March 18, 2003HODGDON, CARLEEN VINAL HASKELL, 89, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (March 15, 2003). Born in Hartford, Conn., she came here in 1927.
She was principal of Shorecrest Preparatory School from 1947 to 1973. Her family ran the school for 48 years, starting with her mother in 1937 and ending with her son, Bruce Vinal Haskell, who stepped down as headmaster in 1985. The school dedicated its library to her last November. She was a founding member of the Florida Council of Independent Schools, serving as a board member and vice president. She also was a volunteer for the Family and Children's Service Centers.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Haskell and Bruce Haskell; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Ernest W. Files was a physician.

May 20, 1998Barbara Ellen Files Laughlin of Bay View Drive died Monday in a Gorham health-care center after an extended illness.
Born in Westbrook, a daughter of Ernest W. and Mabel B. Haskell Files, she attended Waynflete School, graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in 1935, from Katharine Gibbs School with a certificate in 1937 and from the former Peabody Law School, Portland, in 1941. She was admitted to the Maine Bar in 1941.
Mrs. Laughlin was a member of the Cumberland Bar Association, a former president of Western Maine Wellesley Club, a former president of the Junior League of Portland, a member of the Child and Family Services board and a former president of the Portland YWCA. She also was a vestrywoman of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, clerk and directress of the Altar Guild and a member of the Thursday Group.
Mrs. Laughlin was a volunteer at Maine General Hospital and later Maine Medical Center, worked on the cancer and Red Cross blood drives, and was involved with the Maine Audubon Society here and the Memorial Library.
Surviving are three sons, Kent A. of Kent, Del., Jeffrey S. of Saco and Gary B. Laughlin of North Yarmouth; and four grandchildren.

May 22, 1990PORTLAND - Florence Elizabeth "Bess" Haskell, 101, formerly of State Street, died Sunday at a Falmouth nursing home.
She was born in Portland on June 9, 1888, a daughter of Herbert and Lizzie Randall Thurrell, and graduated in 1906 from Portland High School. She also graduated from the former Gray's Business College, where she later taught for several years.
She returned to the area 20 years ago from Rocky Hill, Conn. She had lived in Gorham before moving out of state. Mrs. Haskell worked as a secretary and receptionist in local professional offices, retiring in 1953.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Connecticut and was the oldest member of Woodfords Congregational Church.
Her husband, William O. Haskell, died in 1953. Surviving are two sons, Albert C. Haskell of Berkeley, Calif., and Richard E. Haskell of Greensburg, Pa., and Old Orchard Beach; six grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Albert Edwin Haskell on 22 October 1993 in Berkeley, Alameda, California. Al was a charter member of the International Haskell Family Association and its first president from 1987-1989 and as a Life member of the association he was a staunch supporter of both the I.H.F.A. and the H.F.A.
Albert is survived by his widow Barbara (Ritter) Haskell, three sons, William B., Charles F., and George E., his brother Richard E. Haskell of Greensburg, PA and Old Orchard Beach, ME and several grandchildren.
Albert was the son of William O. and Florence (Thurrell) Haskell. His grandfather Edwin James Haskell was the General Manager of the Haskell Silk Mill in Westbrook, ME founded in 1874 by his great-grandfather, James Haskell of Rockport, MA and Westbrook, ME.
Al was born 1 March 1917 in St John, New Brunswick, but grew up in New England, mostly in Connecticut. He received his BS in Economics and History from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and MBA from Harvard Business School. His career in insurance started with the Aetna Life Insurance Co., but was interrupted twice by service in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. He left active duty as a Lt. Commander, then attained the rank of Captain in the Supply Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserves.
His insurance career took him to, South Carolina, Texas, and Cincinnati, OH. After positions as Business Manager for the Cincinnati Health Dept. and office manager for a law firm, he finally settled in the Bay area of California as Office Manager for Local 70 of the Teamsters Union in Oakland. Al also served one tour of duty as president of the Oakland Navy League after he retired.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to Albert's widow Barbara, his sons and their families and to his brother Dick. He will be missed.

