August 26, 1999Harry W. Haskell, 65, of North Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at his home. Born June 26 1934, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Wilbur A. and Hattie (Fiesler) Haskell. A lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, he was educated in Wilkes-Barre schools.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6325 and the American Legion. He was last employed as a personal care aide for the past four years at Mountainside Manor in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Carley.
Surviving are his sons, Harold, George and Harry, Jr., all of Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Frederisa Moses, Delaware; and Dorothy Davis, Wilkes-Barre; 10 grandchildren; brothers, William, Wilkes Barre; and John, Maryland; and sister, Marie, North Carolina.

July 13, 2017Charles Pennell, longtime resident of the town of Danvers, beloved husband of 57 years to the late Helen P. (Doig) Pennell, died peacefully on July 11, 2017, one month before his 99th birthday.
Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late John C. and Adeline E. (Haskell) Pennell. Raised and educated in East Boston, he graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1935 from East Boston High School. From 1935 to 1939 he worked alongside his father at Maverick Mills of East Boston. While working days at the mill, he continued his education at M.I.T.'s Lowell Institute, where he earned his degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. He was then accepted into the General Electric apprenticeship program (1939-1942), taking leave to serve his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army, achieving the rank of Captain.
Following his service in the army (1942-1946), he returned to General Electric, where worked in the Aircraft and Turbine Planning Division for 32 years, until his retirement in 1979. He was a steadfast and dedicated professional known for his attention to detail.
Despite not being blessed with children of their own, Charlie and his wife Helen were immensely influential in the lives of scores of children of family members and eventually their children.
Anticipating retirement, Charlie joined the North Shore Flying Club, earning his pilot's license - a lifelong dream. He served as treasurer of the Club for many years. After 25 years of flying, Charlie hung up his wings at the age of 81.
Avid swimmers, Charlie and his wife Helen were honored by the Danvers YMCA for their active membership of over 60 years.
Charlie was also a dedicated communicant of St. Richard Parish in Danvers.
Throughout his life, Charlie was intensely interested and engaged in his family, his community and what was happening in the world.
Charlie is survived by his sister, Rita Austin of Pompeno Beach, Fla. and his many loving relatives. In addition to his wife Helen,
Charlie was predeceased by his brother, Clayton Pennell and his nephew Scott McCloy.

Eliot Huse Middleton, born October 3, 1948, passed away peacefully at Marist Hill Nursing Home in Waltham late Saturday night November 24.
His parents, Elinore and Irving Middleton, were loving and caring of Eliot's needs, as was his sister Janette and her husband Philip, and in more recent years the wonderful services of Waltham Committee Inc.. his various Day activity centers, and Sing Along Singers, a cheerful concert group for special needs adults.
He had a large extended "clan" / family of Middletons, Cranshaws, Yellands and Farengas and thus could be at their holiday gatherings.
He was particularly close to Janette's children Deborah and Philip and the grandchildren Lauren, Alison and Audrey Farenga.
He also had many friends at his WCI residence, especially housemates Charlie and Michael, also the various caretakers of his needs, such as Ceci, Evelyn, Claude, Marie and Steve.
Eliot attended Perkins School for the Blind for several years, and could read and type Braille, sing in choirs, and swim. He enjoyed the Belmont pool, and yearly summer vacations with Janette for 30 years on Cape Cod. He appreciated church services and organ music, whether at the Methodist Church in Belmont and occasionally St Josephs on various holidays. Eliot was a good natured, well mannered and appreciative person, and stoic in adversity including during the sudden unforeseen case of Metastatic Pancreatitis, the cause of his demise.
Son of Franklin Cushing and Fannie Story and adopted by Warren Day and Clara Decker after his birth parents both died when he was a young child.

