May 14, 2010BREWER - Eugene W. "Bud" Shand, 85, husband of Virginia (Wood) Shand, died May 12, 2010, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in 1924, in Lynn, Mass., son of Irving D. and Gladys M. (Haskell) Shand.
Bud, as he was known, grew up in Massachusetts and served during World War II with the U.S. Navy. He moved to Maine in 1951 and worked for Brewer Fire Department for several years. He owned and operated his own store and later worked for Irving Oil.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of Brewer are two children, Robert J. Shand and his wife, Carolyn, of Victoria, Mexico, and Donald E. Shand and his wife, Rhonda, of Islesboro; two grandchildren, Eric Shand and his wife, Amanda, and their daughter, Ava, of Biddeford, and Steven Shand and his wife, Trisha, of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, James Shand; three sisters, Nancy Daly, Phyllis McAskil and Alva Cotter; several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by devoted family and friends, Richard and Teresa Dore of Brewer, and Gary Brown, also of Brewer.

March 30, 2012Phyllis D. McAskill, 85, of Seabrook, formerly of Lynn, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.
She was born in Lynn, MA January 22, 1927, a daughter of the late Irving D. and Gladys (Haskell) Shand.
Phyllis was a graduate of Lynn English High School with the class of 1945. She worked as a waitress at the Hilton Hotel at Logan Airport and for various catering companies in Massachusetts.
Mrs. McAskill was a 57-year resident of Lynn before moving to Seabrook in 1984. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gautreau VFW Post 791 in Lynn and had been active with the Rebecca's while living in Lynn. She enjoyed cards, bingo, bowling and dancing.
She was the wife of the late Peter J. McAskill, who predeceased her in 2009.
Family members include her twin sons, Peter J. McAskill, Jr. and his fiancée Jill of Sandown, N.H., and Stephen I. McAskill and his wife Karen of Amesbury; one daughter, Cynthia R. Terrazzano and her husband Al of Amesbury; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

September 4, 1988Lynn - Funeral services will be held here for Mrs. Mildred A. (Haskell) Emery, 74, of Boston and formerly of Oakwood Ave., Lynn, who died Friday in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Boston, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Walter H. Emery.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Caroline (Smith) Haskell.
She is survived by two sons, Donald H. Emery of Boston and Walter H. Emery of Quincy; one brother, Roy Haskell of Derry, N.H.; four sisters, Ruth Haskell of Derry, N.H., Irma Beckett of Peabody, Mabel Boynton of Lynn and Gladys Walker of Saugus; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

March 31, 2011Walter H. Emery, Jr., passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Franklin Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lynn, MA on April 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Haskell) Emery.
He was the father of Susan Chita of Blackstone, MA Stephen Emery of St Paul, MN and Michael Emery of Attleboro, MA He leaves his grandchildren, Jason Beaulieu, Amanda Chita, Christopher Emery, Ryan Emery, Jennifer Tricaico and great-granddaughter, Abagail Slowe. He was the brother of Donald H. Emery of Boston, MA A resident of Blackstone, he was formerly of St Paul, MN, Pace, FL, Bellingham, and Lynn, MA Walter worked at Polaroid in Waltham, MA for 20 years until retiring in 1980.
He was a U. S. Navy Veteran having served on the USS C. R.
Ware and received the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, and was a member of the VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham. He was avid car racing fan.

Volume 11, No. 4, December 2002MABEL FLORENCE (HASKELL) BOYNTON, 86, died after a lengthy illness on April 29, 2002 at Union Hospital, Lynn, Massachusetts, USA. Mrs. Boynton was daughter of the late Waldo and Catherine (Smith) Haskell.
Surviving are sons, David L. Boynton, Jr, of Lynn and Paul S. Boynton of Ware; and one grandson.
Her husband, David L. Boynton [sic], and twin sister, Ruth Haskell, predeceased her.
Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.

August 23, 2011SPRINGFIELD - Mr. David L. Boynton, age 85 died Saturday August 20 at the Bay State Medical Center, Springfield after a brief illness. Mr. Boynton was born on Bachelor St. Lynn on February 15, 1926 and over his lifetime he resided in many areas of East Lynn.
He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mabel (Haskell) Boynton whom he tirelessly cared for in the last two years of her life, who passed away on April 29, 2002. He joins his two brothers, Charles and Russell, both of Lynn.
Mr. Boynton met his wife Mabel, while they were employed at Cushman's Bakery, where he worked for 35 years.
When the bakery closed he went on to work at GE Riverworks for 10 years until his retirement in 1991. David was an avid Red Sox fan and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his two sons, David Jr. of Lynn and his partner Malina Chhan, Paul and his wife Patricia of Ware and g r a n d s o n Christopher and his wife Tasia, who are currently serving in the U. S. Army.
His kind heart, gentle manner, and sense of humor remained until the very end will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

May 18, 2008Sharon Ann Pryor died on May 7, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born on February 9, 1945 in Buffalo, New York, the youngest of four children. Sharon's surviving brothers are James Ryan (Murph) of Austin, Texas, and Clark Ryan (Charlotte) of Denver, Colorado.She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Ryan, and father, Clark Ryan, along with her brother, Greg Ryan.
She lived each day throughout her life thinking and speaking of her two daughters, Julie Schmelzle (George) and Christine Parisi (Bob), along with her four grandchildren (Megan - 14, Lauren - 12, George - 10 and Christine's first child, Zander, who was seven days old at the time of Sharon's passing.
She held on long enough to welcome Zander to life on Earth as she was passing through to heaven. The eventual love of her life as an adult was Joe Mack Pryor, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2006. They were married for over twenty years, sharing a love for horses, camping and fishing. They will be spirits in heaven once again.

Joe Mack was born May 3, 1937, in Hugo, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Kathryn, and three brothers, Buddy, Johnnie and Sam Pryor.
Survivors: Wife, Sharon; daughters, Julie Schmelzle and Khristine Parisi; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Donna, Alvin and Kay, Ike and Alice and Ted and Karren Pryor.

September 1, 1904Charles Niles, aged 21, son of C. F. M. Niles, president of the Security Bank and Trust Company of Toledo, was drowned about five miles north of Monroe, Michigan. He and Charles Rakestraw of Toledo were in a canoe, which was capsized by a squall.
