March 12, 1999Forbes C. Phinney, 95, of Lawrenceville died Tuesday.
The funeral will be at 2 this afternoon at Tabernacle Full Gospel Church in Lawrenceville, with burial in Gwinnett Memorial Park.
Mr. Phinney, a native of Kent, Wash., was a salesman and a member of Tabernacle Full Gospel Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Louise A. Jacobs of Lawrenceville; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Virginia Thayer Boothby was born 1919 in Wakefield, Mass. She attended Abbott/ Andover Academy and Sweet Briar College. In the 1940's she moved to California and lived in Marin for 65 years. She had wonderful memories of her work at College of Marin and hiking the Marin countryside. She will be missed by her children John Boothby and Josselyn Robertson, her grandchildren Erica and Rachel Boothby and Sean Robertson, and her great grandchildren Rose Elena and Quentin Robertson.

John Bowden Boothby was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lydia White Boothby and Marsh Bowden Boothby. He graduated from Georgetown University and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He resided in the Sleepy Hollow area of Marin County, California, for many years raising his family and commuting to San Francisco where he worked in the international import business. He later resided in San Francisco as a base for global travel, family activities, visits with friends, and evening martinis. He is survived by a son and daughter, both of California, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his many close friends and family.
Per 1930 census, Irving was adopted.

March 31, 2003GARDNER -- Elizabeth B. Goodrich, 90, of 117 Leamy St., died Saturday, March 29, in Heywood Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 17 years, L. John Goodrich; a sister, Ethel Joslin of Gulf Shores, Ala.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her first husband, Donald M. Kauppi, two sons, Lauren and Donald B. Kauppi, a daughter, Donna Clancy, and a sister, Irene Barton, predeceased her. She was born in Boston, daughter of Clarence E. and Marcellina (Grothe) Butler, and had lived in Gardner for many years. She graduated in 1931 from Gardner High School.
Mrs. Goodrich worked many years ago as a clerk at Woolworth's. She was a longtime member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Gardner Grange. She was a former member of the Gardner Emblem Club.

VIRGINIA BEACH - Ethel B. Joslin, 94, of the 900 block of General Stuart Drive, died Oct. 16, 2009.
She was born in Somerville, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Marcelina Butler. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Joslin. She was a homemaker and was good at all the important things: kindness, charity, love and compassion.
Ethel is survived by her three children, Nancy Gay of Somerville, Fla., Susan Kavanaugh and husband Phil of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Frederick Joslin Jr. and wife Nancy of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Craig Kavanaugh, Kathy Smith, Jodi Gay, Angie Benedict, Debbie Villareal and Diane Vachon; and nine great- grandchildren.

July 17, 1998GULF SHORES, Ala. - Frederick W. Joslin, 82, of Oyster Bay Village, formerly of Athol, Mass., died July 8 in South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Foley.
He leaves his wife, Ethel (Butler) Joslin; a son, Frederick Joslin in Virginia; two daughters, Susan E. Kavanaugh of Ipswich, Mass., and Nancy A. Gay of Westfield, Mass.; a sister, Muriel J. Joslin of East Templeton, Mass.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was born in Athol, son of Bertram and Annie C. (Kryander) Joslin, and was a Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946.
Mr. Joslin was a general agent for State Mutual Life in Springfield, Mass., and western New York.
He served on the Board of Selectmen in East Longmeadow, Mass., and in offices of the East Longmeadow United Methodist Church. He also served as a director for many associations in Massachusetts. He served a term on the board of directors of Gulf Shores Golf Club, where he was a member since 1977 and started the "Amigo's" group of golf players. He was also named a Paul Harris fellow by Hampton Roads, Va., Rotary Club in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna Turner; brother, Joe Turner; and sister, Agnes Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Leonard; children with his first wife, Carol Turner: George, Rocky (Nancy), Elaine (Jim), Bill (Suzie) and Dan (Kate); 12 grandchildren, Brian, Cassandra, Sarah, Zac, Jenna, Colin, Leilani, Justin, Megan, Ashley, Benjamin and Andrew; stepchildren, Carrie, Melinda and Danny; sisters, Jane McDonough and Edna Quatroche; and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was born on Long Island in Greenport, New York, to Joe and Edna Turner. He was the youngest of five children. After high school, George served in the U.S. Air Force. He later went on to graduate from the University of Delaware. After college, he moved to Northern Virginia, where he spent his career selling computer systems to the government. After he retired, he and his wife, Jean enjoyed traveling (cruises in particular), gardening and camping. George was an avid Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed sharing tales of his childhood with his grandchildren.

June 19, 1980MARBLEHEAD - Mrs. Dorothy M. Bartlett, 77, of Marblehead, died Tuesday evening in Lafayette Nursing Home. She was the widow of Edgar I. Bartlett.
Born in Salem, daughter of the late Francis and Bessie (Butler) Stanley, she was a resident of Marblehead for more than 53 years.
Mrs. Bartlett was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Marblehead, and a life member of the Marblehead Chapter OES.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. James H. (Marilyn) Quillen and Mrs. F. William (Cynthia) Edwards, both of Marblehead; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Foster of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mrs. Barbara Davis of Marblehead; four grandchildren, Michael J. and Gregory H. Quillen, Scott W. and Carl R. Edwards, all of Marblehead.