July 19, 2013Frances Beacock Haskell, age 98 of Murfreesboro, passed away June 15, 2013 at Adams Place.
Born in San Jose, CA on August 2nd of 1914, Frances relocated with her family to Claremont, FL by the age of 10. Graduating from Orlando High School, she attended Tennessee Weslyan College and later achieved a Bachelor of Commercial Science from South Eastern University, Washington, DC.
Her career in bookkeeping and accounting began in Washington, DC where she met her husband, Albert Edwin Haskell. They married in 1942. Soon after their marriage, she moved to San Francisco awaiting his return from the Pacific Theater.
They continued to live in the area until his release from service, when they moved to Rocky Hill, CT, where they started their family. Later, the family lived in Greenville, SC and Dallas, TX before settling in Cincinnati, OH, where she lived for over 30 years. With a brief stint in Morgan Hill, CA, she finally settled in Murfreesboro, where she live the remainder of her life enchanting those she met as she had done all of her life.
Frances was a deeply religious woman who charmed those she met with caring and kindness. Her infectious love of people was evident in her involvement in hosting visitors to the U. S. for many years, her work and support of missions in Cincinnati and Nashville, as well as her support of many other charities such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the The Christian Appalachian Project.
Her love of life was reflected in her travels and adventures, which included Japan, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and most other U.S. states. Finally, her love of nature was shown by the multitudes of plants and cats she has nurtured and cared for over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Beacock; husband, Albert Edwin Haskell; brothers, Forrest Beacock, Carl Beacock and Lewis Beacock.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Frederick Haskell of Murfreesboro, George Erwin Haskell of San Francisco, CA and William Beacock Haskell of Morgan Hill, CA; grandchildren, William T. Haskell, George Jay Haskell, Michelle L. Zuchowski and Kimberly N. Zuchowski; great-grandchildren, Shannon Rae Markham and Brayden Kyle Haskell.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Nelda (Oakes) Beacock, her first husband, Peter Ritter in 1971 and her second husband, Albert Haskell in 1993. Barbara had two brothers, Curtis Beacock and James Bennett who also predeceased her. Barbara leaves her children Nancy Isaksen (Leslie) and Michael Ritter, both of Berkeley; and step-sons William, Charles and George Haskell. Barbara also leaves her grandchildren Peter Isaksen (Anna) of El Sobrante and Stefan Isaksen of Berkeley.
Barbara lived most of her life in Berkeley, was an alumni of U.C. Berkeley class of 1939, and served as a Lieutenant in the Women's Army Corp during WWII. Barbara was a gifted and beloved teacher in the Oakland School System for 25 years and was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. Barbara's mother taught grammar school in Hayward for many years. Barbara loved music, theatre, traveling and most of all, time with her family.

October 15, 2015Richard Emery Haskell, of Saco, Maine, and Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at the Inn at Atlantic Heights. He was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Berlin, N.H., a son of the late William Olsen Haskell and Florence Elizabeth Thurrell Haskell.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by Old Republic Insurance Co. as vice president of underwriting. Prior to that, he was employed by National Union Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh and Aetna Casualty Surety Co. in Pittsburgh, Springfield, Mass., and Hartford, Conn. Richard was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army in the Infantry and Corps of Engineers. Besides serving in the United States, he was stationed in Italy with his highest rank was technical sergeant regimental personnel sergeant major. He served on the Shale Township School Board and its Unity Township School Authority. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Greensburg. He graduated from Wethersfield High School in Connecticut in 1940 and Trinity College, Hartford, in 1946. He also earned the distinctive Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter in 1953. He was elected President of the Allegheny Chapter CPCU in 1958. He was an active member of Charter Oak United Methodist Church where he was a member of various councils and chairman of the Christian Education and Missions Committees. He taught Sunday school and worked with the youth, teaching confirmation classes and leading teams that worked for the Appalachia Service Project. He was a Stephens minister and leader. Previous to moving to Greensburg he was a member of Elfinwild United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, member of the session, chairman of the Christian Education Committee, superintendent of the Junior High Department and church schoolteacher.
Since his retirement, he and his wife spent six months of the year in Old Orchard Beach. He attended First Parish Congregational Church UCC in Saco, where he had been a member since 2010 and Baptist Temple, Ocean Park, Maine. He was a trustee and volunteer for the Old Orchard Beach Historical Society and Museum. He enjoyed playing soccer, volleyball, bowling, cross country skiing, tennis, softball and golf. He was a member of the Old Orchard Beach, later Dunegrass Golf Club. He enjoyed umpiring and refereeing his grandsons' little league and soccer games.
His brother, Albert Edwin Haskell, died in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn Wilbur Haskell; daughters, Ann Hilty and husband, David, of Franklin Park, Susan McCreary and husband, David, of Ross Township, and Lucy Begin and husband, Robert, of Saco; grandchildren, Steve Hilty, Katie Thompson, Mallory Muetzel, Lindsay Peters, Nate McCreary, J.J. (Joe) and Bobby Begin; and great-grandchildren, Edward John Thompson and Matteo Zion Muetzel.

