November 25, 1994HULSER. Joan (Gaffney) Hulser, 66, of Homosassa, Fla., formerly of Kennedy Road, Manchester, wife of John D. Hulser, died Monday (Nov. 21, 1994) in Florida, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Teaneck, N.J., June 2, 1928, she had been a resident of Manchester for 34 years before moving to Florida in 1993. Prior to retiring, she was an office manager in the family business, Beltone Hearing Aid Service of West Hartford. Joan was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Manchester, and a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was also a member of the Mooney Aircraft Pilots Association of Kerrville, Texas. She and her husband were instrumental in the restoration of a World War II B-24 Liberator bomb er for the Collings Foundation of Stow, Mass.
Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane H. and Henry W. Trembley of Norfolk, Susan H. and Peter G. Borofsky of East Hartford, and Nancy H. and Stephen R. Platek of Staffo rd Springs; a former son-in-law, Gregory M. Ryan of Cross River, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Matthew R. and Colin J.F. Ryan, Peter John and Adam Michael Borofsky, Alison Jolee and Lindsey Hulser Platek; a brother, Robert A. Gaffney of Branford; a sister, Sheila Abata of Guilford; several nieces and nephews.

March 3, 2007Hulser, John Dawley, 81, of Homosassa, died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2007) at Citrus Memorial Health System, Inverness.
Born in Ogdenburg, N.Y., he came to this area 14 years ago from Manchester, Conn. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, serving as a flight engineer in a B-24 Liberator bomber. He received many medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross for attempting to save the life of a pilot. He was a graduate of Babson College. He was as an audiologist in the hearing aide industry for more than 40 years. He owned his own franchise. He was the northeast regional representative for Beltone Hearing Aids. He was a pilot and member of the Citrus Aviation Association. He was a charter member of the Collins Foundation of Stow, Mass., which was involved with the restoration of the only B-24 Liberator still flying. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Sugarmill Woods Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Norma; three daughters, Diane Tremblay, Holmes Beach, Susan Borofsky, East Hartford, Conn., and Nancy Platek, Stafford Springs, Conn.; five stepsons, Ron Seleske, Grosse Point, Mich., Grey Seleske, Fort Lauderdale, Stephen Seleske, Phoenix, and Mark and Jeff Seleske, both of Colorado; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

March 2, 2013ABATO, SHEILA (GAFFNEY) In Guilford, Tuesday, February 26, 2013, Sheila (Gaffney) Abato longtime resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Sheila is the devoted wife of 57 years of Ralph L. Abato. Born in Englewood, NJ, on Dec. 7, 1933, daughter of the late Robert and Mildred Jantzen Gaffney.
Beloved mother of Cheryl Augusta and her husband Robert of Madison, Ralph L. Abato, Jr. and his wife Sandra Brown of New Britain and Elizabeth Hunter and her husband James of Hamden. Adoring grandmother of Michael and Andrew Barth, Ryan and Sara Hunter and Kristin Abato. Also survived by several nieces. Predeceased by a brother, Robert Gaffney and a sister, Joan Hulser.
Sheila enjoyed her time spent with family, decorating her home and antiquing. Vacations were also a special time she shared with her husband.

Born in Westwood, New Jersey, on July 18, 1935, Bob was the son of the late Mildred J. and Robert A. Gaffney. He was brother to Sheila Abato of Guilford and the late Joan Hulser of Manchester. Bob's family settled in East Haven, where he met and, in 1956, married his high school sweetheart, Marie. Bob served in the U.S. Navy and was a successful local businessman, owning and managing the Double Beach Club and the Garage Cafe in Branford. He was a member of the Branford Lions Club and the Branford Elks Club. After retiring, Bob and Marie escaped the cold weather and spent their winters in Delray Beach, Florida. Bob lived his life to the fullest and will be remembered for his good sense of humor and kind and generous spirit.

July 19, 2007Lauris May Paolercio, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2007. She was born on October 24, 1921, to John and Lillian Benson, and was a lifelong resident of Fresno, California.
After graduating from Fresno State College, she married her high school sweetheart, August J. Paolercio, in 1947.
Lauris and August together raised three children, Janice, Nancy, and Alan. She will be greatly missed by her husband, three children, six grandchildren, and many cherished friends.

