February 7, 1993PRINCETON -- Wilbur E. "Bill" Pierson, 72, of 423 S. Randoph St. died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1993, in the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Born Jan. 27, 1921, in rural Princeton to Wilbur E. and Elspeth Winship Pierson Sr., he married Elaine Hellstrn on Aug. 3, 1945, in Princeton. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Gregory of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Charlotte) Matheny of Houston; and one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Jean) Tanke of Crown Point, Ind.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Princeton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4323 and American Legion Post 125 of Princeton.
He also was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 of Ottawa.

Born Feb. 20, 1922, in Morris to Eugene and Addie Jacobs Hellstrn, she married Wilbur E. "Bill" Pierson on Aug. 3, 1945, in Princeton. He died Feb. 3, 1993.
Surviving are one son, Gregory of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Charlotte) Matheny of Houston; and one sister, Mrs. Andrew (Patricia) LaBarbera of McNabb.

February 25, 2013Tanke, Mary Jean (nee Pierson), 86, of Crown Point, born on January 25, 1927 in Princeton, IL, to Elspeth Lorraine (Winship) Pierson and Wilbur Edward Pierson, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie, John (Valerie); two grandsons, Matthew and Michael.
Mary Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Charles Tanke; her parents; and brother, Bill Pierson. H
er education includes: graduation from Princeton High School, attended Northwestern University and received her nursing certificate from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago. Mary Jean was a life-long advocate of children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother active in the following activities with her family: Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Indian Guides, Job's Daughters and DeMolay. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine. During her career she worked at hospitals, nursing homes, Inland Steel Mill Clinic, as well as 40 years of service with the Gary Community School Corporation.

March 30, 2008KENNETH C. TANKE Crown Point, Indiana Kenneth C. Tanke, of Crown Point, was born July 28, 1926 in Fremont, Nebraska, to Alfreda Dorthea (Kielstrup) Tanke and Otto Hans Leopold Tanke, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jean (Pierson) Tanke; his children, Stephanie, John (Valerie); two grandsons, Matthew and Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Surviving siblings are Keith Tanke, Janet Salak, and Linda Love.
During High School, Ken was a Nebraska state champion back stroker. Ken was an Army Air Corps and served in Japan During World War II. He graduated from George Williams College, and was employed by the YMCA. Ken was instrumental in starting Y Indian Guides in South Bend, working with chiefs from the Blackhawk tribe. He later was employed by Inland Steel, where he was an accountant and foreman inthe 4BOF. Ken was a member of DeMolay and received the Legion of Honor Award. He also was a Mason and belonged to Roosevelt Lodge #678.

Our dear father, grandfather and friend left us the morning of July 25th. Mark was home surrounded by his family as he lost his battle with lung disease. Mark was born in Chicago in 1932 to Rae & Milton Ratner.
After graduating from New Trier High School, he entered the US Army serving as a Field Medic in the Korean War. When he returned home,
Mark met and married Lynne Kenny. They had two children, Adam and Penni.
Mark and Lynne relocated to San Diego in 1959 where he began his career in the automotive industry. Mark and two partners formed Global Automotive Industries building the company to an over 60 location automotive business. After selling his interest in the company, Mark went on to own and operate Dualtone Automotive in Pacific Beach. Mark was an investor, philanthropist, humanitarian and lover of animals. He had a passion for travel, visiting dozens of foreign countries. Whether home in the U.S., or traveling to Europe, China, Iran, Russia, or India, he sought and enjoyed every opportunity to connect with and get to know the people he met.
Mark leaves behind his sister, Donna Greenberg, his son, Adam Ratner and Adam's wife Annick Le Gall, his daughter Penni Ratner and her husband Gregg Scharin. Mark leaves his first daughter, Margaret Casey and her husband Mel Winer of Chicago. Mark also leaves his dear friend and companion Patricia Zamary. Mark had an incredible relationship with his grandchildren, who were so special to him, Aaron R. Dubin, Alyssa R. Dubin, and Emma R. Ratner. They will miss him dearly.

Bobby Wilson Haskell 83, passed away at South Georgia Medical Center on June 9th 2018 in Valdosta, Ga surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born January 6, 1935 in Monticello, Florida to Leslie D. Haskell and Ione Love Flowers Haskell.
Bobby honorably served our country in the United States Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Cherry Lake Baptist Church. Bobby worked with the Department of Agriculture as a Road Guard Inspector for 13 years. Also with the City of Madison as a Police Dispatcher/Fireman, a Foreman with Dixie Packers, and Security with North Florida Community College. He was a member of Madison Elks Club, a Co-Founder of the Madison County Bass Club and an avid outdoorsman.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Leslie D. Haskell and Ione Love Flowers, brother Lavonne Haskell.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 54 years Becky Haskell, his son Doug Haskell (Farie), his two daughters Liz Haskell Kaman (Robbie), Gayla Lynn Lewis (Lane), of Rowlett, TX., His sister, Patsy Samson (Jerry) seven grandchildren; Tyler, Alexa, Dexter, Daniel, Brandy, Chad, and Kelsey, and he was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Bodie, Mazzy, Rylan, and Adyson, and as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

John Clyde Mizell, 93, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007.
Born in Simpson, IL, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Ellen J. Curley Mizell and the husband of the late Ione Thompson Mizell.
Mr. Mizell was a retired rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Hampton Park Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Mizell and Rillis Mizell. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Margery and her husband Lester opened Bridges restaurant on Largo Clearwater Rd. in 1962, they moved to Starkey Rd in 1974-2003.
She is survived by her niece Carol (Pat) Moore Koegler and Judy McDonald, great nephew Tony Moore , great niece Tammy (Tom) Standifer,great great nephew, two great great nieces and dear friends Jane Grantham and Pat Barrett.
Margery is predeceased by her husband Lester R. Thompson, her mother, father, sister, and a nephew Stanley K. Moore.

March 18, 2006WYANET - Madelyn L. Gross, 84, of Wyanet died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Born Aug. 18, 1921, in Howard, S.D., to Lewis and Blanche (Kitterman) Thompson, she married John William Gross on Nov. 8, 1943, in Wyanet. He died Jan. 4, 2000.
She was a graduate of Wyanet High School and Kewanee Business College. She worked for First State Bank of Princeton for many years.
Survivors are one son, John L. Gross of Wyanet; three grandchildren, Victoria (David) Anderson of Wyanet, John C. (Jessica) Gross of Wyanet and EmmaLee W. Gross of Peoria; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella, William and Aiden Gross, all of Wyanet.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Rita E. Gross.

Dr. Neal D. Newlin, Hollansburg minister who delivered the Memorial Day address here this year, has received word of the death of his brother, Fred Newlin, 58, which occurred on the East Indies Island of Sumatra. The brother, an auditor for the Standard Oil Company of California, died unexpectedly of a heart attack while assisting in developing a new oil field on Sumatra. The body was flown to the United States, and funeral services and burial took place in Pasadena, California.