April 3, 2005NEW LONDON -- Mona D. Rowell, 89, of Lyon Brook, died unexpectedly March 31, 2005.
Mrs. Rowell was born July 1, 1915, in Billerica, Mass., the daughter of Frank Leslie and Elizabeth Barker Davison. She graduated from Billerica High School in 1932 and Lowell Teachers College (now UMass Lowell) in 1936 as an art and music major. For a number of years, she taught art and music in Lancaster.
In 1939, she married Edwin Walker Rowell, a superintendent of schools throughout Massachusetts, and with him and their family was active in Lancaster, Baldwinville, Whitman and Pepperell, Mass.
Mrs. Rowell was an artist who for more than 50 years was involved in early American decoration. She was a trustee, president and curator of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration, and was instrumental in establishing the organization's museum.
She summered for many years with her husband, children, and family members at a family cottage on Lake Sunapee before moving to New London.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Edwin.
Family members include three children, Elizabeth M. "Betty" Hill of Duxbury, Mass., Frank D. Rowell of Sandwich and Martha L. Roth of Sunapee; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rowell worked researching the history of the craft for many years for various institutes including Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts; she appeared several times on NHPTV's show "Antiques and Americana" with George Michaels. She also published articles about Early American Decoration for antique magazines and lectured for art organizations. She sold her own work through her studio and the League of NH Craftsmen Fair at Mount Sunapee for years.Her love of art extended beyond her decoration to a love of bellows restoration, reverse glass painting, crewel, embroidery, weaving and knowledge of antiques.
She was also predeceased by a brother, Clyde Davison.

October 19, 2002ROWELL DONALD (BULL), passed away Oct. 12, 2002. He was born in New Haven, CT on May 9, 1915. He was the son of Frank Bailey and Christine Virginia (Baker) Rowell of Mt. Kisco and Manhattan, NY and Bar Harbor, ME (Barberry Ledge).
He attended the Allen Stevenson School of NYC and Groton School of Groton, MA graduating in 1933. He entered Harvard University receiving his B.A. degree in 1937 followed by a Harvard School of Design Bachelors in Architectural degree in 1940 and a Masters in Architecture in 1970. In 1940, Donald became employed with Caribbean - Architecture and Engineering (Vorhees, Walker, Foley and Smith) designing Army bases in Trinidad, B.W.I. and in New York City. Donald circumvented his family deferment and medical disqualifications out of a finely developed sense of patriotism and devotion to country, to enter the war effort. He attended the U.S. Navy Midshipmen School of Notre Dame where he earned a commission and was assigned to photo intelligence and aerial reconnaissance.
He served with distinction in the Pacific Theater on two ships, USS Yorktown CV-10 and the USS Princeton CVS-23 (where he survived a devastating dive bomber attack and ship abandonment). He was very proud of his attainment of Lieutenant, USNR rank and his life threatening service to country.
Donald's love affair with Miami began with his 1940's design work when he passed through Miami on his way to Trinidad and when he envisioned the opportunity to create, in Coconut Grove, a true Walter Gropius Bauhaus modern architecture. In 1943, he returned to Miami with his family, immediately upon discharge from the Navy. He became employed by Robert Law Weed and Associates working out of two historic Miami buildings, Miami Daily News and the San Sebastian Building. Donald rooted himself to Miami and "the Grove" when he broke ground for what would be "his space", his Bauhaus home and office at 4130 Braganza Ave., Coconut Grove. Here he experimented with clear-story ventilation, minimal barriers between indoor and outdoor, natural indoor lighting and, natural terrain landscaping. He opened his own architectural practice in 1949 out of his residence in Coconut Grove. His notable architectural accomplishments were, the Wesley Foundation of the University of Miami, a Miami International Airport expansion design, several university dormitories, and numerous private residences.
Donald was an engaged Miami community member as a founding and life member of the Fairchild Gardens Foundation and the Miami Museum of Art and History, the Coral Reef Yacht Club and the South Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He was a life and contributing member of many organizations, United States Naval Institute, Hasty Pudding Club and Phoenix Club of Harvard, World War II Memorial, USS Princeton and USS Yorktown Associations, Admiral Nimitz Foundation, U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, World Wildlife Fund and, the Harvard, Princeton, Yale Club of Trinidad and Tobago.
Donald was married four times and was predeceased by his first three wives. His first wife, Anne Martin, daughter of John Lyman and Edith (Richards) Martin of Worcester, MA. They had three children, Dexter Richards Rowell, born December 31, 1939, Diane Rowell Gregory (Bruce), born January 29, 1942 and Christine Edith Rowell Hawkins (Clay), bor n November 29, 1945.
His second wife, Mary Jamieson, daughter of Louis and Marie Jamieson of Warren, PA. They had one child, Leslie Jamieson Rowell, born October 9, 1952, deceased.
His third wife, Jane Patterson, daughter of Robert A. and Jassamine (Hatch) Patterson of Tarrytown, NY. No issue. Two stepsons, James Kee Irvin of New Orleans, LA and John Patterson Irvin of Dallas, TX.
His fourth wife Elizabeth Pearce Rowell, daughter of John Pearce and Catharine Stevenson (McKim) Howard. No issue. Two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Anne Eignus and Catharine Howard Eignus.