September 3, 2019Marblehead - James H. Quillen, 87, of Marblehead, passed away at home with his family by his side on Thursday, August 29, 2019.
Born in Texas on December 6, 1931, he was the beloved son of Hue and Naomi (Spivey) Quillen. He grew up in Haywood, Calif., where he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jim met his wife Marilyn Bartlett during his military service, and after receiving an honorable discharge in 1954, they set their roots down in her hometown of Marblehead and started a family. For almost 50 years Jim was well known in town as the owner of the family business, Bartlett's Garage, where his sons still continue to serve the community. Along with devoting his time to his family, Jim was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating, and in his later years spent time relaxing on his annual trips to Captiva Island, Florida. For over 50 years he was an active member of the Philanthropic Lodge of Marblehead, the Shriner's, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Jim will always be remembered for his warm smile and twinkling eyes, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children Michael Quillen, and Gregory Quillen and wife Lisa of Marblehead; his grandchildren Leanne Homan and Stephen Quillen; and his great-grandchildren Lucas, Olivia, and Colin Homan. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn (Bartlett) Quillen.

December 15, 2011MARBLEHEAD - Cynthia ( Bartlett) Edwards, age 77, wife of Bill Edwards, with whom she has shared 57 years of marriage, died peacefully at home early Wednesday morning.
A "Header" she was born in the Mary A Alley Hospital, the daughter of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Stanley) Bartlett. A graduate of Marblehead High School, Class of 1952, she was both an All Star member of the field hockey team and a football cheerleader. After receiving her Associates Degree from the Chandler School for Women in May of 1954 where she was the President of her class. She and her husband married, lived in Paris until Mr. Edwards was discharged from the Air Force and began their family.
From kindergarten through adulthood, she and her childhood friend, the late Pat (Crosby) Keiver enjoyed their visits to Camp Whittier on Squam Lake as well as many other adventures. As her family grew, Mrs. Edwards also looked forward to her ski trips to Stowe Vermont with her family. Longtime members of the Boston Yacht Club, she and her husband Bill have spent the last 18 winters living aboard their boat, "Cynthia" in Fort Myers where she has many friends.
An accomplished artisan and instructor, Mrs. Edwards was well known for her hand-made crewel, embroidery, hooked rugs and sailor's valentines. She was an avid reade and most of all she looked forward to being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Scott Edwards and his wife Kathleen and Carl Edwards and his wife Diane all of Marblehead, four grandchildren Billy, Jeffery, Jennie and Kyle Edwards all of Marblehead; brother in law Jim Quillen of Marblehead, and all her great friends and neighbors on Summer St.
She was predeceased by her beloved sister Marilyn Quillen.

February 11, 2014F. William (Bill) Edwards, 80, died peacefully at the Kaplan House in Danvers early Saturday morning. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Cynthia (Bartlett) Edwards, with whom he had shared 57 years of marriage.
Bill was born in Flushing, N.Y., and was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Birkett) Edwards. He spent his early years in Montreal, Canada, before moving to Marblehead. He is a graduate of Marblehead High School, Class of 1952, where he was an All Star member of the hockey and baseball team. After graduation, he was married and joined the United States Air Force, and he was stationed in Paris, France. Mr. Edwards was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1957, and moved back to Marblehead to begin his family. He was member of the Philanthropic Lodge F.&A.M. Marblehead, past Exalted Ruler of the Marblehead Elks and past Commodore of the Boston Yacht Club. He loved his friends, skiing, boating, and a good cigar.
Most of all he looked forward to being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by two children, Scott Edwards and his wife, Kathleen, and Carl Edwards and his wife, Diane, all of Marblehead; four grandchildren, Billy, Jeffery, Jennie, and Kyle Edwards, all of Marblehead; brother-in-law, Jim Quillen of Marblehead; his brothers, Donald and Robert; his sister, Libby Ovitt; and all his great friends and neighbors on Summer Street. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Barbara Pudvah.

July 25, 1970Harold I. Stanley, 63, of 2 Spellman Terr., died early Friday morning at Rutland Hospital after a short illness.
He was born May 10, 1907, in Salem, Mass., the son of Francis L. and Bessie (Butler) Stanley.
He was graduated from Salem High School and, in 1928, from Norwich University.
Mr. Stanley had worked for the Central Vermont Public Service Corp. since 1938. He was chief distribution engineer for the company.
He was a member of Grace Congregational Church of Christ; member and past master of Rutland Lodge 79 F&AM, Davenport Chapter 17, Killington Commandery 6, Cairo Temple AAONMS, Past Masters Association, past district deputy grand master of the fourth Masonic District of Vermont, Vermont Professional Engineers Association, and the Rutland Country Club.
He is survived by his widow, Cora (Austin) Stanley; one daughter, Miss Barbara J. Stanley of Rutland; two sons, Richard A. Stanley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Harold A. Stanley of Rutland; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Foster of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Edgar Bartlett and Mrs. Ernest Davis, both of Marblehead, Mass,; one brother, Clifford Stanley of Danvers, Mass.; one granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.

Born in North Brooksville, Maine, June 3, 1907, she was a graduate of the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
Mrs. Stanley was a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, the Ladies Oriental Shrine, DAR, Rutland County Nurses Association, Rutland Country Club and the Chaffee Art Gallery Association. She had been very active in Girl Scouting.
Her husband, Harold I. Stanley, died in 1970.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara J. Stanley, Bolton; two sons, Richard A. Stanley, Halloman AFB, N.M., and Harold A. Stanley, Rochester University in New York City; two sisters, Doris E. Austin, west Hartford, Conn., and Mrs. A. J. (Miriam) Crawford, Belleair Bluffs, Fla., nieces and nephews.
