Bangor and Searsport � Rev. John H. Merry Sr., 98, went to be with Jesus, July 23, 1993. He fought a courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Woodland (Aroostook County), March 8, 1895, the son of Herbert and Selena (Raven) Merry.
He was a minister of the Gospel for more than 70 years. Until this year, he planted a large garden annually, sharing his produce with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Arline Merry of Bangor; two sons, Earl & Hazel Merry of Searsport, Ervin & Faustina Merry of Belfast; daughters, Marie & Alex Opdahl of Monroe, Ina & Irving Moulton of Knox, Millie & Lloyd Sylvester of Searsport and Ruth & Herman Robbins of Belfast; 2 daughters-in-law, Delores Merry and Barbara Merry Nickerson of Belfast; stepson Dale & Ruth Rogerson of Madera, CA; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Sadie (Dyer) Merry in 1974; sons John Merry Jr. in 1985 and Elwood Merry in 1988; grandson, Herman "Peter" Robbins in 1974.
Burial will be in Center Cemetery in East Thorndike.

He was employed as an assembler by the Association for the Blind workshop. He leaves a stepson, Ronald Thiesee of Hampden; two daughters, Ruth Haskell at home and Mrs Margo Jedziniak of Williamansett and a brother, Ralph of Springfield.

October 30, 1974Ralph D. Haskell, 50 of Route 9G, Germantown, N.Y., formerly of Springfield, died Monday in a truck accident in Red Hook, N.Y.
Haskell, a driver for Interstate Dress Carriers of Lehighton, Pa., and was driving a tractor-trailer southbound on Route 9G in Red Hook when he failed to negotiate a turn and his truck went off the roadway according to the Dutchess County Sherriff's Office. County Police said the tractor-trailer sheared off a telophone and overturned, ejecting Haskell and pinning him under the cab of the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dutchess County medical examiner.
Haskell lived in Springfield 19 years before moving to Germantown a year ago. Prior to living in Springfield he lived in Chicopee. He was a member of the First Central Falls Baptist Church in Chicopee Falls.
He leaves a son Ralph D. Haskell, Jr. of Springfield.

She was born June 22, 1944, in California, daughter of the late Kenneth and Fern Olgo Randall Nesbitt.
She worked with Albion Elements for four years. She formerly worked as a bus driver with the Northwestern School District for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Jack Severance, in 1984.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Madden, whom she married Feb. 20, 1988; a son, Mark Hickok and his wife, Julianna, of Springdale, Ark.; a daughter, Terri Hickok of Meadville; three sisters, Susan Randall and her husband, Richard, of Illinois, Joann Deal and her husband, Jim, of Oregon and Sherry Brown of California; a brother, Roger Nesbitt of California; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

February 4, 2011Barbara Jean Severance Gibson, age 67, of Waterford, passed away in her home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Jackson Severance of Edinboro.
Barbara graduated from General McLane High School. She worked at Elgin Electronics for many years and married her husband, Ronald C. Gibson, with whom she shared 45 loving years. She loved and treasured her three children and three grandchildren. She was a "mom" to countless other children throughout her life, including her nephew Jeffrey Dodge, her nieces Cheryl Ishman, Cynthia Kucenski, Jennifer Lloyd and Suzanne Russell and their families, who were all such a strong system of support and love to Barbara and her family throughout her life and her long illness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Joyce Severance, Leona Hill, and Patricia Nesbitt; her eight brothers, Bill, Melvin, George, Delbert, Kenneth, Clarence, David, and Ronald Severance; her father and mother-in-law, Clarence "Hoot" and Beatrice Gibson; and Priscilla Gibson Dodge.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Gibson; two sons, Michael Gibson of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Douglas Gibson of Waterford; one daughter, Andrea Gibson Faulhaber and her husband Dana, and three grandchildren, Daina Leora, Torrey James and Shelby Jean Faulhaber, all of Cambridge Springs; three sisters, Mrs. George (Ann) Watts and Miss Ida Severance, both of Edinboro, and Mrs. Ted (Janet) Roan of Saxonburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Annette Confer; and a brother-in-law, Robert "Terry" Gibson and his wife, Nesa, and their children.
Marion Phillip Haskell was a carpenter. He served in the Army in France during WW1.

November 16, 2012Marjorie Haskell Barbee, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, 11/6/12 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on 11/16/30 in Topeka, to Marion P. and Ruth (Corkill) Haskell.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Barbara (Haskell) Rose and Phyllis (Haskell) Rayas, and her husband, Charles J. Barbee, whom she married on 5/16/51.She is survived by her sisters Marian (Haskell) Perrone and Kathleen (Haskell) Olweiler; sister-in-law Bette (Barbee) Rosebush; her children John Barbee, Larry Barbee, Diane (Barbee) Moore, James Barbee, and Chris Barbee; and the Barbee grandchildren: Corey, Ethan, Jessica, Brandon , Michael, and Nicholas.
Marjorie graduated from Topeka High School in 1948, and attended the school of music at Washburn University from 1948-1951. She was a member of the international music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota, the Washburn Band, Topeka Civic Orchestra, Washburn Singers, and student director of Washburn Choir. Marjorie loved her family, music, books and reading, and laughter. Her grace, intelligence, talent, affection, honesty, and friendship will be remembered every day.

August 6, 2020Kathleen Rae Haskell Olweiler, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of the late Marion and Ada Ruth (Corkill) Haskell.
Kathleen attended Balsbaugh United Christian Church, Hershey. She worked at the State Capital Savings and Loan in Harrisburg from 1960 to 1966 and Olmsted Air Force Base in Middletown as a secretary from 1957 to 1960. Before that she worked at the Topeka Supply Depot and Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, a jewelry store in Dover, Delaware, and the Bell Telephone Company in Topeka. She loved to dance and taught ballet as her first job out of high school. She loved to travel throughout the United States and Europe and stayed for a time with her aunts at the Prospect of Whitby, the oldest riverside pub in London.
She was the widow of Francis L. Olweiler, Jr. and is survived by her four sons, Mark Olweiler, Ross Olweiler, Francis L. Olweiler III, and Nathan H. Olweiler, all of Elizabethtown; her sister Marian Ruth Haskell Perrone of Phoenix, Arizona; fourteen grandchildren and a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a retired foreman for the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown and a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Stauffer Mennonite Church, Hershey and the Elizabethtown American Legion. Additionally, he was a member of many area bands including the New Cumberland Town Band.
Francis was born in Springettsbury Twp. to the late Francis L., Sr. and Viola E. (Withers) Olweiler.