October 23, 2016SACO - Marilyn Wilbur Haskell, 92 of Saco, and Greensburg, PA. passed away Oct. 20, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Troy, N.Y. on April 29, 1924, the daughter of late Arthur and Isabelle Ransom Wilbur.
Lynn was a graduate of Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y. in nursing while working at Albany Medical Center. She later went to work in the pediatric department at Hartford Hospital, where she met her husband Richard Haskell. Lynn and Dick settled in Pittsburgh, Pa. in the 1950s, when she had the pleasure of working with Dr. Jonas Salk who invented the polio vaccine and got to see firsthand his success. She later worked over 20 years at Latrobe Area Hospital for Home Health Care.
Lynn was a member of the Charter Oak United Methodist Church for many years serving as a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, painting, summer vacations in Maine and gardening which she won many awards for her flower arrangements.
In the 1990s, Lynn and Dick retired to their vacation home in Old Orchard Beach where she spent many years enjoying her family and cheering on her grandchildren at all their sporting and theatrical events.
She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Richard Emery Haskell on Oct. 13, 2015.
Lynn is survived by her daughters Ann Hilty and husband David, of Franklin Park, Pa., Susan McCreary and husband David of Ross Township, Pa. and Lucy Begin and husband Robert of Saco; a brother Earle Wilbur of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister Dorothy Gannon of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Steve Hilty, Katie Thompson, Mallory Muetzel, Lindsay Peters, Nate McCreary, J.J.(Joe) Begin and Bobby Begin, great-grandchildren Edward John Thompson and Matteo Zion Muetzel.

October 21, 2010YARMOUTH, Maine - Mildred D. Haskell, 94, of Yarmouth, Maine passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, in Scarborough.
She was born in West Wareham, Mass. on Feb. 16, 1916, the daughter of Mildred Drake Dixon and Otto H. Dixon.
At age 5 she moved with her family to Eliot, Maine. She graduated from Eliot High School as the Valedictorian of her class, andattended the University of Maine in Orono, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated in 1938.
She taught languages for two years at Patten Academy in Patten, Maine, and then married Donald B. Haskell, of Portland, Maine. Following their marriage, they spent several years traveling, as Donald's job took them to a number of cities, where he supervised the installation of machinery in glass manufacturing plants.
Following the birth of their first son, they moved to Yarmouth, where they lived until moving to Buxton. While there, she served as the Buxton Town Clerk, and was a member of the Buxton Flower Club.
In 1952 the family moved to Holliston, where they lived until 1967. While there, Mildred served as the Director of Religious Education at the Holliston Congregational Church, and also taught rug braiding in the adult education program.
In 1967 they moved to Cushing, Maine, where they established and operated the Mantle Light Campground. Mildred also taught elementary school, first in Appleton, grades one and two, and then in Cushing grades three and four.
Mildred and Donald loved to travel, and eventually visited every US state and Canadian province, as well as Mexico.
Following Donald's death in 1977, Mildred moved to Cumberland, and later Yarmouth.
She continued to enjoy traveling, to Hawaii, Great Britain, Ireland, Switzerland, and Scandinavia.
More recently she enjoyed taking many bus trips with her special friend Ellie McKinnon, and had just returned from one at the time of her passing. Some of her other interests included flower arranging (winning some awards!), gardening, rug braiding, jigsaw puzzles, and antiques.
She had been a member of the Walnut Hill Garden Club, Women's Literary Union, North Yarmouth Senior Citizens, The Congregational Church in Cumberland, The Maine Antique Power Association, and Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by sons Peter Haskell of South Freeport and Thomas Haskell of South Portland, grandchildren Brittany, Dane, and Richard Haskell, and great-grandchildren Mitchell and Mollie Haskell.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald, and her sister Dorothy Chaisson.

