HAVERHILL, Mass. -- Ruth E. (Gowell) Warren Murray, 90, of 327 Main St., died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, in Hale Hospital.

She was born June 5, 1910, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late Albert and Lily (Sweetland) Gowell. She moved to East Hampstead in 1966 moving to Haverhill in 1996.

She was a graduate of Lynn English High School. Mrs. Murray was a stitcher in Lynn and Lawrence, Mass., shoe industries and had also been a nurse's aide at Lynn Hospital. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Gautreau Post, American Legion in Lynn. She enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, knitting and bingo.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, James L. and Dorothy Warren of Derry and Robert and Diane Warren of East Hampstead; two daughters, Eleanor Harrington of Winthrop, Maine, and Arlene M. Allen and her husband Robert of Bradneton, Fla.; three stepsons and their wives, Arthur and Mary Ann Murray of Lynn, Donald and Carol Murray of Tewksbury, Mass., and David and Caroline Murray of Goffstown; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Gowell of Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Alton Warren, who died in 1965, and her second husband, Harold Murray, who died in 1997.

WINTHROP - Surrounded by her loving family, Eleanor Ruth Harrington passed away on Sunday July 28, 2019, at the age of 85. She had been a resident of Marshwood Center in Lewiston since December of 2016.

Eleanor was born on Sept. 23, 1933 in Lynn, Mass., the oldest child of four children to Ruth and Alton Warren. Upon graduation from Lynn High school she joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 specializing in communications at Warren AFB in Wyoming during the Korean War conflict. She was stationed in Langley AFB Virginia until she was honorably discharged in January 1955. After leaving the service, Eleanor met and soon married Gene Harrington on June 3, 1956. After a number of moves throughout the Eastern US, Eleanor and her family settled in Winthrop, ME to raise her six children.

Eleanor enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, crochet, cribbage, bowling and card games. Being U.S. service veterans, both Eleanor and Gene became very active members in the American Legion Post 40 in Winthrop, ME. While an active member in the Legion, Eleanor held many positions of responsibility including 1st Vice Commander. While serving at the Post, one of Eleanor's tasks, which became a labor of love, was to run the weekly Bingo games. Eleanor would spend hours planning and playing Bingo with her fellow members and friends.

After the passing of her husband Gene in 1998 due to lung disease, Eleanor became active in the Trek across Maine - a multi-day, cycling event which is the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association. Eleanor worked the rest stops annually providing refreshments for the riders and became known as the "Dancing Granny"!

Eleanor is predeceased by her husband Gene Harrington, her parents Ruth and Alton Warren, her three siblings James, Robert and Arlene as well as her brother-in-law James Harrington and Sister-in-law Elizabeth Marshall.

She is survived by her six children; Colleen (Bill) Prescott, Winthrop, ME, Charlene (Don) Smith, Boca Raton, FL, Gene (Laine ) Harrington, Woodstock, GA, Dean (Angela) Harrington, Livermore Falls, ME, Kathleen (Jeff) Dupont, Readfield, ME, Darlene Michaud, Winslow, ME, Her grandchildren; Brian and Katie Prescott, Donnie, Melissa, Casey and Amy Smith, Kevin and Dana Harrington, Brandon and Sean Harrington, Nick Purnell, Courtney McGinnis, Lindsey Harrington, Joey Dupont, Leah Frost, Stephanie Michaud and Sasha Michaud, four step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother-in-law and his wife, Gary and May Harrington and sister-in-law Dot Warren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

HAVERHILL - Mr. James L. Warren, 78, of Haverhill, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after being stricken ill suddenly at home.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Alton J. and Ruth E. (Gowell) Warren. He attended Lynn public schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1953.

Mr. Warren was employed as a Union Painter and was a member of the Painters Union, Local 1280, Revere from 1964 until 1995. He then went to work for the Williams Painting Company located in Derry, N. H., retiring last year.