May 12, 2015MStg. August "Augie" "Gus" Joseph Paolercio, age 94, passed away peacefully amongst family and friends in Fresno, CA, on Friday, May 8, 2015.
A decorated Marine Corps Veteran from World War II, he was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, multiple Air Medals and Gold Stars, a Presidential Citation by Harry Truman, and a Purple Heart.
Augie was born on August 10, 1921, in Fresno, CA, to immigrant parents, Michele Paolercio and Carmela Cappello. He was a graduate of Central High School in 1939.
During World War II, he flew in 144 missions as a radar radio operator, gunner, and pilot with the First Marines First Division 144th, 311th, and the 312th fighter squadrons from August 21, 1942, to July 20, 1948. In 1947, shortly before being honorably discharged,
August married the love of his life, Lauris May Benson. In 1948, they welcomed their first daughter Janice. After welcoming Janice, Augie began working for Chancellor & Lyons as a traveling salesman, while continuing to farm 40 acres of his family's vineyard. Two years later, Augie set fire to his entrepreneurial spirit and began Shaw City Auto Parts. In 1953, the couple welcomed their second daughter Nancy, and in 1961, they welcomed their only son Alan.
In 1971, Augie moved the business across the street where he remained for the next nine years. In 1980, a new location was built at Shaw and Golden State Avenue in Fresno, CA, where it remains in operation by his son Alan. Augie was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a helpful and loving father and husband. His children remember him as a supportive father who encouraged them to pursue their goals, by valuing family, hard work, and determination. Post war, his love for flying continued. He and his son Alan flew many of their own "missions" together, until his late 80's. He was also an avid snow skier, church league softball player, motor home adventurer, Bridge member, and car enthusiast, all of which he jokingly claimed was "going to work." Augie held a passion for farming and in his post retirement days, was often found sleeping at his on-your-honor produce stand. He was a faithful member of the Church of Shaver Lake and God's Family Church in Fresno, CA. He was also a repeated sponsor for the Wounded Warriors foundation. Augie was a generous, witty, dedicated, loving, flirtatious, comically deaf, and a "poor, deserving old man."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michele and Carmela; his beloved wife Lauris; and his five siblings, Louise, Minnie, Pete, Carmen, and Michael.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Janice Paolercio of West Plains, MO, Nancy and Robert Drake of Hemet, CA, and Alan and Cindy Paolercio of Fresno, CA; and his six grandchildren, Everett, Lauren, Jennifer, Devin, Amy, and Anthony; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Orella M. Ide Akers was born on May 21, 1919 and passed away on December 2, 2011. Two son's, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren survive her.
The Ide family helped pioneer the Auberry area in 1924 and began farming and cattle ranching in the area of Frazier Road and Medford Road in eastern Fresno County. Her family consisted of James, Mable (Parents), Annie, Nora, and Deloy (siblings). Orella attended Auberry (Little Sandy) Elementary School and Sierra High School.
She married Richard (Dick) Akers in 1937, a friend of her brother Deloy. Dick was drafted in 1939 and Orella then joined the "Rosie the Riveter" program with her sister Nora (Ide) Meeks and her childhood friend Forestine Beckham and they were stationed at McClellan Air Base located at Sacramento, California.
She gave birth to four children - Doris, Patty, Jim and David.
Dick and Orella lived in numerous locations throughout California in the effort to find work until the mid 1950s when Richard obtained employment with Fresno County Roads Division and Orella became employed at Wish-I-ah Sanitarium until the mid 1970s. At this point Dick and Orella retired and began to travel. She was everyone's mom; she always stepped up when it came to helping raise the young adults and children of this community. Mom you will be greatly missed but never forgotten. You were truly the best mom anyone could ever ask for!

October 30, 2007PRICE-Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Joseph Aaron Chidester, age 88, passed away Oct. 22, 2007 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Aug. 27, 1919 in Bluebell, Utah to Joseph H. and Sarah Mabel Ide Chidester.
Aaron married Emma Jean Scovill, Feb. 13, 1954 in Orangeville, Utah, and their marriage was later solemnized in Manti LDS Temple.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Aaron was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America Kaiser Steel Local # 9958. He shared a genuine concern for his family and especially caring for the animals he raised.
Survived by his wife, Emma Chidester, Price; four sons and four daughters, James (Kim) Chidester, Valley Head, Ala., Vanessa (Mohamid) Bolourforosh, Frisco, Texas, Darryl K. Chidester, Price, Jeffery (Stacie) Chidester, Layton, Bonnie (Don) Sadler, Price, Michel (Vanessa) Chidester, Pocatello, Idaho, Rosanne (Cameron) Boren, Vernal, Diana M. Emma Jean was the last of ten children born to Alma Asahel and Artemissia Burnett Scovill on September 30, 1931 in Orangeville, Utah.
She married Joseph Aaron Chidester, February 13, 1954 in Orangeville, Utah; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2007.
Emma Jean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed embroidering and handiwork. She was a loving and caring individual who loved to visit and care for others. Emma Jean was a mother to many and her sweet spirit and generosity will be cherished forever.
