Dec. 12, 2010.Lois Phelps Haskell, 74, died Dec. 10, 2010, after a brief illness. She was born in Greenfield, Mass., on March 22, 1936, to Stanley and Elsie Phelps of Walpole. She moved to Walpole in 1947, where she attended Walpole schools and graduated in 1954.
After high school, she entered the Elliott Community Nursing School in Keene, graduating in 1957. She was a member of the Cheshire Quilt Guild, Amoskeag Quilt Guild, the Thursday Sweeties and the Knotty Quilters. She was an avid gardener and tended
multiple gardens in her home.She was predeceased by her husband, Howard "Hack" Haskell, who died on Oct. 30, 2001 in Exeter, NH. He was born July 31, 1934 in Burlington, VT, the son ofthe late George Haskell and Katherine Haskell Geer.
Family members include two sons, Mark Haskell of Manchester and Gene Haskell of Swanzey; a daughter, Donna Haskell Varnadoe of Griffin, Ga.; a sister, June
Phelps Houghton of Walpole; three brothers, Curtis Phelps of Boston, Gary Phelps of Troy and Douglas Phelps of Walpole; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren;and several nieces and nephews.
In 1930 Clyde Haskell was living as a boarder in Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida.

She was a private piano teacher in the bay area for many years and a member and past president of the Music Teachers Association of Tampa. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.Survivors include two sons, Cary F., Tampa, and C. Conrad, South Charleston, W.Va.; a brother, Howard K. Carlton, Atlanta; a sister, Bettie Jeanne Cavanaugh, Basking Ridge, N.J.; and three grandchildren.

January 31, 2008BRATTLEBORO -- Marguerite Elizabeth Douglas, 83, of Morningside Commons, formerly of Sycamore Street and a lifelong resident of town, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 29, 2008, at Eden Park Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since June 2007.
She was born in Brattleboro on March 20, 1924, the daughter of Richard and Alice (Haskell) King, attended Brattleboro schools and was a graduate of Brattleboro High School, Class of 1942.
Mrs. Douglas had been employed as a secretary for the law firm of Fitts & Olson, was secretary for attorney John Carnahan and worked for many years at the former Dunham Shoe Co., serving as executive secretary for John Dunham. She went to work for the Dunham Co. following graduation from high school.
Active civically, Mrs. Douglas was a former Brattleboro Town Meeting representative, served on the board of trustees at Rescue Inc., was active for many years with the BHS/BUHS Alumni Association and was a member of the Brattleboro Historical Society and founding member of the Estey Organ Museum. Mrs. Douglas was a volunteer at the Brooks Memorial Library and volunteered in the coffee shop at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
For many years, she knitted winter hats and mittens for the Brattleboro Reformer Christmas Stocking campaign. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Brattleboro.
A faithful and devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, her life was centered around her family. Of her pastimes and interests, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening and was a member of the Floral Arts Club in Brattleboro.
On May 13, 1945, at First Baptist Church she was married to E. Holland Douglas. Her husband of 52 years predeceased her on Sept. 6, 1997.
Survivors include one son, James Douglas of Reston, Va.; three daughters, Elizabeth Fitts and husband John of Lake Wales, Fla., Carol Farrington and husband Steve of Brattleboro and Jane Douglas of South Newfane; five half-brothers, Richard King, Robert King and William King, all of Canada, Stanley Wyckoff of Palm Bay, Fla., and Ronald Wyckoff of Brattleboro; and a half-sister, Donna Carmichael of Canada. She also leaves three grandchildren, Sara Fitts of Burlington, Andrew Fitts of New Jersey and Catherine Farrington of Brattleboro and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Marilyn Farrell.

March 8, 1999DUNNELLON, Fla. - Evelyn G. (Haskell) Parmelee, 92, of Dunnellon, formerly of Holden, Mass., died Saturday in Monroe Regional Hospital, Ocala, from injuries suffered in a fall at home.
Her husband of 52 years, Charles R. Parmelee Sr., died in 1988.
She leaves a son, Charles R. Parmelee Jr. of Dunnellon; two daughters, Pearl Johnson of Palmetto and Ruth Rawlins of North Little Rock, Ark.; a brother; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
She was born in Sudbury, Vt., daughter of Hiram and Myra Haskell, and later lived in Brandon and Brattleboro, Vt. She then lived more than 40 years in Holden, Mass., before returning to Brandon, Vt., about 1972. She came to Dunnellon in 1990. She graduated from Brattleboro High School.
Mrs. Parmelee was a former member of First Congregational Church in Holden.

September 15, 2015WYE MOUNTAIN - Ruth Parmelee Rawlins, 86, of Wye Mountain, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015. Ruth was born in Brattleboro, Vt., a daughter to the late Charles R. Parmelee and Evelyn Haskle Parmelee. Ruth taught at the University of Arkansas Medical Science for 31 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother: Charles Parmelee; sister: Pearl Johnson; two grandchildren: Matt Wieland and Austin Hanchey; and nephew, Charles Jr.
Ruth is survived by her husband James Rawlins of Wye Mountain; children: Pamela Joslin, Holly Wieland, Jill Acree, Faith Hanchey, Wendy Tuck; Grandchildren: Jeff and Chloe Wieland; Claire Hanchey; Andy, Marty and Beth Tuck; and Elizabeth Acree.

December 12, 2001FOREST DALE - William H. Haskell, 93, died Dec. 11, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1908, in Brandon, the son of Henry and Myra (Titus) Haskell.
He moved to Brattleboro as a child and received his education in Brattleboro schools.
Mr. Haskell married Rhoda Parmelee on Aug. 16, 1936, in Schuylerville, N.Y.
In his early years he was a truck driver, tree surgeon and farm machinery mechanic. Later he was employed at the Myers Farm Machinery Co. and James F. Nelson Farm Equipment Co. and in 1952, he and his wife started the Bennington Farm Equipment Co., which they owned and operated until retirement in 1975.
He had been a member of the Home Guard during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of Forest Dale; a son, Henry Haskell of Salisbury; and a granddaughter.
He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Clyde Haskell; and four sisters, Alice Holland, Geneva Bancroft, Louise White and Evelyn "Bunnie" Parmelee.

February 19, 2009FOREST DALE Rhoda Elizabeth Haskell, 97, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.
She was born in Brandon on Feb. 24, 1911. She was the daughter of Daniel and Martha (Farr) Parmelee. She received her early education in local Brandon schools and graduated from Brandon High School in 1929. She attended Albany Business College and graduated in 1930. Following graduation she worked as a secretary in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She later worked as a secretary at the Brandon Training School, where she became a bookkeeper and office manager.
She married William Haskell in Schuylerville, N.Y., on Aug. 16, 1936. They made their home in Brandon until moving to Bennington in 1942. They owned and operated the Bennington Farm Equipment Company from 1952 until their retirement in 1975. In 1977 they moved back to Forest Dale to be near their son and his family. Family says she enjoyed her home and family and was a quiet lady and loving wife and mother.
She is survived by a son, Henry W. Haskell and his wife Brenda of Salisbury, and a granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2001; a sister, Alice Rolfe; and three brothers, Charles Parmelee, Leland Parmelee and Gale Parmelee Sr.
