Robert L. Hipskind, 85, 343 E. Hill St, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1996 at Wabash County Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1910 in Wabash to Fred and Catherine Hipskind. He married Doris Ward on Sept. 1, 1941 in Monticello. She died on June 10, 1993.

A lifelong Wabash resident, he was a janitor at the Wabash Christian Church, retiring in 1975. He was a 1928 Wabash High School graduate and a member of the Wabash Christian Church.

One niece, Kathryn Votaw, Wabash, survives.

George A. Greenler, 81, of Jacksonville died Monday at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

Survivors: wife, Edna Tholen Greenler; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Susan) McKee of Monmouth; and two granddaughters.

Edna M. Greenler, 96, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Community Care of Monmouth.

She was born March 21, 1913, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Fred G. and Dora Kaehlert Tholen. She married George A. Greenler on Feb. 12, 1938, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1995.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan (husband, Mike) McKee of Monmouth; two granddaughters, Denise (husband, Pat) Mascari of Naperville and Kimberly (husband, Jack) Chenault of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; three great-grandsons; one sister, Esther Morrison of Jacksonville; and one brother, Raymond Tholen of Pleasant Plains. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorna Treutle.

Mrs. Greenler was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Passavant School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at Passavant Area Hospital, then for the Corpus Christi (Texas) Health Deptartment during World War II. After the war, she returned to Jacksonville, working at the Morgan County Health Department. In 1947, she began working at Illinois School for the Visually Impaired, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she also belonged to the Ladies Aid Group.
