May 1, 2014DeRenzo, Marian G. age 103, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Bethany Manor. She was born on June 24, 1910 in Sayre, PA to the late Joel and Ada (Davidson) Ives.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Ellis Harlan and Samuel DeRenzo, sisters, Catherine Cosgrove and Geraldine Lawrence.
She is survived by her sons, Bruce Harlan of The Villages, FL and Joel Harlan of Newfield, NY; grandchildren, Tammy Levitt, Michelle Harlan and Carey Ovitt; great-grandchild, Amber Ovitt; sister, Marjorie Gelunas; step-daughter-in-law, Mary Vitucci and family; brother-in-law, Charles Cosgrove; along with several nieces and nephews.
Marian retired in 1971 from Corning East High School having taught Advanced Business Education and was a long time member of Lake Street Presbyterian Church. Music was Marian's love and she shared her talent on the piano with the community by entertaining at hospitals and nursing homes and with the residents and staff at Bethany.

March 30, 2006Wilhelm A.C. Appeltofft of Marblehead, died peacefully March 21, 2006, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in Cambridge, February 6, 1909, son of Swedish immigrant parents.
Mr. Appeltofft had worked at the Plymouth Rubber Co. for more than 50 years until he retired from his post as chief chemist. He was a member of and a national judge for the U.S. Figure Skating Association.
Mr. Appeltofft was an avid bridge player and an ardent Red Sox Fan. He was happy to enjoy their World Series victory during his lifetime. He spent many happy summers with his family boating on the Essex River and living in the cottage he built in Essex. He was an amazing person and he will be greatly missed by his entire family.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Oakes) Appeltofft; four children, Susan Lehr of Lynn, Nancy Knowlton of Marblehead, Cindy Cummings of Westport and William Appeltofft of Essex; and six grandchildren.

December 3, 2016Ruth (Betsy) E. Bevilacqua, age 89, and wife of the late John H. Bevilacqua, died on November 26, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born and raised in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. and Ruth A. Oakes. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she and her husband, John ran Essex Radio & TV Service in Essex for close to 60 years. Constant companions outside of their business as well, they enjoyed traveling throughout New England often with their grandchildren.
They were also dedicated volunteers to many organizations in the region, always ready and willing to set up a sound system for many worthy causes.
Ruth was also a lifelong member of the West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church. An avid knitter, she touched many people through the church with her knitted prayer shawls. Her family will also fondly remember her for the many articles of clothing she knitted for them.
She is survived by two sons, A. Arthur and his wife, Linda Bevilacqua of Danvers, Mass., and John Jr. and his wife, Deborah Bevilacqua of Gloucester, Mass.; four grandchildren, Tony and wife, Alicia Cornwell, of Roslindale, Mass., Michael and wife, Ilknur Bevilacqua of Danvers, Mass., Samantha Bevilacqua of Danvers, and Victoria and husband, Paul Lang of Gloucester, Mass.; a great-grandson, Ender Bevilacqua of Danvers, Mass.; and a sister, Jean Appletoff of Essex, Mass.
Betsy was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Leonard and a sister, Ann.

July 14, 2012GLOUCESTER, MA � John H. Bevilacqua, Sr., 85, of Gloucester, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, following a brief illness. He was the husband for over 60 years of Ruth E. (Oakes) Bevilacqua.
John was born at home in West Gloucester on April, 22, 1927, son of the late Antonio, originally of Pascara, Italy, and Lucretia (Gale) Bevilacqua, of Gloucester.
He attended Gloucester High School and then Boston Radio & TV School. He was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. During his working career he first built and repaired pipe organs for Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company in Boston, and then owned and operated Essex Radio and Television Service in Essex, MA.
John was a 60-year member of the Manchester Lodge, AF&AM and was also a member of the Manchester Amaral Bailey Legion Post #113.
He was a founding member of the North Shore Old Car Club, and was also a member of the Maine Obsolete Auto League. As an old-car enthusiast, John enjoyed participating in many parades and other events with his unique antique automobiles.
In addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by two sons, A. Arthur and his wife Linda Bevilacqua of Danvers, and John Jr. and his wife Deborah Bevilacqua of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Tony and wife Alicia Cornwell, of Jamaica Plain, Michael and wife Ilknur Bevilacqua of Peabody, Samantha Bevilacqua of Danvers, and Victoria and husband Paul Lang of Gloucester; also a great-grandson Ender Bevilacqua of Peabody. He was predeceased by his sister Lydia Roberts.

April 17, 2007Beverly A. (Ewing) Oakes, 71, of Ipswich, died April 12, 2007, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her family and friends, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Leonard H. Oakes, who died August 1, 2003.Born in Ipswich, September 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lillian (Player) Ewing.
Mrs. Oakes was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Ipswich. She was a past mother advisor of the Rainbow Girls, also of Ipswich. She was a recipient of the Rainbow Girls' Grand Cross of Color.
Mrs. Oakes was also a former den mother and a coach for the Gals Softball, both of Ipswich. She was the band manager of the Clan Wallace Pipes and Drums of Ipswich for many years. Mrs. Oakes loved knitting and gardening and she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Cheryl and Michael Carpenter, Karen Oakes and Dean Bergeron, and Gail and Angelo Pelosi, all of Ipswich; her son, Donald Oakes of Kennebunkport, Maine, six grandchildren, Cameron Carpenter, Jaimie Johonnett, Allison Johonnett, Aaron Bergeron, Avery Pelosi and Jameson Oakes; one brother, Joe Player of California; three sisters, Kay Kelly, Jacky Atkinson and Virginia Player, all of Ipswich; and many nieces nephews.
She also had seven late brothers and three late sisters.

March 31, 2006Helen Beaumont Park Haskell, 90, formerly of Greenwich and West Chop, Mass., died of natural causes on March 8 at her home in Georgetown, Texas. She was born on Feb. 3, 1916 in New York City to Helen Curtis and Halford Woodward Park and was the stepdaughter of Lucina Hilton Park, formerly of Greenwich and Savannah, Ga.
Haskell graduated from Rosemary Hall in 1935 before earning degrees from Wellesley College (1939) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1941). She also studied optics at the University of Rochester. In addition to her contributions in science, Haskell was named to the U.S. national field hockey and lacrosse teams just prior to World War II. At the time of her death, Haskell was a member of the National Republican Women's Club in New York City.
Haskell is survived by two sons, William Beaumont Haskell of Georgetown, Texas, and Halford Whittier Haskell and his wife, Pamela, of Weir, Texas, and their sons, Halford Theodore (USNA) and John Prater Haskell. Haskell is also survived by a daughter, Helen Haskell MacCallum of Cambridge, Mass., and her daughters, Katherine Park and Elizabeth Hilton Mac-Callum, all formerly of Greenwich.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Peckham Haskell; a brother, Halford W. Park Jr.; a stepbrother, John Templeton Strong, and stepsister Audrey Strong Johnson, all formerly of Greenwich.