May 30, 2000Ethel M. Haskell, 92, died at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth on May 24, 2000. She was born in Portland, a daughter of John D. and Celeta Innis Leavitt of Raymond. She graduated from Deering High School and the former Gray's Business College.
Mrs. Haskell was employed by the former Canal National Bank of Portland, where she met Stanley B. Haskell. They were married on Feb. 5, 1941.
She was active as a lay leader in the Cumberland Center Congregational Church and the Maine Conference of the Congregational Church, working primarily with youth. She was the first woman dean at Pilgrim Lodge, the Conference summer church camp in West Gardiner.
The family moved to Bangor in 1959 when her husband began his studies at Bangor Theological Seminary, and Mrs. Haskell was hired as the religious education director at Hammond Street Congregational Church. Mrs. Haskell's dedication to and work with youth remained a key vocation, said her family. She also spent several years as a volunteer during the early days of the H.O.M.E. Cooperative in Orland. She served on the Governor's Committee for Youth Advocacy under Gov. James B. Longley in the mid 1970s.
Mrs. Haskell and her husband were among the founders of the Homestead Project, a residential program for troubled youth on the shores of Graham Lake at Ellsworth Falls.
She lived the last 32 years of her life on her beloved Mount Desert Island. She remained active in the Northeast Harbor Union Congregational Church, UCC, until the ravages of arthritis kept her at home.
Surviving are two sisters, Corinne Mann of Kittery Point and Jean Jordan of Westbrook; a daughter, Elizabeth Haskell of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, Benjamin Haskell of Brewer and John Haskell of Hampden; seven granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

March 15, 1955Services for Edwin R. Sage, 84, of 19 Ware st., Cambridge, prominent business man and civic leader, who died Saturday at Mt. Auburn Hospital following a two weeks illness will be held at 3 p.m. tomorow at the First Church in Cambridge, Congregational.
A native of Sheffield, he had resided in Cambridge 60 years. He was credited with introducing parking meters in Cambridge and was organizer of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and was its past director and vice president.
Mr. Sage was a teasurer and founder of the Edwin R. Sage Company, Cambridge, and also was president of the Reliance Cooperative Bank; a trustee of the Cambridgeport Savings Bank and an incorporator of the Cambridge Savings Bank. He also was president of the Boston Wholesle Grocery Company and for the past 25 years was chairman of a committee of the First Church of Cambridge, Congragational.
He was a charter member, past president and director of the Harvard Sq. Businessmen's Association, member of the Cambridge Club, director of the Rotary Club and member of the Amicable Lodge, A,F.&A.M. and past director of the New England Smaller Businessmen's Association.
He leaves a wife, the former Alice Lovejoy, two sons, Edwin D. of Belmont, and C. Rodney of Cambridge, a daughter, Mrs. John D. Aikenhead of Belmont, and a sister, Mrs. Harry D. Pollard of New Braintree.

Althea (Wear) Sage of Winchester (formerly of Belmont) died on Friday, September 15, 2006 at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital after a brief illness.
She reached the age of 100 this past June 30th. She was born in Medford in 1906 to Charles and Sophia (Crosman) Wear.
She was educated in Medford and later graduated from Framingham State College. She taught home economics in the Newton Public schools.
She and her late husband, Edwin D. Sage, lived in Belmont for over 50 years. She spent the last seven in Winchester, with summer visits to her son on Martha's Vineyard.
Althea was a member of the Payson Park Church in Belmont. She was a member of Women of Rotary in Belmont and the Women's City Club of Boston.
She is survived by her son, Charles Sage of Florida and Martha's Vineyard and her daughter, Patricia West of New Britain, CT; and also by five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

July 22, 1982Chathan - Charles Rodney Sage of Wentworth lane, North Chatham, a former director of a Cambridge retail food company died Tuesday in the Orleans Convalescent and Nursing Home, Orleans, after a long illness. He was 78.
Bornin Hollis, N.H., he grew up in Cambridge, where he lived until 1960, when he moved to to North Chatham.
Mr. Sage was graduated from the Peabody School, Cambridge, and Boston University.
He was a son of the founder of the Edwin R. Sage Co., Cambridge, and was the director and treasurer of that company for many years.
A treasurer of the Cape Cod Conservatory of Music, Mr. Sage was a member of the First Congregational Church, Chatham, the Chatham Drama Guild and the Chatham Historical Society. He also has been a deacon of the First Congregational Church, Cambridge, where he was treasurer fo 20 years.
He also was a member of the Cambridge Rotary Club, the Cambridge Club and the Cambridge Historical Society.
He leaves his wife, Marjorie (Llewellyn); a daughter Joan Amory of Wellesley Hills; a son, Edwin R. Sage 2d of Concord; a sister, Priscilla Alkenhead of Belmont; a brother, Edwin Day Sage of Belmont; and eight grandchildren.

