July 30, 2021Jerry Haskell passed away July 23, 2021, at the age of 66. He was born on April 19, 1955 to Jack and Elsie Haskell in Montana. After the death of his mother, Jerry and his family went to Mooseheart, Illinois, an orphanage near Chicago where he spent most of his middle school and high school years.
Jerry was a brilliant man with many talents. He was the life of the party, leaving the sound of laughter everywhere he went with his goofy jokes and antics. Also fast with a joke and quick with a smile, he brought joy to those he loved and shared his life with. Jerry was a rambling man for the early two decades after high school. He was a jack of all trades and moved throughout the western states and panned for gold in Arizona. He had gold fever and he knew just about everything there was to know about gold, how to find it and how to mine it.
Jerry followed the gold to Yreka and it was there he found one of the two loves of his life, Donna. With his marriage to Donna, Jerry settled down and they bought property on the side of a small mountain outside of Yreka, California. Jerry and Donna shared a rich warm life and marriage together for over two decades. Unfortunately, Donna passed in 2013, leaving behind Jerry and their dogs Coco and Mitzi there on the side of the mountain panning gold.
Jerry came to find the other love of his life, Elaine Steidlmayer, just a few years ago. God brought this couple together in a holy union joined by the hand of God before family and friends. He shared his dreams with his bride and they sold the property on the mountainside and ventured out on a new dream, settling on the other side of a small hill with their doggies. Laughter and joy was the language of their intertwined hearts. A shared vision of a life together in their new home warmed their hearts and life. Their love story was cut short last Friday with the passing of Jerry.
Their love story is eternal and Jerry and Elaine are names that are emblazoned on the hearts of their friends and family. For Jerry lovingly became the dad for Elaine's children, Rebecca and Elizabeth, and their children. Jerry is also survived by his sister, June, and his granddaughter, Destiny, as well as the Mooseheart Alumni and his fellow bowlers. He will be missed beyond measure for always.
