and his master's degree from Columbia University.

Mr. Nelke was a history professor at Newark (N.J.) Academy for 30 years. Upon his retirement in 1972 he moved to Yarmouth, where he made his home for some 20 years.

Mr. Nelke was an accomplished organist.

Several cousins survive.

FLORIDA and ELLSWORTH �  Dale A. Richmond, 84, died Nov. 13, 2005, in Elkton, Fla. He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Ellsworth, the son of Clyde and Carrie (Cox) Richmond.

Dale graduated in 1939 from Ellsworth High School. He was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team. He worked at the State Liquor Store in Ellsworth and retired as a machinist from Pratt & Whitney.

He is survived by his wife, Violet (Hughes); stepson, Scott Bridgeman, of Fresno, Calif.; stepdaughter, Donna Bridgeman of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; step-grandchildren, Alexander and Christopher Barrett Ryan, Remington, Mackenzie and Maverick Bridgeman; nieces, Jeanine Rogers of Trenton, Patricia Walters of Lewistown, Pa., Diane Castle of Surry; nephews, Stan Richmond of Surry and Wayne Rogers of Ellsworth.

FRESNO, CA - Violet Richmond died on November 20, 2008, in Fresno, California. She was born Violet Hughes on June 8, 1923 in Queens, New York to Joseph and Violet Hughes.

She lived most of her adult life in Springfield, Massachusetts where she raised a family and ran a summer boy's camp with her first husband, Donald F. Bridgeman. Violet earned a Bachelor of Science from Springfield College in 1975 and worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Massachusetts for over twenty years until her retirement.

She retired to Elkton, Florida, in 1997 with her second husband the late Dale Richmond. In 2005, she moved to Fresno, California, to be near family. She was active in painting and crafts all her life and in her retirement participated in amateur theatricals.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Bridgeman; son, Scott Bridgeman; sister, Marilyn Rock, and six grandchildren.