July 4, 1991Priscilla (Sage) Aikenhead of Belmont, a former president of the Friends of McLean Hospital who devoted herself to the cause of mental health for half a century, died Monday in the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She was 81.
A native of Cambridge, Mrs. Aikenhead graduated from the Cambridge High and Latin School in 1927 and Radcliffe College in 1931. She received a master's degree in social work from Simmons College in 1932 and was employed as a psychiatric social worker in Rhode Island for several years.
Mrs. Aikenhead was a member of the corporation of the Walter C. Fernald School in Waltham and a director of the Beaverbrook Mental Health Center and area board. At the time of her death she was on several boards of the Friends of Gaebler Children's Center in Waltham and on various visting committees at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
She was a former president of the Belmont Historical Society.
Her husband, John D., a wool broker died in 1975. She leaves two daughters, Jean Smith of Lyme, N.H., and Ellen Stevens of Belmont; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Terwilleger died of emphysema Wednesday in a Vancouver nursing home. She was 72.

She was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Nampa, Idaho. Mrs. Terwilleger was a homemaker and had lived in Vancouver for 38 years.
Survivors include her sons, Tom of Portland and Terry of Vancouver; daughters, Nedra of Vancouver and Zelda Ashcraft of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, James Day of Caldwell, Idaho; sisters, Norma Pavlina of Camas, Wash., and Joan Schoonover of Caldwell, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Birchard died of complications of a stroke Saturday in a Hillsboro hospital. She was 85.
She was born July 25, 1907, in Newton, Iowa. She married Thomas Birchard on March 24, 1934. Her maiden name was Koppin. They moved to the Portland area in 1942. Mrs. Birchard was a homemaker and worked for a short time in the West Union School cafeteria. She performed volunteer work for the Hillsboro Senior Center and the Red Cross.
Her husband died in 1971.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne of Milwaukie and Dale of Hillsboro; daughters, Linda Liebenow and Phyllis, both of Aloha, and Donna Kistler of Florence; sisters, Esther Lincoln of Grinnell, Iowa, and Goldie Schnell of Newton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

W. B. "Pete" Birchard, 91, of 3202 South 12th Street, Marshalltown, died Saturday morning, May 21st, at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston. His death came peacefully at 10:55 A.M. with his family at his side.
Born Winfield Bancroft Birchard on March 19th, 1914, in Kellogg, Iowa, he was the son of Samuel and Emily (Day) Birchard.
He received his education in the country schools of Kellogg and farmed with his parents. On November 28th, 1940, he was united in marriage to Alberta Buffington in Marshalltown.
They farmed for ten years until moving to Marshalltown in December of 1950. Pete was employed with Fisher Controls for 27 years, retiring on March 31st, 1977. Mr. Birchard will be fondly remembered for his love of family, bowling and square dancing, gardening, flowers (especially iris), fishing, the outdoors and traveling to 49 States of the Union, the Caribbean and Canada. He will be greatly missed by friends and family alike.
Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 64 years, Alberta, his three dear daughters; Judy Henson of Marshalltown, Marland Birchard of Spanaway, WA, and Barbara (Larry) McGrew of Marshalltown, three precious grandchildren; Jennifer McGrew of Marshalltown, Kevin McGrew of Toledo and Kary (Eric) Moore of Lincoln, Iowa, as well as his great-grandsons Carter and Jacob Moore of Lincoln. Also surviving are his sisters Helen Harvey of San Jose, CA and Doris Niemants of Marshalltown as well as several nieces, nephews, Alberta's family and a host of friends.
In death he has rejoined his parents, brothers Clinton, Myron and Tom and sisters Katherine Sharp and Alberta Crawford.