A devoted husband, father of 10, grandfather and great grandfather, he worked and lived for his family. He cherished his time spent with family, attending many athletic events or any extra curricular activities they were involved in. He was known for having a great sense of humor and taking ribbings from his entire family. The "Mr. Fix it" of the family, he painted all of his children's residences as a labor of love.

He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy J. (Snow) Warren of Haverhill; his loving children, Linda M. Mazza and her husband Charles A. of Kingston, N. H., Laurence J. Warren and his wife Donna of Exeter, N. H., Cheryl A. Dawidowicz and her fiancé Demetri DeCicco of Haverhill, Tammy J. Copeland and her husband Jeffrey of Sandown, N. H., Lori A. Wells and her husband Leonard D. of Greenbush, Maine, Jodi M. Daley of Haverhill, Holli A. Dallon and her husband Mark S. of Kingston, N. H., Jami L. Herring and her fiancé Jamie M. Brown of Haverhill and James A. Warren and his wife Alexandra E. of Salem; a sister, Eleanor R. Harrington of Winthrop, Maine; 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane L. Warren, great granddaughter, Alexis Warren, and siblings, Robert Warren and Arlene Allen.

DERRY, N.H. �  Robert L. Warren, 75 of Derry, NH, formerly of E. Hampstead, NH, died Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Care Center in Derry, after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Warren was born October 9, 1936 in Lynn, MA, and was a son of the late Alton and Ruth (Gowell) Warren. He was raised and educated in the Lynn area, and lived for many years in East Hampstead. Mr. Warren worked for over 40 years as a long haul truck driver, and drove for several different trucking companies.

He was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Diane L. (Greenleaf) Warren in 2005, and by his sister Arlene Allen. Members of the family include a son Robert and his wife Sally of Pembroke, ME., 4 stepdaughters, Sherry Wood of Derry, NH, Stacy Grant & Don Pappalardo, of Londonderry, NH, Kathleen Donahue & her husband Peter of Atkinson, NH, and Rhonda Collins of Bradenton, FL. EAST HAMPSTEAD -- Diane L. Warren, 67, died May 22, 2005, in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

Mrs. Warren was born in Portland, Maine, on Jan. 1, 1938, the daughter of Clifton and Blanche (Lothrop) Greenleaf, and was educated in Portland schools.

She was a resident of East Hampstead for the past 31 years, formerly living in Plaistow.

She was formerly employed as a certified nurses' aide for Salem Haven Nursing Home in Salem. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Family members include her husband, Robert L. Warren of East Hampstead; four daughters, Sherry Wood of Derry, Stacy Grant of Dracut, Mass., Kathleen Donahue of Atkinson, and Rhonda Collins of Epsom; one stepson, Robert Warren of Pembroke, Maine; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Steele of Dracut and Norma Haskell of Standish, Maine; two brothers, Edward Greenleaf of Portland, Clifton Greenleaf of Manchester; several nieces and nephews.

Frederick E. Russell, Jr., age 81, of Danvers and formerly of Lynn, died on Friday, December 13, 2019 at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Joan (Nickerson) Russell with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn in 1938, Fred was the son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Warren) Russell.

He was raised and educated in Lynn, graduated from Lynn Trade in 1956 and has lived in Danvers for the past 40 years. Following high school, Fred served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for over 12 years. He worked as a Master Pipefitter at Metro Swift for many years and assisted his son as a lobsterman in his free time. He enjoyed stamp collecting, tinkering in the yard and was an avid reader. He loved fishing and often took trips to upstate New York where he fished Lake Ontario and fly fished the Salmon River. He loved spending time at home with his family and friends and his beloved dogs Tipper and Chin and his cat Lucy.

In addition to his wife Joan, Fred is survived by his loving children Frederick Russell, III and his wife Maura of Lynn and Cheryle Russell of Lynn; his cherished grandchildren, Amy Russell, Nicolle Brusky, Kaitlyn Russell, Keith Russell and James Russell; his adoring great-grandchildren, Devin, Grace and Emma; his sister Geraldine Sawyer of Lynn and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fred was the grandfather of the late Joseph Russell and brother of the late Richard Russell.

