Kenneth Haskell, a millwright for 38 years at US Steel before his retirement in 1982, died in Oroville of a massive stroke. He was 80.

The native of Sioux City, Iowa, lived in Concord for 40 years before moving to Oroville 16 years ago. He served in the Air Force. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Rockin' Ramblers and enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorretta; daughter, Nancy Foltz of Pittsburg; son, Chad Haskell of Concord; sister, Ferne Mitte of Clear Lake; and three grandchildren.

Loretta Carol Haskell Jan. 25, 1921 - April 26, 2014 Former

Resident of Concord & Oroville Loretta lost her courageous battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 93. She was born to Ildage and Doria Perreault, in Red Lake Falls, Minn.

After graduating from High School, she attended nursing school and then enlisted in the Army Medical Corp as a Lieutenant. During WWII, she was stationed in Texas to care for wounded soldiers. After discharge she worked at Crookston Hospital and then was offered a nursing position at Highlands Hospital, in Oakland. Loretta was a very liked and well-respected nurse for 33 years and retired as a nursing coordinator/supervisor. She dearly loved her job, co-workers and most of all, her patients.

In 1946, Loretta met Kenneth Albert Haskell on a blind date, in Oakland. A year later they married and were married 54 years until Ken's passing.

Loretta is survived by her daughter Nancy Foltz (Rich), son Chad (Jeri), grandsons, Shane (Rayann), Ryan (Bahar), Robert Fox (Christine), step great-granddaughter Danielle Bennett (Andrew), and step great-grandson, Max.

Ferne Mitt�, a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and special friend, was born into this world on a beautiful spring day in Sioux City, Iowa, to Charles and Elizabeth Haskell. Sadly, Ferne passed away after sustaining a head injury from a fall at her home in Kelseyville.

Though Ferne departed from many who cherish her, she is reunited Above, with her parents; sister, Ione Greene; brother, Ken Haskell; husband, John Mitt‚; son, Keith Johnston; and daughter, Deborah McCord.

She leaves behind her nephews, Don Greene; Jim Greene (Joanne) and Chad Haskell (Jeri); niece, Nancy Foltz (Rich); Anita Graham, who was like a daughter; Julie Cast (Sam), who was like a granddaughter, and their children; and many great-nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A native of Kearney, Neb., she was a member of the Santa Cruz Chapter of the Ladies of the Moose.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie H. Moore of Scotts Valley; a brother, Orville Garrett of Broken Bow, Neb.; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

Marvin L. Haskill, 80, of Elm Creek, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Annie Jeffrey Hospital in Osceola.

Survivors include son, Marvin "Mike" (Jill) Haskill of Elm Creek; daughter; Karen (Gary) Hazzard of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Jami (William) Engelhardt and their children, Tryston and Triniti, Erin (Ryan) Bear, Jeff (Lisa) Hazzard and their children, Elijah, Noah and Isaiah, Marci (Hazzard) Keim and her children, Shayla and Saige, Abby (Chris) Erickson and their children, Carter, Ryann and Blake

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five sisters, one brother and one great-grandson, William LeRoy Engelhardt.

He was born on June 6, 1928. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was married to Delma Mansir. She died on July 12, 2005. He farmed most of his life in the Overton and Elm Creek area.
