My wife was under state custody in a foster home, in Palmer Maassachusetts before she was 5 years old. She was taken out of the home in Palmer sometime by ten years old or little before and place in an orphanage  but she didn't remember where. In 1935 she was placed in the Elmer Robinson home in Raynham Massachusetts. Mrs.  Robinson adopted her when she was about 19 and change her name to Alice Robinson and she stayed there until we were married on May 26, 1956

Alice R. Briggs, 85, of Raynham, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Morton Hospital, Taunton. She was the wife of F. Gilbert Briggs.

She was a resident of Taunton for 41 years, before moving to Raynham. Mrs. Briggs was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Raynham, for 73 years. She enjoyed cooking, and doing crafts.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Briggs leaves a son and his wife, Brian G. and Maureen Briggs of Taunton; a daughter and her husband Elizabeth A. and David Gauthier of Berkley; and two granddaughters, Sarah and Hannah Gauthier of Berkley.

A memorial service, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held on Sunday, July 13 at 2 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Raynham. Donations in her memory may be sent to The First Baptist Church of Raynham, remembrance fund, 494 Church St., Raynham, MA 02767.

Benjamin L. Haskell, 81, died Monday of heart disease at Hemet Valley Health Care. No services are planned. McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet is handling cremation arrangements.

Mr. Haskell, who was born in Gladstone, Mich., lived in Hemet for 31 years after living in Indio for 13 years. He owned an equipment rental business. He was a member of the Indio Lions Club from 1958 until 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie M.; son, Robert L. of Hemet; daughter, Kathleen M. Wake of Arkansas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Marguerite McKenzie of Washington.


Jessie Marie Miller

Jessie Marie Haskell, 78, died of cancer Thursday at her home in Hemet. Private services are planned.

McWane Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Haskell, who was born in Encampment, Wyo., lived in Hemet 36 years. Previously, she lived in Indio eight years. She ran an equipment retail business, Haskell Trenching Services, with her late husband in Indio.

She enjoyed gardening, creating original fashion dolls and sewing.

Mrs. Haskell is survived by a son, Robert of Hemet; a daughter, Kathleen Wake of Hemet; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilmer Miller of Encinitas and Donald Miller of Hemet; and a sister, Alice Swanson of Saratoga, Wyo.

HAMILTON: Edward Haskell Hogan, 97, husband of the late Hannah Joan (Walsh) Hogan, died Wednesday evening at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Thomas E. and Bertha M. (Haskell) Hogan and was born in Boston, Mass. Ed lived in Hamilton for 60 years where he and Joanie raised a family of six.

Ed was a successful businessman, and avid golfer, and an accomplished equestrian; but above all he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He graduated from Pennsylvania Military College in 1940, and was deployed with the Army Air Corps in 1942, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After completing his service, he joined his Dad in the family business; Hogan Tire. He and his Dad continued to work together to grow the business, which is now managed by his three sons.

Ed was a true friend to all that knew him, and will always be remembered for his quick wit and entertaining stories.

Surviving him are his six children, Hannah H. Dadhich of Wenham, Thomas M. Hogan of Hamilton, Edward H. Hogan Jr. of Hamilton, William P. Hogan of Hamilton, Kathleen W. Slack of Hamilton, Bertha J. Turnbull of Landenberg, Pa., and their spouses; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul Hogan.

HAMILTON - Hannah Joan (Walsh) Hogan, 79, wife of Edward H. Hogan, died Saturday morning at Mass General Hospital in Boston. She was the daughter of the late Michael G. and Catherine (Roche) Walsh and was born in Manhassett, N.Y.

Mrs. Hogan, or Joanie as most people knew her, lived in Hamilton for her 52 married years where she raised a family of six. Joanie was an accomplished horse woman, a member of the Show Hunter Hall of Fame, and hailed as a Living Legend at Madison Square Garden. Bill Steinkraus, captain of the U.S. Equestrian Olympic Team, said she was the best rider he has ever seen, male or female. Above and beyond all of these accomplishments, she was a great wife, a wonderful mother and a valued friend. She rode that three-legged stool of life perfectly: Faith, Family and Friends.

Surviving her in addition to her husband are six children, Hannah H. Dadhich of Wenham, Kathleen W. Slack of Hamilton, Bertha J. Turnbull of Landenberg, Pa., Thomas M. Hogan of Hamilton, Edward H. Hogan Jr. of Hamilton and William P. Hogan of Hamilton and their spouses; one brother, Michael G. Walsh of NorthCarolina; three sisters, Audrey Colgan of Pennsylvania, Sheila McCollum of North Carolina, and Phoebe Roberts on of north Carolina; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Thomas Walsh, Kathleen Healy and Maureen Cremmins.