BANGOR, ME. AND NORTH PALM BEACH, FL. - Roy Gardner Warren Sr., 63, passed away July 1st after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Roy was born July 3, 1955 to father Gardner and raised by loving mother Dorothy, along brother Jim and sister Bev Mansell (Tom, daughter Tracy).

Born in Salem Mass and raised in Maine, where at a young age he met smoking-hot future wife Martha Pinkham. He was an accomplished athlete, driven entrepreneur, and devoted family man.

He is survived by Martha; kids Nikki Cavallo (Jeff), Mac (Ashley) and Roy Jr. Known lovingly as "Bumpa"; he forever will be remembered by grandchildren Caroline, Jack, John Malcolm, William, Bella, Anthony and Sophia.

Best described by a friend as " completely generous and honest", Roy lived his life by his own terms, guided by his Christian faith, love and an eternal optimism that he maintained until his last day.

Dr. C. Seymour Card Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7. He was born in South Paris, Maine, on Jan. 28, 1928, to C. Seymour and Marion Card.

C. Seymour Jr. had a distinguished career as a doctor of veterinary medicine. In 1951, he received his bachelor of science of animal husbandry degree from the University of Maine. In 1955, he earned his master of science degree from Cornell University, and in 1977, he received his Ph.D. from Colorado State University.

He played football for the University of Maine and was a member of the Phi Mu Delta fraternity.

Dr. Card ran his own private practice in South Clarendon, Vt. He was a professor of veterinary medicine at Penn State University, Colorado State University, and the University of Idaho. He then returned to Penn State University as the head of the Veterinary Sciences Department. At the University of Arizona in Tucson, he served as the State Association Director of Agricultural Research Stations. Prior to Dr. Card's retirement, he was the executive secretary of the Animal Health and Diagnostic Commission for the State of Pennsylvania. Since 1977, he and his wife Carolyn have resided in Wellington, Colo.

During his career, he received numerous awards for outstanding leadership, excellence in teaching, and for distinguished contributions and accomplishments.

In memory of his parents, Dr. Card founded the C. Seymour and Marion Card College Scholarship Fund at Oxford Hills High School in South Paris, Maine.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn; his three children and their families, Candace Solano of Fort Collins, Deborah Keys of Louisiana, Mo., and Bruce Card of Tucson; sons-in-law Henry Solano and Bruce Keys; and daughter-in-law Sydney Card; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Waitsburg resident, Jerome Donald "Don" Haskell, 84, died June 16, 2008, at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Walla Walla, Washington.

The memorial service will be held in Colorado at a later date. His grandson, Jason Haskell, will officiate at the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington.

Mr. Haskell was born August 20, 1923, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Jerome Shaw and Maud Everett Long Haskell.

He was raised on the family farm at Wray, Colorado, and attended most of his school years in the Fort Morgan/Wray area. His family moved to Denver in his late teens and he graduated from East High School in Denver. Following his WWII service in the US Navy, he managed Emerald Valley Ranch for several years before joining the Ironworkers Union.

In May, 1943, he and Rose Marie Major married in Denver. She died in 1975. He married a second time to Sara "Sally" Spencer Malgeri in January, 1977, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She died in 2001.

Don loved working on the tallest structures - he was never afraid of falling. He was proud of the four children he and Rose Marie raised and enjoyed Sally's five adult children. His last years were spent in Washington with his daughter and her family.

Survivors include two daughters: Laurie Richardson of Waitsburg, Washington and Jeri Haskell of Homer, Alaska; a son, Charles Haskell of Ontario, Canada; daughter-in-law, Antonia Haskell of Manila, Philippines; four step-children: Beth, Sue, Sara and Seth Malgeri; a sister, Elnora Price of Richfield, Idaho; eleven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Vera and Ruth, and his oldest son, Donald J. Haskell.

Service for Benjamin A. Haskell, 70, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Osburn, Idaho. Burial will be at the Osburn Cemetery.