Alberta Jane Birchard, 94, of Marshalltown passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Central Iowa Healthcare in Marshalltown.
Alberta Buffington Birchard was born on October 30, 1920 in Albion, Iowa to Vernie and Leona Waldo Buffington. Alberta graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1940. On November 28, 1940, Alberta was united in marriage to Winfield "Pete" Birchard at the Justice of the Peace in Marshalltown.
They made their home in Marietta and Montour before calling Marshalltown home. Alberta was an excellent farm wife as well as working at Singer Sewing Center and in the Executive Dining Room at Fishers. She was even known as the "Ice Cream Lady" at Miller School. Alberta enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning food, her flower gardens and camping. Pete and Alberta loved to travel and had been to every state except Rhode Island. Some of the more memorable trips included Washington, California and Branson, Missouri. They also went on a Caribbean cruise on their 50th anniversary and most recently made a trip with the family to Hawaii in 2011.
Alberta is survived by her daughters: Judy Henson of Marshalltown, Marland Birchard of Puyallup, Washington and Barbara (Larry) McGrew of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Jennifer McGrew of Marshalltown, Kevin McGrew of Marshalltown, Kary Moore of Dysart and a great grandson Carter Moore of Dysart. Alberta is also survived by her sister LaVonne Baker of Marshalltown, sister in laws Lucille Buffington of Laurel and Annalee Buffington of Marshalltown and several nieces and nephews.
Alberta is preceded in death by her husband Pete; parents Vernie and Leona and siblings Buff, Bud, Donnie, Dick and Helen Buffington.

June 3, 1997Deloss Crawford, the son of Garfield and Frankie Crawford, was born on August 15, 1908 in Lucas County, Iowa, near the community of Norwood.
On April 20, 1947, he was united in marriage to Alberta Birchard from Kellogg. To this union a son, Norman, was born.
Deloss had suffered a series of strokes beginning in 1979 until they eventually caused his death. In 1988 he lost the ability to talk, in 1992 he lost the ability to walk, and early this year he lost the ability to swallow.
With the loss of his beloved wife in 1989 and his inability to talk, walk or to eat, most of life's joys had been taken away from him before he died on May 23, 1997, of pneumonia, as a result of his last stroke.
As a young man, Deloss accepted the Lord as his Saviour at the Lucas Assembly of God Church. He spent his life farming and was an honest and kind man, always willing to help anyone in time of need. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta, and brothers Brice and Gerald.
He is survived by his son, Norman, and his wife Sheri of Olympia, Wash.; and two brothers, John of Indianola and Cecil of Des Moines, and a sister, Doris Day of Marshalltown.

November 20, 2008Lewistown - Helen (Birchard) Harvey, 88, of San Jose, a long time Lewistown resident who was active in service work throughout her life and helped buils the Assembly of God Church in Lewistown, died of comlications from cancer Tuesday at a hospital in Antioch, Calif.
Survivord include children David Harvey of San Jose, Melodee Harvey of Brentwood, Calif. Kim Harvey of Red Valley, Calid., and Joy Bursch of Brentwood, Calif.; a sister, Doris Neiments of Marshalltown, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Harvey in October 1973.

Doris Niemantsverdriet, 96, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Wabasha, MN.
Doris was born February 2, 1923, to Samuel and Emily (Day) Birchard in Kellogg, IA. She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1940. Doris was united in marriage to Russell Niemantsverdriet in Santa Rosa, CA, on December 5, 1943. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years, a deaconess, a Circle leader, taught Sunday School, and supported the church in many other ways. Doris was a Red Cross volunteer for years and was named Volunteer of the Year for Marshall County.
Doris is survived by son James (Jan Kasper) Niemantsverdriet, daughter Pam (Gary Kottmann) Niemantsverdriet; grandchildren Andrew (Jessie) Niemantsverdriet, Sara (Brad) McDale, Cristen Kottmann, Beth Kasper, and Brett Kasper; great grandchildren Owen and Bo Niemantsverdriet; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Russell, and her grandson, Matthew Kottmann.

