BOSCAWEN � Melvin H. Haskell, 72, of 43 Queen St., died Dec. 28, 1990, at the Concord Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Haskell was born in Alexandria and had lived in Bristol and East Concord before moving to Boscawen 30 years ago. He worked as a salesman for Sears Roebuck Co. for 12 years and had previously worked for Allied Leather Co. of Penacook for many years. He was a member of the Horace Chase Masonic Lodge 72 F&AM.

The family includes his wife, Jane (Brownell) Haskell of Boscawen; four sons, Bruce Wyatt and Scott Wyatt, both of both of Loudon, and David Wyatt and Robert Wyatt, both of Concord; a daughter, Donna Preve, of Hopinton; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Kenneth Haskell, of Bristol, Royce Haskell of Littleton, Glen Haskell of Abington, Mass. and Milton Haskell of Merrimacm; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane A. Haskell, 95, died peacefully on Saturday April 13, 2024, at Merrimack County Nursing Home.

She was born in Dover, NH, the daughter of Amy (Towle) and Harold Brownell. She was a graduate of Dover High School. While in high school she excelled in academics and sports; enjoying basketball, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball. After starting a family, she moved to Boscawen, where she lived for 60 years.

She worked for the Merrimack Valley School District for 33 years, mainly in the middle school where she enjoyed chaperoning many Washington D.C. trips.

Jane was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts and a Girl Scout leader for many years in Boscawen. She was a leader for the senior canoe team for the Swiss Water Girl Scout Council, where they won many accolades, and a member of the NH Merrimack Valley Extension. She was an active member of the Penacook Historical Society and the former Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the youth group. She also loved attending local and annual events in the Concord area with friends and family.

Her love of sports as a young woman continued throughout her entire life. She enjoyed hiking, kayaking, biking, and the outdoors. She hiked most of the mountains in NH. Well into her seventies and eighties, she did yoga, Strong Living, and traveling through Always an Adventure group.

Jane was also known for her love of traveling. For over thirty years she traveled all over the world, visiting many different countries. Some of her favorite countries she explored were Switzerland, Italy, and Costa Rica. She also traveled extensively across the United States, visiting Alaska and Hawaii many times.

She was predeceased by her husband Melvin Haskell, her sisters Barbara Sleeper and Beverly Allaire, both of Dover, NH, and her close nephew Robert Wyatt of Concord.

She leaves her four children, son Bruce Wyatt and his wife Lynn of Loudon, daughter Donna Preve and her husband Paul of Hopkinton, son David Wyatt and his wife Martha of Concord, and her youngest son Scott Wyatt and his partner Kathy of Loudon. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great children.

Sturbridge - Joyce L. (Haskell) Holton, 97, formally of Plymouth, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield.

She leaves two daughters, Deborah J. Richt of Sturbridge, and Betsey L. Wheeler of Worcester; one son, Barry P. Holton and his wife Kimberly of Port Charlotte, Florida; a daughter-in-law Karen Holton of Orlando; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Alton D. Holton in 1994, her son Donald in 2015, and her son-in-law Peter Richt, as well as seven brothers and two sisters.

Joyce was born in Alexandria, NH, daughter of the late Paul R. and Pearl (Bailey) Haskell. She lived in Quincy for 27 years, prior to moving to Plymouth where she lived for over 40 years.

Althea "Sally" Haskell, 91, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on April 13, 2013, at the Overlook of Northampton. She was born in Danbury, N.H., on April 20, 1921, to Rand C. Ford and Agnes L. Ford. Sally had four brothers: Stanley Ford, Charles Ford, John Ford and Arthur Ford. Growing up, Sally and her brothers were raised on a dairy farm, and attended a one-room school house. Her stepmother, Grace Ford, was their school teacher. Sally later graduated from Concord High School (N.H.), and was the valedictorian of her class.

Sally was a graduate of Plymouth State College, in Plymouth N.H., and earned her bachelor's degree in teaching. She was a third grade teacher for many years, and was loved by her students and fellow teachers. She also enjoyed working as a library assistant at the Littleton Public Library for many years.