Mr. Haskell, who was born in Colorado, died Friday. He graduated from North Colorado University and served with the Army.

Mr. Haskell married Lola Berry in 1954 and moved to the Osburn area in 1963. He was a shop teacher at Wallace High School for 31 years, retiring in 1992. He later moved to Rathdrum. He had been a member of the Osburn Lions Club and the Wallace Eagles Lodge and served as an elder at the Osburn Bethany Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of more than 45 years; three daughters, Janet Smith of Coeur d'Alene, Linda DiRaimo of Moscow, Idaho, and Marshella Lesterberg of Rathdrum; three brothers, Leon and Stanley Haskell, both of Rye, Colo., and Vance Haskell of New Plymouth, Idaho; two sisters, Eileen Herrick of Sterling, Colo., and Alta Dashofsky of Boise; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gerald Leon Haskell died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Wray, after a four-year battle with cancer.

Leon was born April 30, 1931, the second child to Gerald "Jerry" Haskell and Lola May (Mann) Haskell at Wray.

For most of the first 12 years of his life, the family lived in the Beecher Island area, where he went to school for his early education. The family then moved to the Wray area where he grew into manhood.

In 1951 he married Betty Critchfield. To this union three children were born: Karen Jean, Sharon Ann and Randall Leon.

Leon tried farming back in the 1950s, then worked building phone lines from Kansas to Texas. He was a lineman for Highline Electric in Holyoke from 1961-1972.

He married Dolores (Krogmeier) Gaskill on January 22, 1972, lived in Holyoke and operated Haskell Fertilizer Sales & Service for 25 years. Leon and Dodie moved to the Haskell home place just outside of Wray in 1998. He continued to sell fertilizer, Conklin and specialty products up until just a few months ago.

Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers Ben and Vance, one sister Clara, brother-in-law Elmer Herrick and nephew Kevin Herrick.

Remembering him with special love are his wife Dolores; children Karen Mick and husband David of Brush, Sharon Peckham and husband Randy of Spring Creek, Nevada and Randy Haskell and wife Susan of Holyoke; step-children Ken Gaskill and wife Karol of Amherst and Cathy (Gaskill) Heltenberg and husband Bill of Elm Mott, Texas; brother Stan Haskell of Wray; sisters Alta Dashofsky of Wray and Eileen Herrick of Sterling.

Leon has 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, many other children who called him "grandpa" and many other relatives and friends.

Vance Granger Haskell, 66, New Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Holy Rosary Medical Center, Ontario. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth with the Rev. Bill Frey of the Church of the Brethren, Fruitland officiating. There will be a memorial dinner at the Sand Hollow Community Hall immediately following the funeral. A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth.

Vance was born to Gerald and Lola Haskell July 1, 1938. He was the fourth of seven children. He grew up in Wray, Colorado. He went into the Army right out of high school where he served in the military police. He escorted prisoners from place to place. Upon returning from the Army he moved to Idaho and became a firefighter for the BLM and the Boise Airport. At this time he met his wife Diane Mattson and they married in 1964. In 1970 they adopted their daughter at three days old. Jeri has been the shining star in her father's eyes from that day forward. Her children Tony and Kaila kept grandpa going until the end. His last request to Jeri was to bring the children to see him.

Vance loved the western life. He loved living in the country and being involved with ranching. He truly enjoyed helping friends with their farm and ranch work spending many hours driving truck, combining grain or doing mechanic work on a tractor or a pickup. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a great friend to all that knew him.

Vance is survived by his former wife, Diane Johnson, Keizer; his daughter, Jeri Burnside, Bend; his grandchildren, Tony Luchi and Kaila Burnside; his brothers, Leon Haskell and Stan Haskell, Wray, Colo.; and his sisters, Alta Daschofsky and Eileen Herrick, Sterling, Colo.

Vance was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ben Haskell; a sister, Clara Haskell; a brother-in-law, Elmer; and a nephew, Kevin Herrick.