Mrs. Peeples entered into rest Saturday Jam 10, 1987. at Willis-Knighton Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Lestershire, New York and had been a resident of Shreveport for 65 years. Mrs. Peeples was a charter member of Cheermakers Class at Mangum United Methodist Churcg, a life member of Women's Temperance Union and an active member of United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband, Mervin Peeples of Shreveport; two daughters and a son-in-law, Maurine Hardin of Shreveport and Betty and Charlie Beardsley of Wisconsin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Cherri Peeples and Duane and Connie Peeples, of Shreveport; one sister, Dorothy Smith of Bossier City, La.; two brothers, Jack Pringle and Vernon Pringle of Shreveport; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

July 16, 1970William H. "Bill" Pringle, 66, of 2316 Meriwether Road, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday following a sudden illness.
A native of New Britain, Conn., he had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 50 years. He retired from the U.S. postal service after 40 years and was a member of the Community Bible Church.
Mr. Pringle was a board member of the Mexican Indian Training Center and had made six trips to Mexico. He served with the Louisiana National Guard for 28 years, with the 156th Infantry, the 199th Infantry and the 204th Anti-Aircraft regiment.
Funeral services will be held at the Osborn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James L. Beasley, a retired chaplain, and the Rev. Robert Ebert of Community Bible Church, officiating. Time of the services will be announced by Osborn's later. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park.
Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Todd A. Nelson of Shreveport, Mrs. Royce C. McNeal of Alexandria and Mrs. James J. Reel of East Moline, Ill.; one son, William M. Pringle of Shreveport; two brothers, Col. (retired) Herman E. Pringle and Vernon E. Pringle, both of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. E. M. Peeples and Mrs. Ivey L. Mr. Pringle was born July 1, 1912 in Des Moines, IA and died Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Willis-Knighton Bossier.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 52 years, he later joined Broadmoor Baptist Church. Mr. Pringle was a retired supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the U.S. Post Office Credit Union for 50 years and was a past director and chairman of the Supervisory Committee. Mr. Pringle was an active Boy Scout Leader and earned the 50-year certificate. He also attained the highest honor, the "Silver Beaver Award", given by the Council. Mr. Pringle was an active member of the Shreveport Rose Society serving as a past Director. He received his 50-year membership certificates, serving as a 32nd Degree Master Mason, Shreveport Scottish Rite and El Karubah Shriner. Mr. Pringle served as past chairman of the National Society of Sons of American Revolution and served on its state Eagle Scout scholarship committee. Mr. Pringle also was an active member in the Magna Charta Barons and National Society of Emperor Charlemagne.
Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Inez Self Pringle of Shreveport, LA; sons, Vernon E. Pringle, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Plano, TX and R. Mrs. Pringle was born on July 21, 1913 in Anacoco, Louisiana, and died Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Live Oak Retirement Community. She is the widow of Vernon E. Pringle, to whom she was married for 68 years.
Mrs. Pringle, a retired Registered Nurse from the Veterans Administration Hospital, attended Centenary College of Louisiana and Northwestern University, was a member for fifty-two years of the Trinity United Methodist Church and served as church membership secretary and a member of the Administrative Council before joining Broadmoor Baptist Church. Mrs. Pringle was an active member of the Ark-La-Tex Genealogical Association, an ardent genealogist, who did extensive research on the Self, Ferguson, and Pringle Families, and so generously shared research information with so many interested families. Mrs. Pringle was an active member of the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, Magna Charta Dames, and charter member of the National Society of Emperor Charlemagne, and a member of the Shreveport Rose Society and American Rose Society.
Mrs. Pringle will be sadly missed by many friends and the following members of her loving family, her two sons, Vernon E. Pringle, Jr. and wife, Joyce Pringle, of Plano, Texas, and R. Mr. Day was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Nampa, Idaho. During World War II, he served as a bomber pilot in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific. He retired from the Air Force in 1963, and received a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University in about 1969. He moved to Lake Oswego in 2001 and to Beaverton in 2004. In 1946, he married Myrtle A. Grant; they divorced. He married Clarietta Jones in 1952; she died in 1996.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Sorensen and Emely A. Crickmer; brothers, Richard P. and Herbert; and sister, Christine Young.

Herbert was born in Nampa, Idaho and stayed there through high school where he met his sweetheart,Marilyn Whelchel. Before they married in Caldwell, Idaho, he attended the University of Idaho for a year. They moved back to Nampa where they had their two oldest boys, Steven and
Richard. The family moved to Western Washington and welcomed Suzanne and Michael to the family.Herbert was a hard-working man who moved his way throughout Albertson's grocers to Store Manager. He spent nearly 30 years in Mountlake Terrace and was involved in Little League Baseball and served on the city council for three years. Along with his passion for youth sports, he was a fan of the University of Washington and the Seattle Seahawks. His "Hawk Dawg" truck was a fixture for years outside of Husky Stadium and the Kingdome.
Herb is survived by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Marilyn; his sons, Steven, Richard, Michael; daughter, Suzanne; six grandsons; 16 great grandchildren; and two great greatgrandkids.

