February 3, 2014Ada Josephine Myers, 96, of Keosauqua, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.
Mrs. Myers was born Jan. 6, 1918, in rural Wayne County, the daughter of Marshall and Mary Etta Hayes Haskell. She married Jerry Jay Myers Dec. 3, 1938, in Corydon. He died May 27, 2006.
She graduated from Corydon High School in 1936. She had been a bookkeeper and telephone operator in Des Moines. She and her husband owned and operated Ada's Flowers in Keosauqua from 1976 until the Des Moines River flood of 1993 flooded the shop.
She was a founding member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Keosauqua, and was active as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include one son, Michael Myers and spouse Teri of Florence, Ore.; one daughter, Marsha Achenbach and spouse Bob of Keosauqua; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruth Hiatt, Ruby Ryden and Berneta Haskell; and three brothers, Hollis, Lester and Doyle Haskell.

Jerry J. Myers, 90, of Keosauqua, died at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.
He was born to Frederick and Mary Stewart Myers. On December 3, 1938, he married Ada J. Haskell in Seymour.
Mr. Myers farmed in southern Iowa and northern Missouri and was employed many years as building engineer at Insurance Exchange Building and Veterans Auditorium in Des Moines. He worked at Solar Aircraft Company in Des Moines during World War II, and he worked with his wife at Ada's Flowers, Greenhouse, and Antiques in Keosauqua from 1976-93. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and Keosauqua Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; son, Michael of Florence, Oregon; daughter, Marsha Achenbach of Keosauqua; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Elmer Doyle Haskell served in the US Navy during WW II. He was wounded during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor 07 December 1941 and then given an honorable medical discharge.

September 6, 2003A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in the McMinnville Seventh-day Adventist Church for Hazel L. Alen of Newberg. Pastor Don James will officiate and interment will be Rock Creek Cemetery, Canby. Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville.
Mrs. Alen died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at a daughter's home in McMinnville. She was 91.
Born Oct. 21, 1911, in Oroville, Wash., she was the daughter of Chester Louis and Ruth Perrin Clendenon. She graduated from Humboldt Academy in Eureka, Calif., in 1930. She and Fred D. Wilbur were married June 21, 1935, in Salinas, Calif. He preceded her in death in February 1992.
Mr. Wilbur was a Seventh-day Adventist teacher and pastor, and the family lived in many different places before moving to McMinnville in the 1970s.
Her family said, "Until her husband's death, she ably performed the duties of a loving wife, mother, homemaker, elementary school teacher, hospital and community services worker, and was a friend to all. Her entire life was devoted to selfless service for others."
In September 1992, she married Arvid Alen of Newberg and moved there. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Newberg; three daughters, Muriel Zaugg of McMinnville, Marcella Lynch of Grants Pass and Ruth James of Berrien Springs, Mich.; a son, Kenneth Wilbur of Cloverdale; three stepsons, Lloyd Alen of Newberg and Paul Alen and Roy Alen, both of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, Don Clendenon of Caldwell, Idaho, and Luther Clendenon of Aloha; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchilden and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Clendenon and Ross Clendenon.

Clifford Melvin Haskell was born on November 6, 1915, in Tama, County. He was the son of Robert William Haskell and Carolina (Stull) Haskell; he attended school in the Garwin School District. Clifford was united in marriage to Alice Hauser February 14, 1941, in Missouri; they were married for 19 years before she passed away. He then was united in marriage to Joylayne Cox on July 8, 1962, in Eldora, Iowa at the Assembly of God Church. Clifford had worked for the State of Iowa D.O.T. and retired after 29 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and building a 16 ft. boat in his garage, model airplanes; he played the fiddle and loved his family. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa
Left to cherish Cliffords memory is his wife of 52 years Joylayne of Marshalltown, children: James Robert (Joan) Haskell of State Center, Carol Jean(Ray) Haskell of Albion, Tammie Joy Haskell(Al-Jenfawi) and Terry Melvin(Ann) Haskell of Marshalltown, Iowa. 13grandchildren and18 great grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

June 27, 2014Ora Ellsworth Haskell, 95, of Marion, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids.
Ora Ellsworth Haskell was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Garwin, Iowa, the son of Robert and Carolina Stull Haskell. After graduation, Ora proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War ll.
On Feb. 28, 1948, Ora was united in marriage to Virginia Frost in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Ora worked for Allen's Motors before retiring after 30 years of service. Ora enjoyed fishing with his wife on the Mississippi River. The three things that were most important to Ora were his family, his faith and living life to its fullest. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia; four children, Marsha (Kent) Heiken, Connie (Steve) Allard and Rob Haskell, all of Cedar Rapids, and Nancy (Ross) Koster of Atkins; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Haskell; and a sister, Susan Cory, both of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Haskell.

Susie was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. She was a former member of the Congregational Church, in Marshalltown. Susie enjoyed to crochet.
Susie will be missed by two sons; David (Rose) Cory of Melbourne, Daniel (Jill) Cory of Laurel, one daughter, Debra (Joe) Ihde of Oakland, IA, six grandchildren; David (Brenda) Cory, Lisa (Steve) Jans, Rodney (Angie) Cory, Michelle (Kirsten GIng) Cory, Sarah (Andy) Messerschmidt, Jennifer (Jeremy) Perkins, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a brother, Clifford Haskell of Marshalltown.

Survivors include son Daniel B. Nickerson; daughters Betty Bradbury and Helen Granato, both of Denver, Doris Beach of Arvada, Dorothy Larson of Littleton, Shirley Valentine of Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Biddle was born April 12, 1907, in rural Nevada to Elmer Fare and SaraH (Maroney) Biddle. He received his education in the Shipley and Nevada schools. On May 15, 1928, he was married to Inda A. Nickeson. He was a tile layer and concrete worker.
Survivors include a son Paul Biddle of Nevada; two daughters Virginia Dodd of Julian, Calif., and Karen Holder of Nevada; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inda, in 1969; four brothers and three sisters.
