BRENTWOOD   Virginia L. "Ginny" Fowler, 94, formerly of Hampton and North Hampton, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

She was born June 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Samuel P. and Ida (Tarr) Garland, and had resided in Hampton, Concord and North Hampton.

Mrs. Fowler attended elementary school at the now historic Centennial Hall in North Hampton, which benefited from her continuous fund-raising efforts, and was a graduate of Hampton Academy with the class of 1933.

She was employed as an assembler for 38 years at the former James Millen & Company in Malden, Mass., retiring in 1973.

The greatest love of her life was her husband, the late Ormond Samuel "Jack" Fowler, who predeceased her in 1994, with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage.

She is survived by her sister, Phebe Mason of Pennsylvania, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also predeceased by her brothers, Samuel, Robert and Page Garland.

WE REMEMBER: Having never driven a car (only a tractor on the farm) she was lovingly referred to as the "Roadrunner," always seen walking wherever those dancing legs would take her and dressed in the most wonderful outfits.

She loved to travel and dance and did so from the Casino Ballroom at Hampton Beach to many dance floors in Europe and Canada. She also enjoyed ice cream, lobster and boiled dinners. An avid reader, she was very knowledgeable on the subject of birds. In her later years she enjoyed volunteering for the Hampton branch of the Salvation Army.

Wherever she went, she brought fun, laughter and joy.
