73999. Ruth Elizabeth Haskell

Norwell Mariner and Patriot Ledger
April 5, 2014

Ruth Betty Elizabeth Duquet, 85 years of age, of Norwell, formerly of Braintree, passed away April 1, 2014, at the Stafford Hill Assisted Living Facility in Plymouth.

Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and so much more to so many people. She lived a fantastic life raising her family, being a homemaker and writing for the Hanover Mariner.

She was born and raised in Braintree on Central Street. Her parents, Robert and Lillian Haskell, and she had an older brother, Robert Jr.

Braintree was close to Ruths heart so its not a surprise that she raised her family there, at 168 Parkside Avenue, later moving to Norwell. Her summers were spent at the family cottage on Great Herring Pond in Plymouth, right across the cove from her now beloved in-laws.

A proud Mayflower descendant, Ruth was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Alden Kindred. She was an incredible astrologer, a subject she had studied her entire adult life. Her horoscope advice was much appreciated by family, friends, and even strangers. She was an excellent pianist, crafter, and brownie baker; all qualities that anyone who knew her would attest to.

She rarely left the house without lipstick and her leopard scarves on, and most trips out included a stop at least at one antique store. Betty had an eye for antiques, especially granite ware, any color, and piece; she had it in her collection. Ruth was kind, unique, talented, and smart too. She graduated from Harvard University Summa Cum Laude. She was number one in the classroom and number one in so many hearts, especially her husbands heart. He always made sure to tell her that. Her family are all very proud of her and honored to have her in their hearts forever.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Attorney Robert W. Duquet of Norwell; and her two children, Bruce W. Duquet of Norwell and Robin E. Anderson; her son-in-law, Dale Anderson; and her granddaughter, Katrina E. Anderson, all of Bourne. Betty lived a lovely life and will be missed dearly. 4SGI.dpuf