Sally married Royce Haskell in 1945, and moved to Littleton, N.H., where they raised their family, and spent many happy years. Sally and Royce had four children: Anne Barr of Tempe, Ariz., Paul Haskell of Helena, Mont., Carol Rose of Oakland, Maine, and Jeanne Moriarty of Haydenville, Mass. Sally is also survived by her grandchildren: Hayley Clifford of Newmarket, N.H., Colin Clifford of Portland, Maine, Kathleen Moriarty of Boston, Mass., Beth Moriarty of Medford, Mass., and Dylan Barr of Tempe, Ariz., as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sally was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and an accomplished knitter, knitting many beautiful sweaters for her children and grandchildren. She always kept well informed about current events and was a member of the League of Women Voters.
Sally loved spending time with her family and friends, always thinking of others before herself. She and her husband were members of the Littleton Congregational Church for many years.

She is predeceased by her brothers Stanley Ford, John Ford, Charles Ford, and her husband Royce Haskell.

Glenn N. "Honey" Haskell, 82, of Abington, died Dec. 17, 2008.

Mr. Haskell was born and raised in Bristol, N.H., and moved to Massachusetts in 1948.

He was a World War II veteran of the Armed Guard Division of the Navy. He was an avid golfer and a former member of Pembroke Country Club and Rockland Golf Course.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Joan (Hilliard) Haskell; his children, Glenn W. Haskell of New Hampshire and Gary N. Haskell of Abington; his sister, Joyce Holton of Plymouth; His grandchildren, Keith, Eric, Sara, Leah and Toni; and his great-grandchild, Kayden.

He was the brother of the late Howard "Puddin," Melvin "Doodle," Kenneth "Dee," Royce "Gramp," and Milton "Bud."

YUMA, Ariz. -- Milton J. "Bud" Haskell, 75, formerly of Merrimack, N.H., died March 19, 2006, at La Mesa Care Center, Yuma.

Mr. Haskell was born July 23, 1930, in Bristol, N.H., to Paul and Pearl (Bailey) Haskell.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. Mr. Haskell was an engineer for a defense contractor for many years in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather.

Family includes his wife of 53 years, Doreen (Adams) Haskell; a daughter, Cinda Haskell of Concord, N.H.; a son, M. Russell Haskell of Lyndeborough, N.H.; a granddaughter and three step-grandchildren, a brother, Glenn Haskell of Abington, Mass.; a sister, Joyce Holton of Plymouth, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

She was born at Sangerville December 13, 1903, daughter of Almer and Harriet (Edgerly) McKechnie.

She was a mamber of the Derby Mothers Service Club.

She is survived by her husband Vaughn of Milo, a son, James of Milo; a daughter, Mrs. Joanne DeWitt of Dover-Foxcroft; five grandchildren; and a cousin.

CANAAN - Marjorie Ferne (McKusick) Hallihan, 96, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at her home at Geer Village. She was the widow of William Hallihan.

Marjorie was born July 31, 1914, in Parkman, Maine, daughter of the late Clair McKusick and N. Faye Loring McKusick. She was educated in the one-room school house in Parkman and graduated from The Gilbert School in Winsted in 1932. She attended Bay Path Institute in Springfield, Mass.

Marjorie worked at the Connecticut Power Co. in Canaan and as clerk of the probate court in Canaan. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and was an avid fan of UConn Women's Basketball. She was a devoted mother.

Marjorie is survived by a son, John Hallihan of Canaan, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Wayne McKusick.

He is predeceased by his wife Betty, son Leon, sister Margaret and friend Margaret Fitter.

He is survived by his sisters Marge Hallihan and MaryLou Clark (Robert) and brother Leon Roy (Barbara), daughter Klaran (Andy), son Karl (Ali) and son Gordon (Hatsy). Also by his grandchildren, Page, Karl (Sarah), Shea, Aria (Jeff), Morgan, Erin, and Kaya; great-grandson Teagan, and anticipating great-granddaughter Lillian.

VERNA RUTH GINGLES 90. Passed away August 6, 2003 at Kaiser Medical Center in Hayward, California, following injuries related to an automobile accident.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Harry Gingles, her son, Jack Gingles, six grandchildren, many great grand children, nieces, nephews, and her special community of friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Gingles is predeceased by her eldest son, Robert, her sister, two brothers, and a grand daughter.

Mrs. Gingles will be remembered for the loving way with which she cared for her husband, her devotion to her community, her sense of humor, her ready smile, and the twinkle in her eyes.