Howard Francis Parkhurst, age 94, died quietly with family the evening of Nov. 22, 2012 at his residence in Cumberland Furnace, TN.
He was a native of Hollis and Amherst, NH. He was self employed most of his life as a selective forester for the area and town of Hollis, and many years as a dairy man, produced quality horse hay, lumber for woodworkers and also nursery stock for landscapers. Serving for nineteen years on the Amherst Conservation Committee, eighteen years as the treasurer, also on several of the town committees including a place for senior citizens to meet and assisted living facility now known as Parkhurst Place of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Noyes and Hazel O. Marshall Parkhurst, a brother Winston Henry Parkhurst of Hollis and Howard's wife Shirley Storm Parkhurst of Hollis and Amherst. He is survived by two brothers and their families, Austin S. Parkhurst of Hollis, NH and Arthur S. Parkhurst of Indianapolis, IN; A son, Warren H. Parkhurst and a daughter, Elizabeth C. Quinn, both of Dickson, TN; a granddaughter, Christina, wife of Michael Forst, their daughter Michaela and son Emerson of Naples FL; and a stepson, James Boggio of Dexter NM.

August 19, 2014Priscilla Adams (Parkhurst) Moody, 91, of Hollis, NH, died Wednesday July 30, 2014 at the Crestwood Nursing Home in Milford, NH, after a short period of declining health.
Born September 8, 1922 in Hollis, NH she was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Adams) Blood. She was also predeceased by a son, David Parkhurst; a brother, Charles Willard Blood; three sisters, Ester Stewart and Elizabeth Bean and Myra Lustig.
Priscilla was a member of the Hollis Congregation Church.
At one time, she worked as a hairdresser, she worked for Lemon Tree Food Service and also the Hollis Elementary School System. She then went on to work for Brookdale Fruit Farms, retiring after twelve years of employment.
Priscilla attended meetings for the blind with the Blind Association. Prior to her eyes going bad, she enjoyed crocheting and needle work. She enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, but most of all, she enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk and Mitch Miller show.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Bell, of Hollis, Karen Marino and her husband Angelo, of Hollis; one son, Neil Parkhurst and his wife Kathleen, of Amherst; one sister, Hilda Tolles, of Hollis, NH; eight grandchildren, Lisa Blaisdell and her husband Phil, of CA, Kerrie Steckbeck and her husband Jeffrey, of FL, Paul Falco and his wife Melissa, of CA, Ronald Marchant and his wife Sarah, of Brookline, NH, Jessica Marchant, of Nashua, NH, Michael Parkhurst and his wife Lisa, of Milford, NH, Nicholas Bell, and his partner, Kristy Dawn Haney of Williamston, SC, and Matthew Parkhurst and his wife Teri, of FL; as well as eleven great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