July 23, 2017Marilyn Jean Day passed away to reside in heaven with her best friend and love June 27, 2017. Born on June 21, 1933, in Caldwell, ID, to Carlyle and Margaret Whelchel, she met and married her beloved, Herbert Day, on March 9, 1952.
Growing up in Caldwell, she was a model for a local department store and worked at a local bank. Herbert and Marilyn had their sons, Steven Carlyle and Richard Douglas, in Nampa, Idaho before moving to Seattle, where they delivered Suzanne and Michael Robert.
Marilyn was a fixture as an employee at the University of Washington Bookstore and J.C. Penney. Greeting everyone she saw with a smile, Marilyn lit up every room she entered. As a giving mother, grand-mother, great grandmother and great, great grand-mother, her heart was always for her family. She was the rock that held together a family which has never stopped growing. Her strength, grace and love will continue be seen by the many in her family who loved her.
She is survived by sons, Steven (Marge), Rick (Glynis), Michael (Kristen) and daughter, Suzanne (Ray); grandsons, Aaron (Cathy), Jason (Kerri), Bradey (Brynn), Shayne (Christal), Christopher (Kaitlynn) and Chandler; great grandsons, Zachary (Katie), Joshua, Joesiah, Tobhias, Nehamia, and Boaz; great granddaughters, Genesis (Cameron), Mikayla (TJ), Paige, Natalie, Tiannah, Bethany, Annessa, Elliana, Amelia, Georgia, Annalia, Caroline, Addison and Everleigh; great, great grandson, Reid; great, great granddaughter, Clover.

August 4, 1997Franklin A. Worcester, 89, of 25 Woodland Drive, Amherst, died at Catholic Medical Center, in Manchester, Sunday morning, August 3, 1997.
Mr. Worcester managed the Worcester Brothers Dairy Farm in Hollis until the early 1950s. He then worked in sub-surface exploration for M.C. Britt of Groton, Mass. His life was centered around farming, geology and metallurgy.
During World War II, he served as an officer in the Massachusetts Militia.
While in Hollis, Mr. Worcester was active in community affairs. He was instrumental in the creation of the present Hollis Zoning System and served as a member of its Board of Adjustment until his retirement to Florida.
He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Daniel Webster Council and served as a lieutenant on the Hollis Fire Department.
While residing in Hollis, he was an active member of the Congregational Church of Hollis, U.C.C.
Mr. Worcester and his wife, Elsie C. (Rundquist) Worcester, retired to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1976 and returned to New Hampshire in 1996 to reside with their son John and his wife in Amherst.
He was educated in Hollis Elementary School, graduated from Lawrence Academy in Groton, Mass., and then attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
Mr. Worcester was born in Hollis on July 27, 1908, son of the late Charles F. and Florence May (Tenney) Worcester. He was raised in Hollis.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles F. and Janet M. Worcester of Milford, Thomas F. and Jeannette T. Worcester of Merrimack, and John D. and Judy A. Worcester of Amherst six grandchildren, Mark Worcester and his wife Cynthia of Wilton, Catherine Chevalier and her husband Gerard of Milford, Christopher Worcester and his wife Denise of Raymond, Kristen Clancy and her husband Timothy of Nashua, and Eric and Kelsey Worcester of Amherst 10 great-grandchildren three nieces and numerous cousins.

May 22, 2009Elsie C. Worcester, 95, of Milford died at The Elms in Milford on Wednesday, May 6, 2009.
She was born in Boston on May 17, 1913, a daughter of the late Anders and Frida (Hoglund) Rundquist. She was the widow of Franklin Worcester, who died Aug. 3, 1997.
She had resided in the Milford-Amherst area for the past 12 years, in St. Augustine, Fla., for 20 years, and in Hollis prior to moving to Florida. While in Hollis she lived at the Worcester Brothers Dairy Farm on Worcester Road, following her marriage.
During World War II, she was a volunteer aerial spotter in Hollis.
She was a past president of the Hollis Garden Club, a past president of the Hollis Women's Club, and was a member of the Women's Exchange in St. Augustine.
She loved animals, gardening and tole painting.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Janet Worcester of Milford, Thomas and Jeannette Worcester of Merrimack, and John Worcester of Mason; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and a niece.
